This paper reviews the theoretical background and recent trends within ecosystem research. Although the concept of an ecosystem is attracting attention these days, its definition remains ambiguous. Thus, we aim to clarify what makes ecosystem so ambiguous, and what makes ecosystem different from other research streams — the real features. The results of our reviews highlights that is based on the fact that ecosystem has developed from two different perspective : “Organizational Approach (given the existence of a central actor (leader) responsible for the overall value proposition of the ecosystem, leaders can connect directly with complemental actor to control and coordinate them directly)” and “Structural Approaches (an agreedupon interorganizational relationship that does not assume the existence of a central actor (leader) which does not necessarily link actors directly)” and that “structural approach” has developed by incorporating various elements. We also derive that the ecosystem concept is characterized by “Multilateral, nongeneral, non-hierarchical complementarity”.

Background and Purpose: High blood viscosity causes blood stagnation and subsequent pathological thrombotic events, resulting in the development of ischemic stroke. We hypothesize that the contribution of blood viscosity may differ among ischemic stroke subtypes based on specific pathological conditions. We tried to verify this hypothesis by measuring blood viscosity in acute ischemic stroke patients using a newly developed electromagnetic spinning sphere (EMS) viscometer. Methods: Measurements in acute ischemic stroke patients were performed 4 times during admission and data were compared with those obtained from 100 healthy outpatient volunteers. Results: We enrolled 92 patients (cardioembolism [CE]: 25, large-artery atherosclerosis [LAA]: 42, and small artery occlusion [SAO]: 25) in this study. Comparisons of blood viscosity between the ischemic stroke subgroups and control group revealed that blood viscosity at the date of admission was significantly higher in the SAO group (5.37±1.11 mPa・s) than in the control group (4.66±0.72 mPa・s) (p<0.01). Among all subtype groups showing a reduction in blood viscosity after 2 weeks, the SAO group showed the highest and most significant reduction, indicating that SAO patients had the most concentrated blood at the onset. Conclusions: Blood viscosity was significantly increased in the SAO group at the date of admission, which indicated the contribution of dehydration to the onset of ischemic stroke. The importance of dehydration needs to be emphasized more in the pathogenesis of SAO. The clinical application of the EMS viscometer is promising for understanding and differentiating the pathogenesis of ischemic stroke.

約120年前に誕生したシネマと同時に,映画の理解を促すための,後ほど映画理論と呼ばれた研究分野が生まれた。その研究分野を総合的に考察した巨大な著作『Film Theory』では,トマス・エルセサーとマルテ・ハーゲネルは映画理論の最優先すべき問題を1つの問い掛けで次のようにまとめた。「映画とその観客の間には,どういった関係があるのか」。映画と観客の関係性を把握し説明するために,作家や作品,ジャンル,あるいは映像などを中心とする分析は,むろんのこと非常に重要である。しかし,その関係をより科学的に記述することのできる理論は,90年代までに現れていない。と2人の著者が主張する。要するに映画理論で初期時代から絶えず言語学,美術史学,哲学および精神科学などが参考として確実に利用されているとはいえ,その点に関する理解はまだ不十分であるというのが現実であるという。本稿では,1つの路線,すなわち現象学に基づく映画理論(Phenomenological film theory)からの提案に絞って観客と映画の関係性が孕む諸問題に触れたい。該当路線の先駆者であるヴィヴィアン・ソブチャックは,『The Address of the Eye』という先行研究で認知心理学の見方から出発して観客の立場を徹底的に再定義し,映画を観る行為を多感覚的体験として論じあげた。本稿でこの理論を包括的にまとめることは難しいとしても,ソブチャックの他に現象学的路線の2人の代表者,ローラ・U・マークスとジェニファー・バーカーによるテキストを精読した上で,今後の研究課題の出発点を俎に載せたい。
