A lot of researches on chaos have been made. However, most of them are just investigation using computer simulation, and researches on actual chaotic system is very few. It is well known that double pendulum is a representative chaotic system. This paper deals with an actual handmade double pendulum and stabilize its chaotic motion by the extended OGY method, which we propose. First, by using reconstructed attractor which is a state space to express chaotic time series, the motion of the pendulum is analyzed. Next, the proposed new control method is applied and proved that very small control input can stabilize the system. Finally, it is compared to the disturbance observer method, and shows the superiority of the proposed control method.

Neural mechanism of the retina may perform the principal role of luminosity transformation. In this paper, non-linearity of the Munsell value function was discussed on the physiological basis. Amplitude response function of the retinal neurons is approximated as a sigmoidal one V=Vmax•X/(X+S). This function may more essentially express the visual process, because it could be shown that this function includes parts well fitting to the well known psychological response functions, Weber-Fechner and Steven's law.Introducing an idea of neural adaptation to this function, the Munsell value function can be more precisely approximated. The conclusive equations were expressed as V=Vmax•X/{X+S(X)} and S(X)=X0{1+5.55•X/(X+1.8•X0)}, where X0 was background light intensity or refrectance, and X was test light one. This equation means that the adaptation level S(X) varied with two components, groval intensity (X0) and local one (X).

The demand-supply imbalance on electric power system is absorbed by system frequency variations, before the LFC controls. Since frequency fluctuations are common in all linked blocks, demand-supply imbalance of one block is absorbed by another block too. Demand-supply imbalance arises in another block simultaneously, and is absorbed by the former block. These mutual supports have a direct effect on linkage power fluctuations. The size of this self-regulation is regarded as proportional to the size of frequency fluctuation and the ratio of the former to the latter is nearly proportional to the block capacity. But, at a short period variation range, there is a fear that such a proportional relation will be biased by linkage position. We analyze this point, and reached the following conclusions. First, we can prove the existence of self-regulation bias theoretically and point out that the bias has some effect on linkage power fluctuations at short period variation range. Second, we apply this analytical method to 4 blocks-linked system of Japan, and compare the theoretical value with measured one. The result indicates no correlation among demand fluctuations of those blocks which are presupposed for calculation of the theoretical values; among several blocks is found some ununiformity of the smallest unit size of demand power variations.

This paper has investigated a surge propagation characteristic on a crossbonded cable by applying a homogeneous model in comparison with a normal-bonded cable. It has been found that the former is basically determined by the inter-core mode of propagation and results in a surge voltage becoming a rather smooth and sinusoidal-like waveshape of which the oscillating frequency corresponds to the propagation velocity of the mode. On the contrary, the latter is dominated by the coaxial mode, i.e. the core-to-sheath mode, on each phase, and the surge voltage is square-like. The propagation velocity of the inter-core mode is roughly given as a difference between the coaxial and the earth-return mode velocities, and thus is smaller than the coaxial mode velocity. The maximum overvoltage on the crossbonded cable is greater than that on the normal-bonded cable in a tunnel-installed cable as is well-known, while the former has been found to be smaller in a directly buried underground cable.

This paper describes a prospect toward electric power production by the Fusion energy. In the first part of the paper, a principle of TOKAMAK system which is the successful magnetic-confinement-systems for fusion reactors are shown, and then the ITER project based on TOKAMAK and the present status of ITER is reviewed. In the remainder of the paper, a roadmap for fusion energy and conceptual designs of Demonstration reactors are briefly described.

Photovoltaic power plants and wind turbines are eco-friendly power generators that utilize solar energy and wind energy, respectively. Many large-scale photovoltaic power plants have been constructed using government subsidies. Large-scale photovoltaic power plants are usually constructed in large open spaces that contain some tall structures. Therefore, such large-scale photovoltaic power plants are likely to attract lightning, which may result in the malfunction or breakdown of the electrical and electronic equipment. In this study, overvoltages generated when a lightning strikes a structure anchoring photovoltaic panels are measured using a 1 : 10 scale model. Additionally, the measurements have been verified using the FDTD (finite-difference time-domain) method. The mechanisms of the overvoltage generations on an actual-scale photovoltaic power plant have also been clarified.

先づ碍子劣化に關する統計の尊重すべき所以を説き、次に東京電燈株式會社の110,000ヴオルト以上の送電幹線の内、四年以上の送電記録を有する猪苗代舊線、上越線、群馬線、甲信線の四線路に使用せらるる各種の碍子に就き,平均一年の劣化率を表示せり。此表の中に含まるる碍子の種類は5種、總数は287,800個にして、其内譯は下表の如し。但しG型と稱するは著者の考案に依り内地にて試作せるセメントレス型のものなり。<br>和製12吋 76,800個<br>和製10吋 161000"<br>和製G型 800"<br>Ohio Brass 28,600"<br>Locke 1,800"<br>Jeffery-Dewitt 28,800"<br>本表の示す所に依れば和製碍子の成績は昔日に比して著しく改善せられ十吋碍子にありては平均一年劣化率は1.0%以下に降りつつあるものの如し。然れども他面に於ては外國製の優良碍子は和製碍子に比して壓倒的優勢なる成績を示せり。之を他山の石となして和製碍子の益々改良せられん事を切望す。送電線路の經濟關係より云へば、碍子の劣化率が資金の利率より著しく低率となれる今日に於ては、結局first costの廉なる和製碍子を採用するを得策とす。然れども送電事故を減少する目的としては優良碍子を採用せざるべからざるは勿論なるを以て、實際に碍子の採否を決定する場合に於ては此二つの見解を適當に調和せしむる事を要す。<br>次に大正十三年以降昭和三年に至る5年間東京電燈株式會社の110,000ヴオルト以上の送電幹線總亘長約1,200キロメートルの線路に起りたる落雷の影響と認むべき源因に依る送電事故を表示せり。其事故總數69件にして,一年一線路平均約3件なり。事故全數の内約70%は單に閃越放電事故に止まれるものにして、殘余の約30%は碍子に損傷を伴へるものなり。而して事故發生の時刻は午後四時に最大にして、其季節は七月に最大なる記録を示せり。<br>架空地線の保護效用は頗る著大にして、二條架捗のものと一條架捗のものとを比較するに、平均一年一線路事故發生數は約1と3との割合なり。然るに上中下三段の腕金別に依る事故發生數を調査するに、下段腕金に最も多くして總數の約45%を占め、中段腕金に於ては約35%上段腕金に於て最も少くして約20%なり。<br>即ち事故發生の割合は殆んど地線架捗點よりの距離に正比例すといふも大差なきが如し。之に依りても明かなるが如く、地線の直下に在る凡べての導線は地線に依りて落雷の影響より遮蔽せられあるが故に安全なりとの觀念は誤たり。地線架捗位置として推奨すべきは地線一條の場合に從來の如く鐵塔頂上の代に之を中段腕金に移し、各導線と地線との距離を殆んど均一ならしむるを可とす。之に依れば上段腕金の導線はdirect strokeの落雷に對しては殆んど無保護なるも、此場合は實例少く、多くの場合に於ては各導線を成るべく均一に保護し結局一線路としての事故發生數を減少せしむるの利ありと信ず。此説は實驗に依りて確められた譯にもあらざれば猶今後の研究を要するものなり。

On a variable speed control of motors used in industrial plants and industrial robots, a shaft torsional oscillation is often generated when a motor and a load are elastically coupled with a shaft. Such an oscillation may result in damage to the machine.<br>This paper is intended to theoretically explain the fact that a shaft torsional oscillation can be suppressed by using the digital observer regardless of the presense of the gear.<br>In this paper, we conducted tests on two shafts with resonant frequencies at 10.5 Hz and 16 Hz using a full-digital control equipment for controlling DC motors with the digital observer in order to confirm the oscillation control effects.

A simple slip frequency estimation algorithm without a speed or position sensor is proposed, especially aimed at the very low rotor speed estimation. The stator flux is obtained by the simple digital integration from the compensated voltage reference. And the rotor speed is estimated from the slip frequency estimation algorithm, which is useful under any control such as the vector control, the decoupling control, and the slip frequency control. A rotor speed estimation as low as 5 [rpm] is verified through the experiments combined with the voltage command type vector control and the proposed slip frequency estimation algorithm.

A new motor (ADTR-Motor: Anti-Directional Twin Rotary Motor) for electric vehicle drive was proposed. A stator in a conventional motor was reformed to be movable, and the stator (outer rotor) and the rotor (inner rotor) rotate in anti-directions. IM type ADTR-Motor and SM type ADTR-Motor are considerable, and in this paper a prototype of IM type ADTR-Motor was experimentally constructed. When ADTR-Motor is used for an EV drive, the direction of one of the rotors should be reversed, and both rotors, which rotate in the same direction, propel the two wheels of EV. The torque of wheels can be balanced without differential gear. The fundamental characteristics of ADTR-Motor are clarified, which are the structure of ADTR-Motor, the equivalent circuit parameters, the torque balance theory, the torque-speed characteristics, the rotors speed transient characteristics, and the transient response under the speed sensorless torque control.
