This paper describes the calculation results of the potential quantity of available water resources in each prefecture. At present, there is only the data of the potential quantity of available water resources which is divided into 14 areas in Japan. It is inadequate discussion about the water resources with a viewpoint from prefecture level, so the authors adopt new calculation method. The authors focus on the regional characteristics of potential quantity of available water resources from stochastic method analysis, coefficient of variation and rate of water resources use. Kagawa, Osaka and Saitama have small amount of the potential quantity of available water resources, large coefficient of variation and high rate of water resources use. So the authors estimate that the possibility of water shortage is high in these prefectures.

The purpose of this study is to obtain the basic information for the improvement of regional environment by electric-pole elimination project in Japan. The questionnaire survey was carried out to local governments. The contents consisted of the main methodology of project, the general criteria of the road selection and their priority, the inhabitant opinions of project, etc. Followings are the results. The economic condition of a government has a large influence on the embarkation and the continuation of project. Major roads in cities have been the main subjects of project. On the contrary, the importance of scenic beauty increases as the criteria. In small towns not urbanized, projects tend to be executed because of the conservation of traditional streetscapes, the incorporation of barrier free design, and so on. On the other hand, in large cities, project often be executed as a part of road construction.

The purpose of this sturdy is to clarify the formation process of an amusement quarter, Shinkyogoku, in the modernization of a traditional city, Kyoto. This paper attempts to examine the space composition of some temples and shrines grounds in Teramachi as the matrix of the amusement quarter. This examination was advanced by menans of the restoration grounds plan that was made from the document stored in Konrenji temple and so on. As a result, it became clear that a places of amusement had already been formed in the late Edo period. And its spatial composition had adapted itself to the traffic line of the people who visited the grounds, and its existence had been temporary to correspond with the condition of the formation process.

This paper intends to shed light on the spatial composition of Claremont Garden, one of the most representative English landscape gardens in 18th century. We focused on the garden's creation by Charles Bridgeman with Sir John Vanbrugh and later development by William Kent, and reproduced the original plans based principally on 3 maps. The spatial composition was analyzed by axis, geometrical composition and landform. In conclusion, Bridgeman and Vanbrugh designed the garden based on some axes abstracted from the landform, but some geometrical relationships between them were hidden. Kent disposed of some axes and emphasized both ends of the ridge.

This study summarizes the results of a psychological experiment conducted in order to assess continuous recognition of street layout based on the dominant hemisphere of the brain. The experiment was conducted in two areas : one with a grid-shaped street pattern and another with an irregular pattern of winding streets. Subjects were asked to memorize route by studying a computer-animated simulation and walk the route by themselves. Originally the experiment included 18 right-dominant and 21 left-dominant. Analyzing errors in the cognitive maps, it became clear that visual guidance alone was enough for the subjects, right-dominant, to understand properly its legibility.

This paper tries to show the significance of the material the architect Sutemi Horiguchi(1895-1984) left in Meiji University to delve into his design and architectural thoughts: According to our research, this collection is made up of 4,705 items, whose dates span the years between 1919 and 1965 covering most of his whole career as an architect. Most of them are working drawings and documents relating to building. The collection includes the information on buildings and projects unknown to be his works and on materials to show processes of some famous buildings, which could triggar a reevaluation of him.

<p> In order to conduct flow analysis of cement-based material such as cement paste, mortar and concrete, it is important to more accurately obtain the rheological constants representing the flow characteristics of the material. In this study, the rheological constants of mortar were measured by two rheology tests. The first was sphere pull-up test, the second was the measurement by using rotational vane viscometer. According to previous studies, the former was able to measure the rheological constants of high fluidity mortar, and the latter was able to evaluate the shear stress characteristics of cement-based material containing fine aggregate and coarse aggregate. Furthermore, in this study, the flow constitutive equation of mortar was derived and Moving Particle Semi-implicit (MPS) method was proposed. Using this MPS method, flow simulation of mini slump flow test was attempted.</p><p> The results obtained from the experimental study and analytical study in this paper can be summarized as follows.</p><p> Throughout the sphere pull-up test, the rheological constants (yield value and plastic viscosity) of mortar which was the same mix proportion as mini slump tested mortar were measured. In the test results, the larger mini slump flow value was, the lower yield value was, and the relationship between the two values was able to be approximated by an exponential curve. On the other hand, plastic viscosity and arrival time at mini slump flow of 115mm had positive correlation, and the relationship between the two values was able to be approximated by a linear function.</p><p> Using a rotational vane viscometer, the flow curve of mortar was measured for various shear conditions. It was confirmed that the flow curves of all mortar samples were able to be approximated by the Bingham model under all shear conditions. And the obtained flow curve was approximated by the Bingham model, and the rheological constants of all mortar sample was determined. Thixotropy was confirmed in the flow characteristics of the mortar sample from the obtained flow curves. Also, contrary to the general tendency, the larger mini slump flow value was, the higher plastic viscosity was for water cement ratio of 30%. It was suggested that the rheological constants measured by rotating vane blade were affected by amplified apparent viscosity of mortar. As a result, the sphere pull-up test was more appropriate for the evaluation of rheological properties of mini slump flows.</p><p> Applying the polygon model to the wall boundary as boundary condition of MPS method, a phenomenon that mini slump flow was shielded by mini slump cone was expressed on the flow analysis. Adopting the rheological constants obtained by the sphere pull-up test, it was attempted that mini slump flow spread of mortar sample was reproduced by MPS analysis. The results obtained by the analysis agreed well with the experimental results of mini slump flow. Moreover, in terms of mini slump shape, the analysis by MPS method largely reproduced the actual measured shape. Furthermore, following the analysis condition used in mini slump flow analysis, mortar flow spread with slump cone was predicted by MPS analysis. The results obtained by the analysis reproduced the actual measured value of slump flow. Therefore, the analysis by MPS method and the rheological constants obtained by the sphere pull-up test are effective in mortar flow spread.</p>

We discussed the simple method about a subjective evaluation of cooking odor diffusion from kitchen to a dining (or living) room. The subjects standardized their sensitivity by progressive amount of a standard material (2,4-decadienal) before each evaluating. And the subjects accord with results of the thermal environment measurement and the visual observation by the smoke flow in the room.

The purpose of this study is to establish the new calculating method of fixture requirements for railway stations by applying a simulation technique based on the characteristic factors of stations. In the previous papers, we showed the results of analyses on the passengers and their behaviors of toilet utilization in the East Japan Railway stations. In this paper, as part three, we made a proposal for the new calculating method of fixture requirements for railway stations based on the analyses of fixture usage. The main contents are as follows ; We showed the calculating method and the calculating conditions by simulation. The arrival patterns to each fixture in the toilet were set up from the investigated values. Also, the duration time of occupancy and the service level of waiting time were shown in each fixture. The maximum permissible waiting time in each fixture was set up from the questionnaire survey on the opinions of toilet utilization in buildings. The Monte Carlo simulation technique was applied for the calculation of fixutre requirements based on these calculating conditions. The numbers of fixture requirements were shown on the relation of arrival rates in each fixture. The calculating results were compared with the existing fixture numbers in the investigated five stations of the East Japan Railway.

This study deals with the architectural method of Josep Maria Jujol, one of the most important architect in Catalonia, at the begining of the 20th-century, by the analysis of the changing of the architectural thought of the 20th century in Catalonia. With this purpose, this paper consists of two parts chiefly; the first part is exhausive collection of Jujol's discourses, the second part is rearranging of chronological order of all the articles dealing with Jujol mainly that written after his death. The intention of this paper is, therefore, to expound Jujol's architectural thought both inside and outside and to provide the begining of the serial study of Jujol.

In this research, the experiments to measure the actual performance of room air-conditioners were performed to make appropriate evaluation method of them. Results are as follows:1. Partial load rates of air-conditioners are very low; especially in the heating use there was a machine whose partial load rates are less than 10 % in 95% of the entire operating hours.2. COP in actual usage situation was lower than JIS experiment result in most of machines. This tendency was conspicuously appeared in heating.3. The evaluation approach that can evaluate the actual performance at the heating period and at the low partial load appropriately should be considered.

Giuseppe Poggi was a Florentine architect who directed city planning in mid-nineteenth century Florence, after it became the Capital of the Kingdom of Italy in 1865. During this period, while executing flood prevention projects, constructing piazzas, residence areas and creating paesaggio, he sought to create a modern city of Florence that was appropriate to its role as capital. Since his projects were profoundly influenced by the Italian political situation, the projects represent not only the ideal figure of Florence but also the ideal figure of Italy during that period. In this research, Poggi's role and the limitations imposed on the jurisdiction of his decision-making will be clarified in order to analyze his projects precisely and to understand urban modernization in Florence.
