This case report was conducted in an acute care unit with a distinctive plan to examined the relationships between: 1) amount of nurses’ activity and nurses’ burden-feeling, and 2) plan characteristics and nursing burden. The survey consisted of a questionnaire and three-day-activity survey using a general pedometer. Results showed that the amount of activity in the nursing hall type tended to be lower than that in the middle corridor type. Furthermore, no clear relationship was found between amount of nurses’ activity and the nurses’ burden-feeling. These results suggest that nurses’ burden-feeling is an independent indicator.

In Japan, the cob construction is often used for fences, but is rarely used for buildings. These buildings are being dismantled by aging and change of owner. We conducted measurement on the warehouse and the wall built with the cob construction method around the Yamanobe road in Nara prefecture. As a result, it is found that there is relationship between the structure of the warehouse, the area and the application. Furthermore, it was possible to estimate the construction method from the states of the mud wall.

The purpose of this paper is to propose a tool to verify the results of workshops and to make consensus by citizens. Analyze of the citizens’ comments of the workshop of the public facility from the viewpoints of characters, images of space, rules and consciousness proved importance of variety, multi-purpose, flexibility and of citizens’ interest in participation. Based on these results, the proposal of verify-sheet is framed. The requirements of the public facility are systematized from the point of building condition and citizens’ behavior, and judgment point for citizens are added. Participation of professionals is necessary for this process.

The butai (chapel) and gohai (porch) of the main hall of Fudōji temple in Shiga prefecture was preserved during the restoration of the main hall in 1933. This paper describes the installation and evolution of the butai and gohai as an expansion of the main hall by studying the munafudas (ridgepole plagues) of the main hall and archives on the restoration of the main hall. It is believed that the butai and gohai were installed between the 1660s and 1750s and went through multiple modifications in 1770, 1809 and 1933.

This paper describes the installation and evolution of the zushi (miniature shrine) and its shumidan (dais) in the main hall of the Fudōji temple in Shiga prefecture. By studying archives, it is believed that the zushi was built between late 15th century and early 16th century whilst the shumidan was built between mid and late 15th century. The zushi and shumidan is believed to have undergone modifications in 1599, 1888 and 1933. Through observation on restored parts, the original state of zushi and shumidan was deduced.

This study classifies municipalities according to the demography of the population aged 75 and over, and identifies the years in which the population aged 75 and over peaks in each municipality. We classified the population dynamics of the 75 years old and over in municipalities into ten types and showed them on a national map. We found that 14.45% of the target municipalities have already reached their peak, and that 40.31% of them will reach their peaks in 2030. This means that around 2030 is the period of maximum demand for senior care facilities in Japan.

This study analyzes the input and output data inputted into the calculation program for the Japanese building energy codes and clarifies the actual status of the building envelope standard compliance rate and envelope design specifications for non-residential buildings. This paper reveals the compliance rate of the envelope standard, the relationship between the building envelope performance index and the energy consumption performance index, and the average envelope design specifications by building type and region.

The photovoltaics applied to the exterior wall of buildings is one of the elemental technologies of Net-zero Energy Buildings. The purpose of this study is to acquire the amount of solar radiation and power generation in eight vertical exterior wall sides, such as south, south-west, west, north-west, north, north-east, east and south-east directions, and to clarify the rate at the time of comparing with the horizontal surface or a 30-degree south slope. The observation system installed on the roof top of the building which locates in Hakusan-shi, Ishikawa prefecture is used for observation.

This paper deals with the experimental study of the eartuquake resisting wall using toughened glass. Load bearing tests were conducted to determine the ultimate horizontal strength and deformation capacity. The result shows the wall using toughened glass has enough strength as the earthquake resisting wall for wooden house.

In this report, the results of performance confirmation of fire-resistant wood members and beam-column joints, and the contents of application cases were reported. The main points are as follows. The refractory sheet was found to have the effect of reducing the temperature of the reinforced gypsum board. It was confirmed that the fire-resistant wood columns, fire-resistant wood beams, fire-resistant wood members, and column-beam joints made of Pc joint members incorporating fire-resistant foam sheets of heat-foamed material have 1 hour of fire resistance without carbonization in the core material.

In cold region, houses without fence are well seen. The aim of this paper is to grasp the actual conditions and inhabitant consciousness about living outdoor space with house’s fence or not. The result of surveying in Muroran City, becomes the following.1) Houses without fence increase. 2) There is a little difference of the actual conditions and inhabitant consciousness between houses with fence or not. 3) Houses with fence have a feature not as privacy but as ornamentation. 4) Almost residents with conditions of no fence do not have a will to set fences.

After 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake, we investigated 80 two-storied damaged houses of light-gauge steel structure by microtremor measurement and visual check. We analyzed the relationship of natural frequency of the houses by microtremor measurement and average displacement response spectrum (0.2 - 0.3 seconds) of construction area. As a result, natural frequency of the houses decrease as the displacement response spectrum increase.

This study is not limited to the Cooperative-Style Group Homes found in Toyama and Miyagi prefectures, but also covers GHs that do not have common facilities and are symbiotic regardless of the building type or system. We conducted questionnaire and interview surveys after revealing the locations of the survey targets. The purpose of the survey was to clarify the factors required for the establishment and management of GHs with integrated services for the elderly and disabled by organizing the outline of the corporation, the building, and the situations of the establishment and management.

In this study, we will focus on the “Sea Cat Study Abroad System”, which has a 22-year history of actually operating the studying abroad island system. As a result, it is worth noting that children’s daily life and school life are not completed only at home or school, but are carried out throughout the region, so that learning and experiences that can not be obtained only at home or school can be obtained. The actual situation was caught. However, there are problems with the adoption of foster parents, such as the aging of the foster parents.

In the case of emergency that requires all the occupants to evacuate from a high-rise building, a method of “phased evacuation” is said to be effective for avoiding congestion in the staircase. However, some occupants will feel anxiety because they are requested to stay there until the other occupants in different floors finish evacuating. This study examines how giving information of phased evacuation influence mental state of the occupants. As a result, disseminating the scheme of phased evacuation and giving detailed information to whole the building decrease anxiety while waiting time, and lead to evacuation as planned.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the development processes of both the sugar industry and the area infrastructure in Kosyun (present-day Hengchun), in southern Taiwan, during the period of Japanese administration. The Kosyun sugar refinery company was established in 1917 and constructed two improved traditional sugar manufacturing plants. The Kaikou port boat basin, in northern Kosyun, was constructed in 1922. In 1926 Kosyun sugar refinery company integrated its two factories into one large sugarcane mill and constructed its push-car railway between Kosyun and Kaikou port. Furthermore, Kosyun sugar refinery company constructed irrigation facilities in the surrounding farmlands.

In recent years, it has become known that children with developmental disabilities have hearing-related difficulties in the learning environment. In this study, we investigated the influence of ambient sound as background noise on the performance of four different cognitive tasks by subjects with developmental disability characteristics, and whether this was mitigated by the sound absorption of the room. The results showed that subjects with developmental disability characteristics tended to score relatively higher on some cognitive tasks under conditions where sound-absorbing material was installed. While further investigation is needed, the results suggest a positive effect of sound absorption.

In this study an ability to improve thermal insulation properties of steel shutters installed at factories was considered. At the first stage heat transmission coefficient of a steel shutter with inward air layer constructed using thin vinyl sheet, were calculated with measured data of air temperatures in and around a steel storeroom and amount of heat flow. And also the effect of inward air layer to prevent the dew condensation on metal components’ surfaces in a factory was verified with measured data of winter thermal environment.

Industrial urbanization disconnected city dwellers from direct access to natural resources. Consequently urban forests were introduced into cities for their aesthetic and environmental qualities, and are managed through the practice of urban forestry, which primarily focuses on maintenance services. However, emerging initiatives around the world are expanding the scope of urban forestry practice through the network generated by untapped forestry resources in the city. This study aims to clarify the potential of urban forestry for fostering citizens participation through resources accessibility, by comparing the network of different case studies based on the resources transformation and the members involvement.

Climate emergency has triggered environmental concerns in different forms of architectural practice. Shenzhen Biennial of Urbanism and Architecture (UABB) provides the framework to question obsolete models that still shape our cities. This report aims to provide a design methodology that addresses the intersection between green resources and the urban environment by examining two pavilions designed by Atelier Bow-Wow + Tsukamoto Laboratory at UABB 2017 and 2019. These projects are the means to reveal the possibility of transforming green waste into resources for reconstructing urban commons based on existing livelihoods. Potentialities and failures are shown, rethinking commons in the contemporary metropolis.
