This paper analyzes Atsushi Nakajima's works 'the Old Stories', 'the Light, the Wind and the Dream', 'the Stories of the South Islands', and 'the Atoll', which were written before and after his experience in Micronesia. It discusses how Lafcadio Hearn's folklore influenced Nakajima's view towards the South.

Postmodern is (re) defined as a coexistence of two types of worldview perceptions: materialism reflection theory and the third term theory, which is sung by Tanaka Minoru. In the development of Roland Barthes' thought, the essay "The Death of the Author" and "From work to Text" can be considered as Barthes' postmodern. T. Todorov of France and Tando Hirofumi of Japan who criticized the present literary education failed to catch Barthes` thought and could not pass postmodern. Therefore, it should be reconsidered whether literary education criticism made by them is valid. At the end of this paper, I would like to show the appropriate reading of the future cross-research between literature study and literature education study by reading Lu Xun's "Kokyo" in a reading required by post-postmodern thought.

In recent years, Nakajima Atsushi has been regarded very highly for his works about the South Sea Islands in World War II and he has been looked frequently as a resistant, yet some signs in those works suggest that his way of thinking changed as time passed. The aim of this essay is to describe how his thoughts changed and to find out his thinking on the then international situation, especially his ideas about what Japan should be. These issues will be argued by focusing on his thoughts of anti-Modern.

This study investigated policy evaluations in private university reform by Panel Data Analysis, with a focus on universities that apply for type 1 status. In particular, the main study questions were: (1) what kind of universities has applied for type 1 status? (2) Has educational investment increased because of the application or because these universities have applied for type 1 status? (3) How are the four representative approaches ("IR" "Assessment" "Classes Evaluation" "Numbering") specified in related to the first and second questions? The results show that large universities or those that do not require resources for educational investment are applying for type 1 status to obtain funds. "Numbering" that explain the systematic nature of curriculum was the only approach that positively influenced application for type 1 status. Applying for type 1 status was found to have a rather negative effect on educational investment. In addition, the increase in educational investment proved that the size of the university, its age of history, or individualized education were effective. In addition, among the four representative approaches that positively influenced educational investment, "Numbering" was the most representative. I considered by Habermas's "The Theory of Communicative Action" the following: what aim, content and method in learning with essay "Mizu no Tozai" as teaching material of high school can be set. The next thing it was revealed as a result of the consideration. They can be set from three points of view: Infer vagueness of argument (understanding), criticize that contrary to integrity about the way of narrative (criticizing), and examine the validity again (discourse).

A purpose of this paper is to investigate on the source of the guides for learning in Junior high school Japanese language classes of Hama Ohmura, an excellent secondary Japanese teacher. In order to Ohmura's testimony, her "guides for learning" were influenced by any American textbooks and workbooks for English language learning in 1940s-50s. One series of textbooks, Literature: a series of anthologies (A. E. Cross et.al eds.), which is one of the American Educational Library collections, founded in Hiroshima University Library, was analyzed in this paper. By comparing "the study questions" in the textbooks with Ohmura's "guides for learning" in her practical reports, any considerations were founded. At least, Literature: a series of anthologies seemed to give any hints for "guides for learning" by Ohmura, however, it would be not a only source of it, but also any other textbooks an workbooks used in USA would give any cues for generating Ohmura's ideas of "guides for reading" in 1950s. In addition, Such considerations in this paper would give a significant starting point for investigating a post-WW2 history of Japanese language textbooks and instructions.

The Vietnamese language includes vocabulary derived from Chinese called Han-Viet words (từ Hán Việt), and each Chinese character (kanji) has a Vietnamese reading, which is referred to as Han-Viet sounds (âm Hán Việt). The purpose of this study was to investigate the phonological processing of Japanese kanji words by Vietnamese learners of Japanese. In the experiment, intermediate Vietnamese learners of Japanese were asked to perform a naming task. The target Japanese kanji words were selected by manipulating the kanji consistency and the phonological similarities between Vietnamese and Japanese. The results showed that participants had longer reaction times for words having both different kanji and low phonological similarity. This indicates that L2 orthographic representation has strong links to L2 phonological representation regardless of kanji consistency and that the activation of L1 phonological representation does not affect the processing of Japanese kanji words in a naming task. This differs from Chinese and Korean learners of Japanese, in which the activation of L1 phonological representation facilitates the processing of kanji words in naming.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of communication between university students and their parents concerning relationships and marriage on their future view of marriage. The subjects were 189 university students (82 males and 107 females), and 12 were from single-parent households.Male students showed stronger traditional marriage views than female students. Both male and female students emphasized that the "personality" of their future mate was important, as was "value alignment" between themselves and that person. Only male students valued the "appearance" of their future partner, while female students valued other features such as their partner's "jobs", "educational background", "economic power", "having experienced living alone", "compatibility with her parents", and "her compatibility with her partner's family". There is a qualitative difference between male and female students in communication with the opposite-sex parent and a quantitative difference in communication with the same-sex parent. Male students equate themselves with their fathers, and the marriage view of the fathers had an effect on students' views of marriage. Regarding the relationship between the university students and their parents on their view of marriage, male students' marriage perspectives are directly influenced by communication with both their fathers and mothers, while female students' views of marriage are not only affected by the communication itself but by the relationship between the parents.本論文は,平成28年度広島大学教育学部卒業生湯池華子の卒業研究の収集データをもとに作成したものである。

The purpose of this study is to investigate visual recognition of Japanese kanji-word processing on advanced-level Korean students learning Japanese. The orthographic and phonological similarities between Korean and Japanese language were treated as independent variables, while the reaction times from the visual lexical decision task were assigned as the dependent variables. From analysis, facilitation effect of phonological similarities and orthographical similarities was observed. Partly different from the result of a study by Cai, Fei, & Matsumi (2011) whose participants were advanced-level Chinese students, advanced-level Korean students in Korea have immediate processing access to concept by activating Korean phonological representation.

This study focuses on a kind of Bhutanese folk music. Bhutanese people have an antiphonal singing custom, tsangmo. In tsangmo people improvise their words according to the old memorized text on several simple melodies. As Yoshihiro Ino demonstrated, each verse of tsangmo consists of 4 lines with each line having a fixed number of syllables and people sing in turns sometimes employing impromptu singing. In Asia there are many kinds of antiphonal singing like tsangmo but the style of musical dialogue is common feature. The dialogue functions as a system of generating songs. Needless to say it is important for people to be able to sing freely as they want to express their thoughts and feelings. For the reconsideration of leaning process of music classes in elementary schools it might be beneficial to examine the viewpoints of cultural anthropology to the style of singing dialogue like tsangmo.

In this report,Michael Pressley and Peter Afflerbach(1995) Verbal Protocols of Reading was considered as a fundamental work of the assessment of reading. Pressley and Afflerbach constructed a summary of conscious processes during skilled reading. And they used it to suggest that skilled reading is constructively responsive. They emphasized the importance of much experience which students actually attempt to comprehend and learn from text, selecting and carrying up text processing before the repertoire of responses that skilled reads use becomes habitual. Hence, we must assess the student's ability of selecting and carry up text processing. I pointed out that if we attempted to assess the ability, the summary of conscious processes and a thumbnail sketch of constructively responsive reading constructed by Pressley and Afflerbach would be useful because it will clear up which the student selected and carried up text processing and whether he or she can do so well. And, I concluded that it was important to conduct the valid assessment of reading with use of the summary of conscious pro-cessing and the thumbnail sketch of constructively responsive reading.

'Fushizukuri Education' is known as a great music education in Japan after the war. It was practiced in Furukawa Elementary School in Gifu Prefecture from the late 1960's to the early 1970's. This education was continued more than 10 years and was highly appreciated nationwide. Behind these brilliant successes, there were mainly two reasons. The one is the introduction of the educational philosophy by the principal, Ichiro Nakaya and the other is a great deal of effort of all teachers at the school including the chief music teacher Toshihiro Yamasaki.This study examined book and study reports which were written by Yamasaki. The concept of 'Fushizukuri Education' in Furukawa Elementary School was that all teachers are responsible to raise all children. The aim of this education was not only to teach music, but also to form the personal character through voluntary music activities. The characteristics of its teaching method are as follows: Basic musical abilities can be naturally developed by using double teaching methods ('Fushizukuri Education' curriculum and course materials study); Motivation for learning can be increased through the creative activity of 'Fushizukuri'; Aim to enhance personal character formation through 'Fushizukuri' activity as a group activity; Various musical signals are used in the music lessons; Information about music can be acquired by listening to music and imitating to sing songs and play instruments as teacher and/or children do; and creative activities can be seen as a result of all these effects.

Owing to the decrease of the population of 18 year-old from the late of 1990s in Japan, around the half of private universities are short of their quotas. Such universities are called "Border-Free Universities", which do not have the obstacles to enter and are accepting applications for admission on the recommendation systems. In this article, the significance and the problems of student surveys at "Border-Free Universities" will be discussed. Firstly, the problems of current student surveys are examined. Secondly the characteristics of the students of "Border-Free Universities" are clarified using the survey results of universities in the west of Japan in 2008. Finally, from the examination above, three topics are discussed. 1) Universities in Japan are stratified and classified in a few types. "Border-Free Universities" are completely different from other types, so that the unique research frameworks to examine such universities. 2) The activities of each university affect the student behaviors, so the difference of each university should be examined. 3) To clarify the relationship between the activities of each university and student behaviors, fieldwork and other qualitative methods are required in the research at "Border-Free Universities".

A taxonomical review of the genus Jesogammarus (Crustacea: Amphipoda) is provided, listing 17 species in two subgenera as valid. In addition, phylogenetic relationships among species in the genus are mentioned.

The current study examines the dialect of Okayama city, particularly the sentence-final particle de, which is analogous to the Japanese common language sentence-final particle yo. A comparison of de and yo revealed two main findings. First, similar to the Japanese common language, the basic meaning of de in the Okayama city dialect is to display mental manipulation and represent a gap in recognition. The particle de conveys different meanings based on its intonation: pronouncing de with a rising intonation indicates the compulsion of mental operation, while a falling tone indicates the delegation of mental operation. Second, in the Okayama city dialect, de can be used in different ways. It can be used to express something that is not apparent to the speaker or to refer to the display of a limited gap in recognition, and it does not require a reaction from the audience.

This article aims to discuss a method of research concerning the social interaction of children with developmental disorders. Children with developmental disorders are often provided early childhood education as part of integrated childcare. Because of such situation, many positive analyses which focus on social interacion of children with developmental disorders are cumulative. Many studies reveal the characteristics of these children's social interactions and provide practical advice that, if applied, results in effective practices and better-developed children. Many qualitative analyses concerning the sociology of education have been conducted. Some of this research attempts to reveal the socialization processes of children who do not have any disorders. In this article, I consider the possibility of using a qualitative method in studying the social interaction between children with developmental disorders and teachers or classmates in dynamic situations. Such research will demonstrate the social aspects of "developmental disorders.".

Konjyakumonogatarisyu(今昔物語集) is the good source in the middle age in Japan. This thesis makes report about how the Chinese character was used, they are in 30th story from the first story of "Konjyakumonogatarisyu(今昔物語集)" volume 2. The results of the investigation is recorded as follows: one chinese character in the single word is 87.4%, two chinese characters in the single word is 11.1%, more than three chinese characters in the single word is 1.5%. And the noun is often one chinese character in the single word. On the other hand, a lot of more than two chinese characters in the single word is in the verb.

The present study examined preschoolers' right and wrong judgments about provocative, retaliative, and punitive aggression. Fifty-three preschoolers (range 32 to 76 months) were presented with three picture stories in which the main character showed either provocative, retaliative, or punitive aggression. Following each story, the children were asked to judge (1) whether the aggression was right or wrong, (2) whether they would like to play with the main character, and (3) whether they would behave like the main character. The results were as follows: (1) Younger children (range 32 to 53 months) judged all types of aggression to be wrong. However, older children (range 55 to 76 months) allowed retaliative and punitive aggression, whereas they judged provocative aggression to be wrong. (2) Younger children reported that they would like to play with all of the main characters to the same extent. However, older children rejected to play with the main character who showed provocative aggression. (3) Children reported that they would show punitive aggression in some degree, but that they would never show provocative aggression. The results indicate that judgments of older children are based on the concepts of harm and retributive justice (i.e., they possess moral concepts that are independent of authority), whereas judgments of younger children tend to be oriented toward authority (e.g., aggression is wrong because it is punished by adults).

Previous studies have shown that prosodic information plays an important role in spoken word recognition by L2 learners (Cooper et al., 2002). However, it still remains unclear exactly how and when learners use prosodic cues in the word recognition process. This study aims at answering the question whether Korean (Seoul dialect) learners of Japanese utilize prosodic information incrementally by investigating exactly how and when L2 learners use accentual information in the course of word recognition process. We conducted eye-tracking experiments with a visual world paradigm, using artificial Japanese words.
