Because many veteran operators retired in chemical industries, it is very important to educate and train efficiently novice operators to have the basic operation skills. The authors conducted two kinds of experiments using a semi-scale thermal power plant emulator to investigate the factors to induce violations and to evaluate the applicability of a training manual with a checklist of operation steps. The results related with operation errors including the violations of operation rules such as finger and calling, sitting on a chair at maneuvering on the operation panel, etc. showed different tendency between the experiments. This paper compares the numbers and types of operation errors in the two operation experiments to investigate the causes of the difference. The comparison results suggest that pointing out operation errors after the completion of an operation task has positive effect for acquiring basic operation skills.

This study analyzes the factors for detecting agents to implement a human-like agent in werewolf games, which are new themes in game studies of artificial intelligence. A comparative experiment was conducted to reveal the influences regarding the degree of disclosure of the agent existence; seven players and an agent participated in four games. Communication logs were collected from the game logs. Impressions for each player was reported in questionnaires with five-point scales and detection of the agent were reported in a free writing. Although the most players, who did not know that an agent played the games, did not be aware of the true character of the agent, the most players who knew the existence could detect the agent. The statements of detected agents differed from them of other players. This study concludes that the technical requirement for agents is to adapt to statements of other players.

本研究では,人狼ゲームにおける人間らしいエージェントの実現のために,人間とエージェントによるゲームプレイを分析する.ゲームの要と予想される人狼の騙りと他者への同調に注目し,騙りの有無,同調の有無に基づいた2種類の人狼エージェントを用いて人間と人狼ゲームを行う.そして,自然なコミュニケーションの評価指標としてゲームの勝敗や人狼の看破情報等をもとに人間らしいエージェントの要素を分析する.

We focus on a quadruped robot as a mobile platform which would work at various environment such as disaster sites, offices and factories. In this paper, we assume that terrain consists of slopes and we propose a walking gait for a quadruped robot on unknown slopes. In this method, the robot basically walks in trot gait because trot gait has both high stability and practical walking speed in order to walk stably on steep slopes. At first, robot estimates slant of the slope by using body attitude and foot positions on the slope. Then it generates walking pattern for the robot to walk stably on the slope by using inverted pendulum model and multi-mass model of the robot. The proposed method was verified through experiments with a quadruped robot TITAN-VIII walked on slopes where a step or other slope exist halfway.

In recent years, the number of younger operators increases in the Japanese industrial plants because of the alternation of generations. The operation manual becomes more important for the safe and stable operations. We analyzed the reported trouble cases happened in the petroleum and nuclear industries due to the problems of operation manuals. The analyses revealed that most of the trouble cases were caused by insufficient information in the part of remarks in operation manuals. This study investigates experimentally the influence of insufficient information in the part of remarks in operation manuals on the performance of novice plant operators using a semi-scale boiler type power generation plant. Two types of operation manuals are prepared for the experiment. The first one is the set of original operation manuals. That is, this type includes all information described in the original operation manuals. The other type of operation manuals has some missing information in the part. The experimental results show that the usage of the operation manuals describing all information has much effect to decrease the operation risk and the rate of omitting operation actions although the operation time to complete the task becomes longer. The sufficient description of the information has little effect on the understanding of operations.

This article discusses the potential of Captology, a concept of the persuasive technologies, for long-term rehabilitation. Continuous rehabilitations to patients with chronic regional pain syndrome are an essential way to ameliorate the pain. Although the effects on a patient diminish when suspending the rehabilitation, he/she often feels resigned to keep it. Interference factors against the rehabilitation consist of difficulties to recognize the effects from the rehabilitation, interminable and repetitive rehabilitation, and complicated processes involving data collection for providing quality amelioration. Captology is one of promising concepts to solve these problems. We developed a set of functions with four principles from Captology, that is, Praise, Reduction, Tunneling and Self-Monitoring, into the system named VR/MVF for the sake of maintaining patient's motivation. One of the significant functions was developed to apply the principle of Praise. The system displays messages of praising/scolding to notice appropriate/inappropriate behaviors to him/her. The principles of Reduction and Tunneling were applied to reduce the burden of the system use. Tracking medical records by the principle of Self-Monitoring was employed to indicate the effects of rehabilitation to the patient.

原子炉施設情報公開ライブラリーに公開された情報を、原子力安全システム研究所が考案した原因分類により、複数の「一般大衆」と「専門家」の分析者による分類結果のばらつきを評価したところ、両者ともばらつきが見られたが、そのばらつきの傾向に類似性の有るものと無いものに区分できた。

This study develops a mixing machine driven by a spherical motor that can rotate around any axis. The developed mixing machine is composed of a rotor, a stator, a control PC, an electro-magnet excitation circuit, and a power supply. The rotor that its outer diameter is 200 [mm] is composed of double spherical shells in order to contain liquid in its inner spherical shell. Totally 91 permanent magnets are arranged in almost spherical symmetry on the inner surface of the outer spherical shell. On the other hand, 80 electro-magnets are arranged on the stator of a semi-spherical shell. The applicability of the mixing machine to material production under the condition of small influence of gravitational force is evaluated by mixing experiments to dissolve salt of 50 [g] in water of 200 [g]. The mixing performance is compared for five mixing methods. The results show that the mixing performance of the method to change randomly the rotation direction is only slightly lower than that of the method of rotating continuously around a horizontal axis that exhibits the highest mixing performance.

This study investigates a computer support system applying functional modeling techniques for the conceptual design phase of engineering systems. The previous paper proposed a systematic representation of design information from the viewpoints of goals, functions, and structure. This paper describes a support system of component assignment to functions by effectively using past design cases, where two case retrieval techniques are proposed. The one called "function flow simplification matching" simplifies the function flow of a case and compares it with the function flow specified by the designer. This matching technique realizes flexible case retrieval. The other is the utilization of ordinal component hierarchy data abstracted from past similar plant designs. The data is used to go into the details of design structure step by step. The feasibility of the component assignment technique is investigated by some design trials of a fluidized refuse incineration plant.

This study develops a dialogue model and a command interpretation technique for service robots to obtain interactively the necessary information of actions for the tasks requested from users. A request from users sometimes misses some data necessary to complete the requested task because a voice command is usually requested depending on context and situation. The developed command interpretation technique first divides a command into words. Then, it analyzes the content of the command paying attention to the verb used and object included. If there are some missing data in the command, it sequentially generates queries to obtain them. The applicability of the dialogue model and the technique is demonstrated by dialogue experiments using a robot arm system.

人間が生活する環境において移動マニピュレータが対象物を探索・把持することは,現在のセンサ技術では,非常に困難である.そこで本研究では,対象物にデバイスを取り付け,このデバイスとロボットに搭載したマーク認識デバイスが通信を行うことで,対象物の識別と位置の確認を行うシステム(インテリジェントマークシステム:IMS)を構築し,さらに獲得した情報をもとに,移動マニピュレータによる対象物の把持・運搬の動作の実現を目指した研究を行った.IMSは,環境に存在する様々な物体に貼付し,それぞれのIMSは識別コードを記憶することが可能である.このIMSから発信する情報を,ロボットに搭載したマーク検出デバイスにより獲得することで,対象物の認識を行うことができる.平成15年度には,平成14年度に作成したプロトタイプのマークを,2cm角の基板上に搭載し,小型のマークを実現した.また,マーク検出デバイスについては,多数の物体に貼付した識別コードの中から特定のグループまたは特定のマークだけを呼び出し交信する機能を実現した.また,このマーク検出デバイスを小型移動マニピュレータに搭載した.さらに,マークの位置認識を行うため,マーク検出デバイスには,視野の広い全方向カメラと,視野の比較的狭いハンドアイシステムを利用したステレオ視システムを導入した.以上に示した通り,本申請研究の2年目には,環境内や対象物体に貼られた小型の複数のIMSとロボットが通信を行う基本システムが完成した.さらに,このシステムを利用し,環境に固定されたIMSとロボットの通信によるロボットの自己位置の推定,環境中の障害物に貼られたIMSとの通信による,障害物の位置認識,さらに,対象物に貼られたIMSによる対象物の把持動作を実現した.

Functional modelling techniques are recently used to include the intensions of system designers into models of a system. Functions are higher level than behaviour and they are sometimes given different meanings depending on a system situation. Therefore, it is important to be able to derive behaviour from a functional model. This paper describes techniques to represent goals-functions-structure and to derive system behaviour from a functional model through a structure model, where the Multilevel Flow Modelling (MFM) and the Hybrid Phenomena Theory (HPT) are effectively combined. The MFM is a methodology to model an engineering system from the standpoint of means and goals. It has been applied to diagnostic, planning, and man-machine interface design problems. The HPT is a method to model the relations between structure and behaviour. One useful application of the HPT is to derive mathematical equations describing system's behaviour from structural information. The MFM is extended to be able to represent systematically abstracted information of structure of a system. The HPT is applied to derive the behaviour of a system from its structure model. A transformation mechanism from a MFM model to its corresponding HPT representation is developed to bridge the MFM and HPT. A simple example to model a central heating system and to derive its behaviour demonstrates the proposed techniques.
