本稿は、日本における自死遺族の数の推計を試みる。自殺者の家族構成・親族関係に関する統計情報は存在していないため、本稿では日本の平均的な数値を基づいて推計を行う。主な結果としては、現在の日本では自殺者一人当たり5 人弱の遺族が存在するということ、現在日本には自死遺児(親を自殺で失った未成年者)の数はおよそ9 万人存在するということ、そして現在日本に存在する自死遺族全体の人数はおよそ300 万人であるということの3 点が挙げられる。

In this paper, the influence of errors which arise in matrix multiplications on theaccuracy of approximate solutions generated by the Block BiCGSTAB method is analyzed.In order to generate high accuracy solutions, a new Block Krylov subspacemethod is also proposed. Some numerical experiments illustrate that high accuracysolutions can be obtained by using the proposed method compared with the BlockBiCGSTAB method.

Joseph-Louis Lagrange, one of the eminent mathematicians in the eighteenth century, had given a lecture on calculus as early as in the latter half of the 1750s. One will find this lecture interesting not only because he introduces the differential calculus with special emphasis on the concept of limit, which seemed novel for that time, but also that Lagrange refers to several textbooks most of which were published in France. Given these points, the present article attempts to consider Lagrange's early thought on the foundation of calculus in the context of French controversy. In France, after the reception of Leibnizian calculus through l'Hôpital's textbook (1696), Fontenelle had constructed a mathematical system based on infinite quantities (1727). In 1740s, however, the supposition of infinitesimals were criticized by supporters of fluxions, among others Maclaurin (1742, translated in 1749 into French), and then in 1750s d'Alembert proposed the concept of limit as the "basis of the true metaphysics of differential calculus." Although Lagrange does not mention d'Alembert's name, perhaps he has been influenced by the latter. It is in this context of French infinitesimal controversy that one can get a better view of young Lagrange's concern with the foundation problem.

Owing to the advancement of globalization, many countries' population has changed. Language minority students (LM3) represent a large and growing school age population in the United States, and they fail disproportionately when compared to white students. The improvement of these students' academic achievement is the key concept under the new federal education law. This paper analyses the education for LMS through its illustration in San Francisco Unified School District under the implementation and impact of The Federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). This law is a reorganization of the 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act, and designed to help educating LM3 in schools all over the United States. The redesign of the 1965 Act had many issues to deal with. They related to education autonomy of the states, local school districts j and individual students and parents. This paper examines how the school district and schools attempt to overcome these issues and address to close the achievement gap for students with limited English proficiency under NCLB, by studying a case of the practice of Language and Literacy Assessment Rubric (LALAR) in San Francisco Unified School District in California.
