The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between cognitive skill and concentration, based on brain waves measured before and after eSports activity. Participants were twenty male collegiate students belonging to an eSports club (Mean Age ± 21.40, SD = 1.65). At first, participants were put on a simple electroencephalograph (EEG) and their psychological state at rest was measured for 2 minutes. After that, Stroop Color Word Test (SCWT) was conducted to measure their cognitive skill (execution function) before the eSports activity. In addition, after the eSports activity, SCWT was conducted again. In this study, the HAKARO series Stroop test (Digital Standard Co., Ltd.) was used to measure cognitive skill (execution function). To examine the degree of concentration during eSports activity, this study adopted a simple band-type EEG that only measures the Fp1 point as defined by the international 10-20 systems. In addition, for analyzing concentration, Sports KANSEI, which is a software for estimating the degree of concentration from the combination of raw EEG data, was used. As a result, this study indicated that cognitive skill (executive function) might be improved before and after eSports activity, and concentration might appear during eSports play. However, research on eSports is still in its accumulation stage in Japan, so further investigation might be necessary.

The purpose of this study was to examine the changes in characteristics of spectators of professional basketball teams, and the relationship between frequency of attendance and participant motives in Sapporo. The name of the professional basketball team and its company changed from "Rera Kamuy Hokkaido" to "Levanga Hokkaido" in 2011. Questionnaire surveys conducted in 2010 and 2012 were analyzed. Findings indicated that between the two research periods there was no change in spectators′ characteristics according to sex and age groups. Previous studies had indicated that 70% of spectators were women and half of these female spectators were between the ages of 20-40. About 80% of spectators surveyed participated in both research periods. The 2012 results indicated that the percent of spectators who had belonged to basketball club in their junior and high school days was higher compared to that in 2010.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the influence of watching an exhibition match by coaches on tennis club members.<BR>    In order to examine that, we conducted 3 studies as follows:<BR>【Study 1】: To make a hypothesis about the influence of watching an exhibition match by coaches on club members, we conducted interview researches for spectators in the exhibition match of November 2011.<BR>【Study 2】: To test the hypothesis quantitatively, we staged an exhibition match again and carried out a questionnaire survey for tennis club members before and after the exhibition match.<BR>【Study 3】: To supplement Study 1 and Study 2, we conducted interview research for coaches of players in the exhibition match and to clarify the influence of watching the exhibition match on club members, from the standpoint of coaches.<BR>    As a result, the main findings are summarized as follows. First, watching an exhibition match by coaches affects "tennis commitment (watching) " , "respect" , "psychological distance for coaches" , and "attitude for tennis" among club members. In addition, watching an exhibition match by coaches affects "Trigger of Skill Mastery" and "to break out from routine" . Therefore, staging an exhibition match could be effective as a strategy in club management.

The aim of this study was to verify the hypothesis that the inhabitants who have higher spectating intention or behavior at sporting events in their hometown hold higher place attachment.     Through the comparison of place attachment among the inhabitants, significant differences have been found. The inhabitants who have higher spectating intention hold a higher degree of place attachment. Moreover, the inhabitants who have experience of spectating behavior hold a higher degree of place attachment than those who do not have it.    The results of this study indicate some existence of the relationship between spectating intentions or behaviors at sporting events, and place attachment. However, the cause and effect relationship between them has not been established clearly. It is necessary to make continuous research targeted at the inhabitants.

One of the authors has analyzed the relationship between playing and spectating sports behavior during school-hood by setting adult sports spectating behavior as an explained variable, and confirmed a certain relationship. The purpose of this study was to clarify what timing of school-age the groups which come into contact with sports tend to continue or resume spectating sports in adulthood, based on the theory of carry over effect. The data was secondarily obtained from the research conducted by the Japan Volleyball League organization through an online survey. The respondents were asked whether or not they had experienced spectating or playing sports at each school-age stage (elementary school, junior high school, high school and university). Spearman′s rank correlation coefficients between spectating or playing sports in each school-age and the behavior modification stage of spectating were calculated, and Fisher's z-transformation and Bonferroni correction were used to evaluate the significance of difference in correlation coefficients for each school-age. As in the previous research on playing sports, the results revealed that spectating in university indicated significantly higher correlation with the behavior modification stage of current spectating, compared with other school-ages. In some cases of excluding the group that had been spectating since school-age, the correlation coefficients between spectating in elementary school/junior high school and the behavior modification stage of current spectating showed significant differences in comparison with other ages. This suggested that past experience may be carried over and facilitate resumption of spectating in adulthood, even when interrupted. Our results suggest that sports organizations are required to have a medium- to long-term perspective that takes into account the re-socialization of spectators while consciously targeting the school-age in which significant tendency is confirmed.

This research compared university student-athletes and other university students to analyze differences in attitudes towards COVID-19. The objective was to examine the impact of student-athletes′ attitudes on their future athletic activities and perform verification that will contribute to the deliberation and creation of university support measures for student-athletes. Google Forms were used to administer an online questionnaire to university students nationwide. The responses to questions on the questionnaire were recorded on either 5 or 8 point scales, as well as open-ended questions without word limitations at the end of the questionnaire. The results were analyzed by separating results into two cohorts; student-athletes and other university students, and then categorizing responses to each question as positive or negative. Cross-tabulation was used and then Fischer′s exact test was performed. To analyze the open-ended questions, KH-Coder3 software, which excels at Japanese analysis and is used in a great deal of research, was used. The analysis found a significant difference for some questions. In particular, a greater percentage of student-athletes than other university students felt unease regarding infection at university facilities, the impact of infection on university life, and the impact on activities from April 2020 onwards. Some of the reasons for the higher percentage of responses indicating unease were the lack of transparency in student life, with universities not defining clear approaches.

There is a hypothesis that the English Premier League clubs, whose broadcast rights are over 50% of their total revenue, fail to place importance on individual customers. At the same time, there is another hypothesis that Japanese League clubs, whose broadcast rights are limited - i.e. about 21 billion yen a year is divided among 55 clubs - should consider that individual customers are important with regard to their managerial judgement. This study analyzes football clubs' Mission Statements regarding who is targeted in order to create values or solve the problems they may have on a daily basis. Charters of 20 clubs of Premier League and Creeds of 55 clubs of Japanese League were investigated by utilizing a KH Coder, which is suitable for data analysis of words of Japanese and English. This contributed to the discovery of the fact that it is the Premier League, rather than the Japanese League, that uses a lot of words such as “supporter,” which refer to individual customers. Despite the fact that in the Premier League at least 10 billion yen per club is guaranteed from broadcast rights and revenue from individual customers is under 20% of total revenue, they share their will to promise supporters to provide values that meet their potential needs through mission statements such as Charters. This might be why very high average attendances are realized and an attractive market has been established. On the other hand, the Japanese League - about which it has been pointed out that “there is no awareness of customer's definition in Japanese professional sports management (Machida, 2016)”- should review and rebuild its mission statement by using appropriate words, such as those used by the Premier League. It is argued that this is one of the important factors which will influence the future development of Japanese football.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the total economic value and value structure of professional sports teams through the CVM approach. The results of the survey showed that the average of willingness to pay (WTP) was 587 yen, and the population of WTP was about 3.28 billion yen. From the weighting of use value and non-use value, the value as private goods was estimated to be 217 yen for WTP and the value as public goods was estimated at 316 yen. The results of this study have academic significance in that the professional sports teams quantitatively showed the values of public goods as well as private goods, while leaving certain problems in the model. In the future, it will be necessary to develop value categories that match the field of sports science, and the development of a scale for social benefits provided by professional sports teams will also be an issue.

The purpose of this research was to investigate the current situation in which youth teams in Europe are producing football players in strong teams and to explore the success model of the youth teams. The youth teams of the European top four major league division teams were examined, and as a result of calculating the contribution points based on the UEFA club ranking, the first place was Real Madrid youth, the second place was Barcelona Youth. Among the top 10 teams in total points, there were teams that showed high points even if they were not such strong teams. Also, although Manchester City Youth has produced many players, it did not differ much from other teams in regard to total points. In addition, there were teams that promoted many players in their top teams, like Athletic Bilbao Youth. Based on the above surveys, it was considered that the teams that successfully trained players could be classified into the following three major categories. ① Multi-player High Level Type, including Real Madrid youth and Barcelona youth, producing many players and operating at a high level. ② Self-Team Contribution Type, including Athletic Bilbao Youth, promoting many players to their own top team. ③ Release to Other Teams Type, including Manchester City Youth, producing numerous players who join other teams

The Israel Baseball League (IBL) that started in the summer of 2007 is one example of the expanding of sports in recent years that has an increasing relation with capital. Most IBL players come from outside of Israel. Players from developed countries participate in the league by using the vacation for their self-actualization. On the contrary, players from developing nations come to obtain provisions of life. This means a "CenterPeripheral" relation is occurring, from the areas where professional baseball has been played to the baseball-barren "Deterritorialized" world of Israel. It is thought Jewish nationalism is a great factor supporting the professional league which suddenly started in Israel, where profits can't be expected from the baseball business. In fact, the IBL carries out the function of getting U.S. immigrants to imagine solidarity with the Jewish community in the native state. At present, professional baseball is in the process of developing a global aspect, supported by the MLB, and in North America a business model of "Independent Leagues" that supplements this flow has appeared. It can be said that the IBL is one of the "Independent Leagues" that is also expanding globally. Though sports have spread from "Central" to "Peripheral" nations as a cultural event before, the current expansion is being accomplished as one of the systems of production. We can see one aspect of how globalization has influenced of sports from this example of IBL.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Although previous researches have suggested that Team Identification (Team ID) and Place Attachment are positively correlated, the causal relationship between them has not been clarified sufficiently.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In this research we attempted to verify the hypothesis that &ldquo;inhabitants who have raised the Team ID will raise Place Attachment, compared to the inhabitants who have not raised it.&rdquo; The investigation method was a longitudinal survey focused on inhabitants of Imabari City, designed to assess the change in the Team ID and Place Attachment.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The results of the two-way ANOVA showed that there was a significant difference between the Place Attachment of inhabitants who had raised the Team ID and those who had not. Place Attachment of the former increased, and thus the hypothesis was supported.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The causal relationship between Team ID and Place Attachment been clarified by this research, however, the existence and the influence of other parameters have not been clarified. In order to clarify the mechanism between Team ID and Place Attachment, accumulation of expert knowledge will be required.

The aim of this research was to clarify the change in service quality of a stadium before and after the introduction of CCT using one facility in Japan as a case study, and to compare some performance data before and after the introduction of CCT. The data before CCT were collected in May 2006 and the post- CCT data were collected in November 2008. Random sampling of respondents was used in those years. In total, 758 respondents in 2006 and 292 respondents in 2008 were asked to complete the questionnaire after the football game. Some of the mean scores of "Cleanliness and comfort" , "Food and drink" , "Litter box" , "Toilet" and "Staff" were significantly higher than those of before CCT. However, the service quality of "Easy to watch" did not change between those years significantly.

This study aims at revealing the current situation and challenges of the sports instructor overseas dispatching project. For that aim, in this paper, in our analysis of the activities of Bhutan National football team in this project, we categorized those activities and suggested the following policies to strengthen the team. First, we need to organize a system for scouting and developing new talent. We also need to promote football and improve the circumstances for playing football. Making opportunities for players to experience big matches and training sessions abroad is also essential.
