The surprisingly low temperature (〜323 K) synthesis of the ceria-zirconia solid solution upon milling ceria powder with zirconia mill and zirconia balls (in ethanol and/or water) was studied. Solid solutions up to 60 mol%ZrO_2 were obtained, whose formation was proved to result from solid phase reaction between ceria and zirconia powders, enhanced by contact stress (either shear or compressive one). Furthermore, the occurrence of large plastic deformation, breaking and mutual combining was found on the ceria powder before and after solid solution. The grain size of ceria-zirconia solid solution was ≨20 nm, which would cause on easy rearrangement of low diffusion atoms of cerium and zirconium to form the solid solution at such a low temperature. In addition, the possible existence of a solid solution for which the migration of the constituents is much faster (or the stability of the solid at the composition is much higher) than that of other composition, was suggested around 50 mol%CeO_2-50 mol%ZrO_2.

A model with spontaneous breakdown of symmetry in quantum field theory is studied in the framework of the Parisi-Wu stochastic quantization (SQ). Looking at the conventional treatment of the model in the canonical and the path-integral quantizations including the problems of many inequivalent Hilbert spaces and measures, we explicitly construct the SQ formulation for the model in the conventional treatment of quantum field theory. The real power of SQ is found in extending quantum field theory beyond the existing frameworks; SQ easily avoids the problems imposed by choices of Hilbert space or measure. We demonstrate it by introducing c-numbers depending on the fictitious time into the starting formal Langevin equations for the model. This new formulation in SQ thus obtained is mathematically well-defined, leading to a definite calculational scheme. The result from this shows that the masses and number of excitation modes change from those in the conventional treatment.

A newly recycling process for video camera components of AZ 91 D magnesium alloy used for professional market was developed by melting and casting processes in order to satisfy the JIS specifications for recycled AZ 91 D magnesium alloy ingot. Various quantities of Mn were added to the melt in order to avoid contamination by impurities such as Fe, Ni and Cr from paints. Composition analysis and mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the recycled ingots were also examined. Recovery ratio of the recycled ingots is in the range of 60 % to 75 %. Chemical composition and tensile properties of the recycled ingot with Mn addition of more than 0.23 % is satisfied by JIS specification except for Cu content. Tensile strength and 0.2 % proof stress of the recycled ingots increase with increasing Mn content. The recycled specimens with Mn addition of more than 0.23 % almost exhibit the same level of corrosion resistance as the virgin ingot of AZ 91 D magnesium alloy.

1.今まで有していたノロウイルス様粒子の1996年株に加えてGII/4の2006b株(わが国で流行が見られた株)に対しても作製した。さらにサポウイルスI/2,I/5とIVに対してもVLPを作製し、その中でサポウイルスI/2に対するモノクローナル抗体を用いたイムノクロマト(IC)を開発した。このICはサポウイルスI/2に反応の限局性があった。今、広範囲のゲノタイプ、ゲノグループに反応する抗体を得ようとしている。同様な方法でアストロウイルスに対するICを開発したが、これも用いたG1に特異的な反応があった。2.現在市販されているロタウイルスのICが十分に使えるか、またPCRとの比較はどうかを3社のキットで行ったところ、1社では感度が88%であるものの、他は感度,精度で90%を超え、有用と考えた。3.タイ国での2005年の147下痢便から下痢症ウイルスをPCR法で検査し、10がノロウイルス陽性、5がサポウイルス陽性であった。さらにゲノタイプ、サブゲノタイプの解析をし、GII/4-d変異株を見出した。タイ国での継続的なロタウイルスの検査では2002-2003に多かったG9が減少してきたが、1989年のころのG9と比較すると変異が起こっていることがわかった。また、G、P、NS4など分節を比較すると動物由来の分節と思われるものがヒトロタウイルスに見られることがわかった。4.コブウイルス属のなかにヒトに感染するアイチウイルスがあるが、ヒトでの検出に続いて動物、とりわけブタについてコブウイルスをタイ国と日本で調べたところ、糞便中に遺伝子の存在が確認された。今のところヒトへの感染は報告されていないが今後検討する必要がある。
