Discourse and representation has the power to influence how we understand reality through the creation of cultural norms. Furthermore, the way dominant discourses frame the Ainu reality within Japan can have a profound effect because the majority of ethnic Japanese lack meaningful contact with Ainu people to make their own informed decisions. One controversial issue through which this can be examined is Ainu ancestral remains repatriation. As there is extensive discourse relating to this issue from both the dominant government perspective and the Ainu perspective this study aims to uncover the conflicting discourses present in modern-day Japan and how these affect power relations between the Ainu and ethnic Japanese populations. Additionally an analysis of how the Ainu are using documentary as a form of self-representation is included. This research intends to fill current gaps in academic literature relating to Ainu use of media and representation issues.

本稿は、LGBTsに関する臨床心理学的支援をテーマに、青年期の同性愛当事者のケースについて、性指向におけるアンデンティ構築の視点から検討することを目的としたものである。また、アイデンティティの構築過程における葛藤について、段階に応じた援助的アプローチについて述べる。性指向とは、性的関心や欲求の向かう対象を指し、本稿では青年期の同性愛当事者ケースにおいて、どのように当事者が性指向に関連する葛藤を体験し、その臨床心理学的援助のあり方をどう考えることができるのかについて、2つのエピソード事例をもとに検討を試みた。共通して、Thの多様な性に対しての肯定的態度やジェンダーニュートラルな姿勢は欠かせないものであったが、アイデンティティ構築の段階やセルフスティグマの強さによりアプローチのポイントが異なった。クライエントの自己受容のありようを見立て、次のステップに促進的な援助が必要であると考察した。

This study argues on the influence of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein in Yanase Takashi's fairy tales. Specifically, I take up Anpanman and Kyurakyura no Chi for discussion. The motifs of ugliness and the oppressed person are shown in these two fairy tales as well as in Frankenstein. Through comparison of both writers works, it can be considered that Yanase found important source of ideas for his works in Frankenstein.

Objective: To examine whether respondents majoring in natural science (rikei) in higher education(under graduate and graduate university) are non-religious. Methods: Data from the 2008 ]apanese General Social Surveys (JGSS・2008) is analyzed. Dependent variables are 1) religious affiliation,2) devotion,a nd 3) confidence in religious organizations. Independent variable is whether respondents majoring in natural science (rikei) or human-social science (bunkei) in higher education. After cross-tabulation analyses,mu ltinominallogit analyses and ordered logit analyses are conducted with the net effects of various socio-demographic and educational variables. Results: Respondents majoring in natural science are not significant1y less religious than those who majored in human-social science in higher education, even though controlling various control variables. Conclusions: The widely accepted idea that those who majored in natural science in higher education are non-religious is partially rejected.
