In this paper, we propose a genetic algorithm(GA) with local minimum escaping technique. This proposed method uses the local minimum escaping techique. It can escape from the local minimum by correcting parameters when genetic algorithm falls into a local minimum. Simulations are performed to scheduling problem without buffer capacity using this proposed method, and its validity is shown.

A diet is possible by various methods now. Recently, the system which enables a partial thin figure by using ultrasonic wave and laser is developed. However, these methods are at risk of a burn or the internal hemorrhage. Therefore, the establishment of the safe method not to destroy a fat tissue is expected. In this study, warm and cold stimulus and vibration stimulus were given in the thigh posterior surface, we examined subcutaneous fat changes over time. We aimed at the establishment of the possible method of the simple and safe diet and fat movement using these external stimulus.

Long-term and continuous vital sign monitoring is essential for the early detection of hypertension. Blood pressure sensing based on non-contact biological measurement indices such as photoplethysmograms and skin temperature that can be obtained using visible light and infrared images has been attempted in previous studies. Near-infrared light has high transmissivity to living tissues and has been used for measuring arterial oxygen saturation. This study aims to improve the accuracy of non-contact blood pressure sensing using near-infrared light.

This study is concerned with detection of objects in motion from time serial pictures of a 6-D. of freedom motion monocular camera. As a point in real space throw an image on corresponding pixels of time serial pictures. So to solve this problem to find out the corresponding algorithm is essential. In this paper we proposed a new method of the detection of motion objects based on compensating background image shift caused by camera rotation and translation. The main point of this idea is, to take two pictures by the passive sensor (CCD camera) in two different times tk and tk+_??_ while the platform is moving, by correcting them rotationally (also called vertical rectification) the rotation disparity will be excluded, and we get two parallel frames that will be matched through their histograms for the translation-distortion extraction.

A large number of traffic fatalities are caused by falling asleep at the wheel. Several drowsiness detection technologies have been developed in recent years. A previous study describes how hemodynamics can vary significantly due to drowsiness. However, it was difficult to estimate drowsiness from the time series of hemodynamics. In this study, general models for estimating three drowsiness levels (i.e., high, medium, and low) based on hemodynamics were constructed using a convolutional neural network for detecting the condition before a state of complete sleepiness is reached, the goal being traffic accident prevention. The results showed that the accuracy of the model was 68.9%.

This paper discusses spot allocation in the national high school rugby tournament based on a quantitative strength evaluation method. In the national high school rugby tournament in Japan, each prefecture receives one spot except Hokkaido, which has two spots; Tokyo, which also has two; and Osaka, which has three. In this paper, Kanagawa and Fukuoka prefectures, whose representative teams achieved outstanding results in recent nationwide tournaments, are considered good candidates for extra spots in the tournament. This paper proposes an Elo-based quantitative skill evaluation method using about 1,800 match results. The evaluation results show high accuracy (84%) in match result prediction. In addition, the gaps between the winners and the finalists in Kanagawa and Fukuoka prefectures can be estimated. According to the results, the second team in Kanagawa ranked in the top 10 in the nationwide tournament; therefore, Kanagawa should receive an extra spot in it.

The greedy algorithm is one of solution methods for knapsack problem. Although this algorithm does not necessarily obtain the optimal solution, it can obtain a good solution in short time. We consider this algorithm is very effective at judging the importance of each item.In this paper, we propose a new genetic algorithm for solving a knapsack problem. The algorithm can adjust a search area in consideration of the stability of each item which can obtain from the greedy algorithm. Moreover, we apply the proposed method to a multi-objective problem and a large-scale problem, and test the effectiveness.

<p>Fog-Cloud computing system has recently attracted much attention. This system has a simple three-tiered hierarchy: Network edge, Fog, and Cloud. Network edge includes IoT (Internet of Things) devices. Fog is localized computing facilities including network devices such as an edge router, a switch and any other. In this system, Fog handles various data processing, which are sensitive to delay, to shorten WAN propagation latency arising from the location of Cloud. However, if the data processing is concentrated on Fog, the delay of the processing and power consumption of the network edge may increase rather than Cloud computing. The reason why is because Fog has more limited resources than Cloud. Therefore, we should decide an appropriate allocation of roles between Fog and Cloud taking the latency of the processing and the power consumption of the network edge into account. In this paper, we consider the design of Fog-Cloud computing taking the latency and cost resulted from the power consumption into account by using a mixed integer linear programming.</p>

OSS (Open Source Software) has made remarkable progress in recent years. In ES (Enterprise Software) development process, also the OSS usage has been increasing steadily, which means the impact of OSS to the society has become greater and greater. However, the quantitative analysis for OSS development has been put no particular importance today. In this research, we study to enhance COCOMO model, commonly used for ES development, in order to clarify the relationship between human resources and development volume of OSS development projects. We chose 50 of Large Scale OSS development Projects from GitHub for our analysis, and obtained such three findings as: 1. In OSS development projects, with some arrangement in measuring man-months volume, we found that power formula of COCOMO model can be applied for expressing the relationship between the development volume and the outputs. 2. As OSS development characteristics, with the increase of development volume, the efficiency for development shows the rising trend. 3. The tendency found above has been identified as not the results of diversion as copying and modifying sources nor cumulative contribution made by variety of small developers.

Chromatic dispersion in optical fibers is one of the most important parameters that determine the performance of transmission system. Especially, in the case of recent high-bit-rate and long-haul transmission systems, it is necessary to keep precisely track of the dispersion characteristics of fibers. And the total dispersion of system has to be close to zero by compensating the fiber dispersion, because the dispersion tolerance is very small in such high-bit-rate systems. Firstly in this document, the author explains the basics of chromatic dispersion in fibers and its characteristics of typical fibers. Inthe next, the principle of dispersion compensation techniques and their trends are introduced.

In this paper we propose a 1DOF master-slave system called HandShake Device (HSD). HSD is composed of 2 systems: one is a master system, which is grasped by an operator, the other is a slave system, which grasps the operator's palm. Two HSDs are respectively placed at a local site and a remote site so that people can physically communicate (by shaking hands) each other through HSDs. HSD applies the virtual model method as an algorithm of tele-operation (tele-handshake). HSD was exhibited in SIGGRAPH'95 with Network Neuro Baby (NNB) which is an Artificial Life acting as a network agent in the computer network. HSD is an interface device which an operator can communicate with NNB physically.

Effective utilization of information has become more important in information systems of inter/intranet era, such as real time decision support systems or mass-customization systems. In this paper, a concept of information potential is proposed for considering the effectiveness of information utilization. This concept is analogous to the potential field theory, where the information potential shows the degree of necessity of information in the decision and the information power shows the effect of information in the decision. Based on the proposed concept, a design method of decision support systems is proposed, where the intelligent agent technology is used for evaluating information potential. This method is applied to a real time decision support system, especially a securities dealing decision support system to confirm its effectiveness.

The purpose of this paper is to theoretically identify that there exist stationary distributions in the system with transaction lost. In order to examine this type of system, we formulate and analyze the input/output process as the counting process based on point process. Accordingly, we make clear that this stationary distributions are the geometrical distributions as well. We, also analyze the average transit time in the stationary. We presented the simulation results in order to evaluate this system.

Pressure ulcer is a symptom frequently found in the patients incapable of moving for themselves in paraplegia or defects in central nervous system. It is caused mainly from chronic pressurization of skin tissue, but many other factors are also reported to promote the pressure ulcer. Shear force is among them. Biomechanical researches suggest mechanochemical reaction of cell that can disturb to repair the wound tissue, however, few studies were made about the relationship between the shear force and the pressure ulcer, because of the difficulty in measuring the shear force without affecting the skin condition itself. To measure the shear force without such interference, we have developed a planar shear force gauge, and measured the skin shear force for its preliminary evaluation. The device was found to be useful for the measurement of the local shear force and the skin deformation. However, further investigation on the material for the torsion frame and the fabrication accuracy is necessary.

The authors have conducted studies on Arabic telop recognition to develop a system for video retrieval by keyword to index and edit Arabic broadcast programs received daily and stored in a big database. This paper describes a dedicated OCR for recognizing low resolution telop in video images. A telop recognition system consisting of text line extraction, word segmentation and segmentation-recognition of words is developed and the performance was experimentally evaluated using datasets of frame images extracted from AlJazeera broadcasting programs. Character recognition of moving telop is difficult due to combing noise caused by the interlacing of scan-lines. A technique to detect and eliminate the combing noise to correctly recognize the moving telop is proposed. This paper also proposes a technique based on insertion operation with minimum edit distance between successive two telops to connect them. The method to connect the moving telops is necessary for automatic language translation. The proposed method using edit distance for bi-gram sequence of telops (Method-B) is shown to be robust to recognition error of characters and successfully connect the telops.

In this paper, an illuminating method with the 1/f-fluctuation is proposed to produce the peaceful lighting stage, because it is said that the 1/f-fluctuation will make a relaxed mental state.The light intensity from the normal light bulb is changed by the phase control in the A. C. power source with the 1/f-fluctuation signals generated by performing the First Fourier Transformation (FFT) on the normal random numbers and by passing through the 1/f-filter. The light power spectrum is measured by calculating the picture image from the CCD camera to check the tendency of 1/f-fluctuation in the illumination from the bulb, and also in the flame light from the candle. Physiological impression for the 1/f-fluctuating illumination is compared with the change of the heart rate in other lighting conditions: the normal lighting, and the flashing lighting using the random numbers. From the result of physiological measurements, the decrease in the heart rate for the proposed 1/f-fluctuating illumination is observed.

This paper describes a method to reduce a variance of measured headway distance using stereo vision. In this method, first, headway distances are measured by both the stereo disparity and the difference of the size of a preceding vehicle on image, and then one of them which has smaller variance is chosen as the headway distance. The size of a preceding vehicle on image is measured by a new method of detecting the edges on the preceding vehicle which alleviates the bad influence of change in back ground. A headway distance measuring system using this method has been developed, showing the effectiveness on tracking a preceding vehicle within 25m headway distance.
