We have investigated the current-voltage (I-V) curves of the benzenedithiol (BDT) single molecular junction as a function of stretch length of the junction. The BDT single molecular junction was prepared with the nano fabricated Au electrodes using the mechanically controllable break junction (MCBJ). The conductance of the BDT single molecular junction gradually decreased with the stretching length of the junction. We analyzed the obtained I-V curves based on the two different models; the single channel model and the field emission model. Based on the single channel model, it was revealed that the decrease in conductance was mainly caused by the decreases in the metal-molecule coupling and that the HOMO approached to the Fermi level with the decrease in the electrode separation. The energy shift of the HOMO was supported by the analysis based on the field emission model. [DOI: 10.1380/ejssnt.2018.145]

2011年度の児童学科「児童音楽Ⅰ」の授業において, 非対面指導の一環として約100名の履修者が各自の携帯端末を使って自身のピアノ演奏を録画し, インターネット上の指定サイトにアップロード提出する試みを実施した。この実践中に生じた幾つかの問題は受信側 (指導者, サーバ管理者) と送信側 (履修者) 双方に起因するが, 受信側が解決すべき点は, アップロードサイトが扱う文字コードを変更すること, アップロード中の表示をよりわかりやすくすること, 履修者の使用メディア, データ容量やアップロードの方法に標準的なガイドラインを示すことなどであった。また, 履修者も, 携帯端末とパーソナルコンピュータ (以下, PC) 間のデータ転送の方法を習得し, マルチメディアを取り扱うことへの"抵抗感"を取り払う努力をすべきである。

Although the main reservoir of Candida spp. is believed to be the buccal mucosa, these microorganisms can coaggregate with bacteria in subgingival biofilm and adhere to epithelial cells. Such interactions are associated with the capacity of Candida spp. to invade gingival conjunctive tissue, and may be important in the microbial colonization that contributes to progression of oral alterations caused by diabetes mellitus, some medications, and immunosuppressive diseases such as AIDS. In addition, immune deficiency can result in proliferation of Candida spp. and germination of forms that are more virulent and have a higher capacity to adhere to and penetrate cells in host tissues. The virulence factors of Candida spp. increase host susceptibility to proliferation of these microorganisms and are likely to be important in the study of periodontal disease. Herein, we briefly review the literature pertaining to the role of Candida spp. in periodontal disease, and consider the main virulence factors, the host immune response to these microorganisms, and the effect of concomitant immunosuppressive conditions. Metastable α”-Fe16N2 have attracted much interest as a candidate for rare-earth-free hard magnetic materials. To realize high coercivity, it is necessary to utilize not only the magnetocrystalline anisotropy but also the shape anisotropy of α”-Fe16N2 nanoparticles assemblies. An increase in magnetostatic couplings and intergranular exchange couplings among particles typically reduces the coercivity. Therefore, it is very important to evaluate the anisotropy and magnetic interactions among α”-Fe16N2 nanoparticles. We have examined the changes in morphology, structure and magnetic properties through the synthesis of α”-Fe16N2 nanoparticles from various materials such as α-FeOOH, ɤ-Fe2O3, and Fe3O4. The magnetic interactions were also estimated based on experimental results obtained by analysis of the rotational hysteresis loss of randomly oriented nanoparticles. Hc and Hkptc for the α”-Fe16N2 nanoparticle assemblies for different starting materials ranged from 2.2 to 1.1 kOe, and from 11 to 12 kOe respectively. Experimental results of the normalized coercive force and normalized switching field suggests that the existence of large magnetic interactions among α”-Fe16N2 nanoparticles.

ジャルナシ(Jalanash,モンゴル名Nuzhgen)隕石はモンゴル国(モンゴル人民共和国,Mongolian Peopleユs Republic)に近年落下した隕石で,同国で回収された隕石6個のうちの1個である.ジャルナシ隕石は1990年8月15日14:00頃西モンゴルのウルゲイ(Olgiy, 49°N, 90°E)に落下したもので,落下直後同地の遊牧民により回収された.当時1個以上が落下したと言われているが回収した隕石の総重量は約1kgで,現在はその本体約700gが研究されることなく,West Mongolian Museumに保管されている.1994年11月にジャルナシ隕石の一部を入手できたので,本隕石の種類,鉱物組み合わせと組織,及び全化学組成等について概要を報告する.ジャルナシ隕石は粗粒,塊状で非常に脆いが落下直後に回収されたためきわめて新鮮である.構成鉱物は主に粗粒カンラン石とピジョン輝石からなり,鉱物粒子間を炭素質物質が埋める典型的なユレイライトである.Fe-Ni金属鉄も粒間に多量に生じている.金属鉄は珪酸塩鉱物のFe成分が炭素により還元され生じたものであろう.鉱物組成は非常に均質でカンラン石(平均Fo80.6, 最大値Fo79-80の間,組成巾 Fo91.8-78.6),ピジョン輝石(平均En75.1Fs17.2Wo7.7; 組成巾 En75.8-74.3Fs17.9-16.6Wo8.3-7.1).主化学組成はSiO2 39%,TiO2 0.08%,Al2O3 0.9%,FeO 16.2%,MnO 0.5%,MgO 38.3%,CaO 0.82%,Na2O 0.09%,Cr2O3 0.7%,FeS 0.8%, Fe 2.1%,Ni 0.1%,Co<30ppmである.南極産ユレイライト12個と比較検討したと結果,組織はいずれのものとも異なっているが,鉱物組成はALH-78019及びALH-78262ユレーライト隕石に類似していることが明らかになった.

Background:Adipose tissue is one of the sources of mesenchymal stem cells, which have the potential to differentiate into various types of cells, including myocytes. Whether brown adipose tissue (BAT)-derived cells might differentiate into the cardiac pacemaking-conducting cells, and have the potential to regenerate the cardiac conduction system (CCS), is investigated in this study.Methods and Results:BAT was isolated from the interscapular area of mice and enzymatically digested before culture. Round or fusiform cells showed spontaneous beating at 4–7 days after culturing of BAT-derived cells. Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction analysis and immunocytochemical analysis revealed that BAT-derived cells expressed several cardiomyocytes, the CCS and pacemaker (PM) cell marker genes and proteins. Patch-clamp techniques revealed that spontaneous electrical activity and the shape of the action potential showed properties of cardiac PM cells. Next, a complete atrioventricular (AV) block was created in mice and green fluorescent protein-positive (GFP (+)) BAT-derived cells were injected intramyocardially around the AV node. At 1 week after transplantation, 50% of BAT-derived cells injected mice showed a sinus rhythm or a 2:1 AV block. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that injected GFP (+) cells were engrafted and some GFP (+) cells co-expressed several cardiac PM cell marker proteins.Conclusions:BAT-derived cells differentiate into the CCS and PM-like cells in vitro and in vivo, and may become a useful cell source for arrhythmia therapy.
