Harayama area is an area where several newly developed villa areas in the 1970s are gathered, and currently exists as a residential area. The transformation process was as follows. 1. Designation of the area and development of the infrastructure were carried out by the public, and the position as the development site became clear. 2. Public villas and settlement (pension village) were developed and some private companies developed villas town. 3. Individuals started living in undeveloped areas, and the village and the self-governing organization began to coordinate life support services.

This paper aims at evaluating the Shigeyuki Izumi house. Izumi family performed ship business from generation to generation. Izumi family ran the private supplementary school late in the Edo era. A floor plan presents the plane of 9 room arrangement. The used wood is magnificent thickly. It is worthy as a dignified and luxurious house. Fortune-telling figure of a house over 3 terms is left behind. From the figure, the building was reduced in consideration of security than the building before the earthquake. A Shigeyuki Izumi house represents Takuno’s private house construction. And it is a very worthy traditional building.

In recent years, a number of cities in the world are challenging to introduce the advanced ICT technologies such as AI and IoT and manage and operate their cities to be smart. In Japan, The Smart City is highly recognized to solve various urban issues, however, cross section cooperation, evaluation of projects and procedure of projects are unclear. From the analysis of the global Smart City index and the Smart City projects sponsored by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, we concluded that the out-put and out-come evaluations, and cross-section data sharing are highly important to promote Smart Cities.

Architectural planning and operation of latest advanced schools for special needs education in Korea were studied. The schools were characterized by specialized programs for vocational education and had well equipped facilities for training. Differences from Japanese schools were found in class formation policy, allocation of classrooms, and strategies to respond to increase in the number of students. The schools were facing shortage of classrooms and had made conversions. They planned to control the number of student intake to avoid further shortages. This differed from Japanese schools that cope with the situation by having multiple classes share a classroom.

In this study, we analyzed the range of business areas where business profitability could be secured when selling “branded houses” using regional materials. The general administrative expense ratio of 5% or more, which is a condition for securing profitability, was satisfied when the distance from the town S to the site was about 100 km. In addition, the profitability of the entire brand housing new construction business could be ensured when one out of three buildings or three out of five were constructed outside of the town. The distance from town S to the site was about 125 km.

<p>London Olympic Games 2012 presented the new solution of the temporary competition venues located at the central city with city-scape as backdrop and its TV images broadcasted to the world. The broadcasted images of Games showing city-scape with athlete and venues is called "Olympic-scape". Temporary competition venues as research objects, were Greenwich Park (Equestrian), Horse Guards Parade (Beach Volleyball) and the central city (Marathon) The research subject is to reveal characters of camerawork, athlete, venue and cityscape composing Olympic-scape and their relationship by analising the official movies of Olympic channel.</p>

We carried out excavation of the remains of a boiler house in Maizuru 3rd Naval Explosives Arsenal. This investigation consists of measurement of the remains, performance evaluation of concrete, and estimating construction method. As a result, it was estimated that the boiler house was consisted of reinforced concrete foundations/walls, plain concrete floor, and some members from plain or fire bricks. On the other hand, the performance of concrete used for the remains was standard compared with the technical standards during World War II. These results will contribute to the grasp and the evaluation of the then architectural technology and design.

This study developed an environmental design tool by combining an outdoor thermal environment simulation with 3D-CAD system performed on personal computer. The outdoor thermal environment simulation applied in this development is able to predict surface temperature distribution of urban blocks taking the spatial form and materials into consideration. Pre- and Post-processing methods were developed considering actual design process. This development actualizes the input and output process using GUI function. The CAD models created by ordinary drawing process are automatically transformed into the mesh model for the calculation. Also the design parameters, inputted in the CAD model drawing process are converted to the parameters used in heat balance calculation. The output of surface temperature distribution is visually displayed onto CAD model.

New assessment system for buildings known as CASBEE (Comprehensive Assessment System for Building Environmental Efficiency) has been developed. In CASBEE, two environmental aspects i.e. environmental load (L) and quality of building performance (Q) are set as the major assessment targets. BEE (Building Environmental Efficiency) is defined as Q/L, following the concept of eco-efficiency. This assessment structure is the most unique point of CASBEE compared with existing assessment tools. With the increasing BEE value, total environmental performance of buildings is labeled as any of Class C (Poor), B-, B+, A, and S (Excellent). CASBEE is going to provide four tools according to the lifecycle of a building.

This study purposed for prehension about the actual situation of work from the viewpoint of formwork contractors. In this paper, we conducted a questionnaire survey about concrete form plywood, strength and rigidity of form, and formwork based on the experience of formwork carpenters in Kanto region. As a result, it elucidated the actual situation of work, concrete form plywood, strength and rigidity of form, and formwork in the construction site.

Organic reconstituted stone is often used as flooring of buildings in countries outside of Japan. As organic reconstituted stone contains polymer resin, it may discolor yellow by ultra-violet light and heat. At some construction sites, organic reconstituted stone became yellow. Authors conducted tests to investigate the causes of yellowing, methods of prevention and possibilities of further yellowing by replicating the process and making chemical analysis. They found out that long-term exposure to water and heat changes its chemical component and leads to the formation of chromophore having a conjugated double bond and auxochrome having a hydroxyl radical.

<p>The aim of this paper is to clarify the arrangement of elements and activities on street space through the practice of the Sidewalk Cafe in the Orion Street, Utsunomiya city. First, the activities through people's postures and situation and their change are examined. Secondly, the arrangement of elements such as furnitures and advertisements in relationship to adjacent buildings are examined. By integrating them, the sets of the arrangements and activities are analyzed. Finally, through the sequence of the set, the characteristics of the street space are clarified.</p>

As repair works have been carried out in recent years, it became possible for us to analyze this building. We are specifically focusing on the composition of each floor plan, the structure frame and two technical features. One is the prefabricated curtain wall panel which was the first in the world. The other is the system of moveable elements which can be used either as a market, a conference room or a cinema.

Open House is a program, where multiple houses are open to the public simultaneously within a specific area. This research focuses on this program held in Japan and analyses what organisers are aiming at through it and how they approach relevant stakeholders. As a result, it reveals that at an Open House a variety type of events are normally arranged in order to promote totality of architecture and life and work and area value created based on architecture and to provide an opportunity for multiple stakeholders to be involved in local resources management utilising building stocks.

This study focuses on homeowners opening their property to the public at Open House London. On the basis of questionnaire it finally reveals their motivation and role. Close cooperation between a homeowner and an associated architect made a decision of participation and hosted many visitors by providing a guided tour, etc. Homeowners fully understood an organizer's concept "quality of architecture design" and took a responsibility of educating citizens instead of aiming at gaining economical or social benefit or regarding it as an opportunity to start something new. Such a homeowner in fact has repeatedly participated, which makes this program attractive.

The aim of this study is to clarify the changes in water supply systems and their utilization at Motokukuri district in Kani city. The following results were obtained: (1) The main part of water supply systems in this area was built up to the Edo period, and then extended gradually to cover the whole town. (2) Irrigation equipment was daily used by residents until around 1985. Even today, they are used for outdoor activities. However, the community use of water has almost disappeared. Finally, (3) authors noticed different problems related to safety, such as flood disaster.

The paper reports the results of the cause investigations of the suspended ceiling collapse, in the auditorium of Kudan Kaikan, which occurred during the off the pacific of Tohoku earthquake on March 11th, 2011. In part1, the detection of the mechanical behavior and process of the collapse of the ceiling are described, while the structural identification and the historical documentations of it are reported in the part 2.

This study investigates the implementation of cross-border cooperation projects in regional cooperation projects that were adopted under the national government’s grant. In addition, we interviewed individuals from the relevant municipalities to clarify the nature of their cooperation in the project. Our research determined 118 cross-border cooperation projects among 592 regional cooperation projects that were initiated under the grant. These projects can be categorized into two types. The first involves cooperation between neighboring municipalities, and the second involves cooperation between remote municipalities.
