Humans have various impressions for visual stimulus such as order/disorder and aesthetic preference, but the brain characteristics that each impression reflects are not readily apparent. We hypothesized that perception of order/disorder reflects the stimulus processing fluency. We conducted one preliminary experiment and two main experiments. The preliminary experiment simultaneously presented two stimuli to participants, who judged which stimulus was the more disordered. We scored perception of order/disorder using participants' responses. The main experiments used a same-different judgment task to assess the hypothesis. We presented two stimuli simultaneously, scored with perception of order/disorder. Participants reported whether the stimuli were the same or not. Participants easily judged whether the two stimuli were the same or not when the same-difference task included the stimulus perceived as orderly. Results suggest that the impression of order/disorder reflects the processing fluency for each stimulus.

<p>We investigated whether a sensory information, which is not related with self-motion originally, can be recruited as a new cue for self-motion. In the learning phase of an experimental trial, stimulus color changed depending on the acceleration of body rotation about the yaw axis. The stimulus color changed to red when subjects rotated with clockwise acceleration and to green when subjects rotated with counterclockwise acceleration, or vice versa. In the measurement phases before and after the learning phase, subjects viewed the rotating stimulus with or without new self-motion (color) cue and responded the occurrence and magnitude of vection. The results showed that the color information accompanied with self-motion affected the latency of vection, suggesting that new self-motion cue of color could contribute to generate vection.</p>

機器使用時のユーザの心理的ストレスを客観的に評価するために,心拍や皮膚導電率等の生体信号を用いる手法が提案されている.しかしそれらの手法には電極の装着等の煩わしさが伴うため,それ自体がストレスの原因となる可能性もある.その点において,眼球運動は非接触で計測可能であるため,ストレスの優れた指標になり得ると考えられる.本論文はそのための基礎的な知見を得ることを目的とし,多様な課題の遂行時における眼球運動を計測した.また,そのときの心理状態の主観評価も併せて行い,眼球運動の特性との対応を検討した.その結果,課題によって時間的な切迫感を与えた場合に,振幅の小さいサッカード眼球運動の分布における振幅の平均値と主観的な「焦り感」との間に正の相関が見られた.このことから,サッカード眼球運動の動特性が心理的ストレスの指標として利用できる可能性が示された.一方,課題の遂行に関連すると考えられる振幅の大きなサッカードの分布においては,眼球運動の動特性と心理状態との間に相関は見られなかった.このことから,心理状態は課題の遂行に関連しない振幅の小さい眼球運動により強く反映されると考えられる.

平成5年7月12日に「北海道南西沖地震」が発生し,長期間にわたる避難生活を送る島民の中には,緊急避難時に義歯を紛失した者が多く,不自由な食生活を余儀なくされていた.本研究は,これら被災者に対する義歯補綴処置を中心とした歯科救援活動から,アンケート調査をもとに,災害時における義歯紛失者への対処や緊急援助食料などに関する歯科的問題点および災害発生時の歯科救援活動のあり方について考察した.さらに,3カ月後の予後調査結果をもとに,その使用状況ならびに咀咽機能の回復程度について検討を加えたものである.

In this study, we investigated the effects of gravity direction on the perception of motion in depth. We measured the magnitude of the acceleration of approaching and receding object that appeared to move with a constant velocity using the method of constant stimuli. To manipulate gravity direction from the vestibular and somatosensory systems, we used three conditions of observer's body orientation: upright, supine, and prone states. The results showed that the deceleration of the approaching motion was greater when observed with the prone and supine states than with the upright state. Moreover, the greatest acceleration of the receding motion for perceiving constant velocity was the prone state, followed in order by the upright state and the prone state. We discuss the effects of risk by the moving object and of gravity direction in normal environment on the perception of moving object.

エリスロポエチン(EPO)は赤血球造血を亢進させるサイトカインであり、低酸素刺激に応答してその発現量は増強される。しかし、近年、上皮系細胞の一部では、EPO遺伝子の発現がGATA転写因子群によって抑制されていることが示された。本研究では、遺伝学的および薬理学的手法によるGATA因子の機能抑制が、EPO発現の抑制を解除し、酸素濃度に依存せずに、異所性にEPO発現を誘導することを明らかにした。本研究成果は、EPO産生量低下に起因する腎性貧血治療の新しい創薬標的を切り開くものである。

機器使用時におけるユーザの心理的ストレスを客観的に評価することは,人間に優しいヒューマンマシンインタフェースを設計する上で重要である.しかし,従来提案されている心拍・脳波・皮膚電位等の生体信号をストレスの指標とする場合,電極の装着等の煩わしさが生じる.その点において,非接触で計測可能な瞳孔径は優れた指標になり得ると考えられる.また指標の汎用性を考慮すると,幅広い年齢層のユーザに適用可能なことが重要である.本論文ではその基礎的な知見を得るために,若年者と高齢者を対象に,多様な課題の遂行時における瞳孔径を計測し,そのときの心理状態の主観評価との対応を検討した.その結果,本研究で用いた3種類の作業負荷条件下においては,いずれの場合も負荷量の増大とともに瞳孔径変動量が増大した.また,タイムプレッシャーを与えた場合と聴覚刺激の識別難易度を操作した場合においては,心理的ストレスの要因となり得る「不安感」の主観評価と瞳孔径変動量との間に相関が見られた.瞳孔径変動に関しては,定性的には若年者と高齢者でほぼ同様の挙動が観察されたため,心理的ストレス指標として幅広い年齢層に適用できる可能性が示された.
