There are two significant genres of pornographic manga for young female readers in contemporary Japan. One is called "Teens' Love" (or "Ladies' Comics"), and the other is called "Boys' Love". The purpose of this study is to clarify the characteristic traits of female consumers of pornographic manga, focusing on the Seventh National Survey of Sexuality among Young People (2011). These surveys are conducted every six years by the Japanese Association for Sex Education (JASE). The study compares the girls aged 12 to 22 whose source of information about sex was manga with those who cited other sources. The former had a positive image of sex and sexual open-mindedness, and demonstrated more knowledge of sex. Extrapolating from this data, I argue that pornography for young female readers can have a positive effect. 日本には女性向けのポルノコミックがジャンルとして成立している。一つは、「レディコミ」あるいは「TL(ティーンズラブ)」で、もう一つは「BL(ボーイズラブ)」である。そのほかにもさまざまな少女・女性向けコミックのうちに性的表現が広く広がっている。本稿は、少女・女性向けマンガのうちに広がる性的表現の女性読者に着目し、その実態にせまる。具体的には、「第7 回青少年の性全国調査」のデータに基づき、性の情報源がマンガである女子とそうではない女子を比較する。性の情報源がマンガの女子は、セックスに対するポジティブなイメージと、性に対する寛容性をもつと同時に、性知識も高かった。このようなデータを通じて、ポルノグラフィが女性の読者にもつ有用性を明らかにする。

The growth of social media has brought about an increase in so-called “flame wars” wherein people lodge protests against gender bias in media expression from feminist perspectives. The protests are widely circulated online, ending up as a “flaming” incident. This paper reviews the development in media studies, from “women and media” studies of the 1980s which mainly focused on biased depictions of women in mass media to “gender and media” studies prevalent today, thereby demonstrating current issues surrounding online “flame wars”.One of the characteristics of modern “gender and media” type of studies is that the focus is placed not only on the process through which media constructs the categories of “man” and “woman” but also on the diversity within these categories or intersectionality between gender and other categories (e.g., ethnicity, class, sexuality, disability). Among the various categories, this paper especially looks at sexual and gender minorities to discuss the importance of incorporating queer studies’ perspectives.As criticism towards gender biases in media expression continue to spread online and bring about frequent “flame wars”, studies that explore the issues arising from online communication as well as the potentials of such communication are necessary than ever before.

今年度を総括して述べれば、来年度への調査実施に向けた準備を順調に進めることができた年度と言える。中学生と高校生向けの調査票は、昨年度においてすでに完成していたが、それに加え5月に実施した研究会において、大学生に対する調査票を確定することができた。過去7回の調査結果の分析に際しては、独立変数に設定できる質問項目が少ないことが反省材料であった。とくに家庭の社会経済的背景についてたずねることについて、学校側の抵抗感が大きく、最近ではとくに質問項目として盛り込むことが難しくなってきた。しかし、一昨年および昨年度に行われた大学生対象の予備調査において、大学生であれば親の学歴や職業についての質問項目に答えることへの抵抗はほとんど見られず、分析に耐えるだけの回答を得ることができていた。したがって本調査においても、大学生対象の調査票の項目には、親の学歴や生活状況を尋ねる質問を含めることとした。今年度のもう1つの大きな取り組みとしては、調査先の決定があった。そのために協同研究者はそれぞれ、調査候補となっている都道府県及び区市町村の教育委員会ならびに対象校へ調査の依頼のために手分けしてうかがった。その結果、年度末までには、かなり理想に近づく形での調査協力を取り付けることができた。年度内に3回実施された研究会においては、調査協力依頼のための文書を作成し、またそれぞれの調査先から調査実施の条件として示された個別の案件についても審議した。また実査に加わる調査員に対するインストラクションの内容、保険、旅費の配分など、調査に必要なすべての事柄について確認を行った。

本稿は、2011年に行われた第7回青少年の性行動全国調査(JASE)のデータに基づき、日本の若者の性行動の現状を明らかにすることを目的としている。この調査は、7640人から回答を得ており、若者が性的関心をもたなくなってきたのはなぜかといった問題に焦点をあててきた。本稿は、この調査の項目のうちから、「あなたがいま、性について知りたいことは何ですか」という質問に着目して分析を行った。分析から得られた第一の結果は、性情報のニーズは、性別と学校段階によって、いくつかのタイプに分けることができるという点である。第二の結果は、性情報のニーズは、「性行為と妊娠」「性的な悩み」「性病」「恋愛」という4つのカテゴリーに収斂していくプロセスとみることができるという点である。特に、日本の若者にとって、「セックス(性交)」は、恋愛としてよりもむしろ妊娠に関わるものとして意識されているということ、その一方で性交によって生じる別種のリスクである「性感染症」や「エイズ」のリスクは性交とは独立したものとして意識されていることが明らかになった。また、第三に、性的関心が性情報ニーズと正の相関がみられたことから、性的関心が性情報ニーズに強い影響を与えていることが明らかになった。
