Of the method of making Pompon Tufting, a way of using a rectangular cardboard pattern was examined tentatively. The cardboard should be long enough to wind the desired full length of the yarn around, and, as winding, it is necessary to make it uniform and not to tense. Width of the cardboard will be the same as desired for the finished pompon. Where to cut and where to tie the wound yarn should be marked clearly with chalk before the cardboard is removed. Instead of the cardboard, pencils may be used. The round of the pencils bound is as following; circular pencils : 2r(π+n) six-angle pencils : 6r+n√<3r> r=a pencil's radius, n=number of pencils bound, π=the circular constant.

家庭科と公民科の関連性を明らかにし,連携の方策を検討するため,家庭科および公民科教員の意見,教科教育学研究者の教育目標論,教科書キーワード,学習指導要領記述等の比較を行った。結果の概要は,次のとおりである。(1)教育目標については,(1)公民科教員の意見では,家庭科で目指している能力目標13項目のうち,公民科でも育成したい能力として,50%以上の者が,5項目をあげており,関連性が高い教科ととらえられている。(2)両教科の教育学研究者の資質目標には共通性がみられる。(3)学習指導要領で示されている資質目標は明確に異なる。(2)学習内容については,(1)両教科担当教員の意見はほぼ同傾向を示し,家族領域は家庭科で,経済領域は公民科で,福祉領域,消費領域は両教科でとされている。(2)教科書のキーワード出現頻度の比較では,家族領域のキーワードは,「家庭一般」での出現頻度のほうが高く,家庭科独自の領域といえる。福祉領域,消費領域のキーワードは,両科目間の出現頻度差が低く,重複部分が多い領域といえる。(3)学習指導要領では,かなり重複する部分がある。(3)学習方法については,(1)教科担当教員の意見では,家庭科教員のほうが体験的学習導入への意欲が高い。(2)学習指導要領では,両教科とも,体験的,学習を重視しているが,家庭科では,実験・実習を通した学習を,公民科では,資料を通した学習を重視するという点で異なっている。以上の結果から,家庭科と公民科目標,内容,方法の関連性が明らかとなり,今後の連携のあり方についての示唆をえることができた。稿を終えるにあたり,本調査にご協力くださった方々に厚くお礼申しあげます。なお,本研究は,1997年7月6日,日本家庭科教育学会第40回大会において発表したものを発展させ,加筆したものである。

Teaching materials were developed for housing studies of home economics education in senior high school. The teaching material to be reported was a study sheet simulating how to use the living space in a small town house. Evaluation of the study sheet was performed by giving this to senior high school students (n=241) in Kyoto Prefecture, after taking lessons on housing. The results are summarized as follows : 1 The average achievement score of the training was high (75.9%) 2 The score varie with the viewpoints we had set. A good score was obtained on the basic rules of living such as the separation of the sleeping and dining space. On the contrary, scores on the consideration of movement and creativity were relatively low. We concluded that this space simulation study sheet could be accepted by senior high schoold students.

The purpose of this research is to clarify perspectives of teachers without the license of home economics education (LHEE) by comparing those with the LHEE. Perspectives of teachers with the LHEE were better than those of teachers without the LHEE. Additionally, the teachers with the LHEE thought that problem solving ability was more important, and they utilized resources such as homes and community which were the basis of students’ livelihood. However, teachers without the LHEE had almost no time to research materials for teaching some subjects in addition to home economics education, and they were able to take the line of least resistance such as worksheets. The quality of home economics education was influenced by difference between teachers with the LHEE and those without the LHEE. In order to ensure study opportunity, the boards of education need to prepare support system for teachers without of the LHEE, and reform teachers’ license system immediately.

On the use of the measuring spoon in cooking, we examined the measurement of salt in Report 1. Weights of sugar and soy sauce were measured with measuring spoons in regard to the following points, for this report. Sugar : the kinds and the states of sugar, and by the ways of measurment. Soy sauce : the kinds of soy sauce, and by comparison of the measured amount of a spoonful, half and one third of a spoon. The results are as follows. 1) The measured amount of sugar differed in the kind and the state of the sugar. 2) The measured amound of the sugar differed in free measurement. After guidance and training of exact measurement, the measured amount and standard deviation was much near the free measurement. 3) The measured amount of soy sauce was much the same weight for all kinds. 4) In the way of free measurement, the measured amount of half and one third of a spoon was smaller than that of the measured amount of a spoon. After guidance and training of exact measurement, the measured amount and standard deviation was much near that of the free measurement.

The purpose of this study was to know how the new coeducational homemaking education in senior high schools, started in 1994, related to students' life and views especially on gender equity. 1490 questionnaires were analyzed. 1. Girls had more equal views on gender issues than boys. 2. Both sexes had equal views on the opportunities of work and wages; however, on gender roles they had relatively conservative views. 3. Both sexes tended to think the skills for independent living, housekeeping and child bearing were required for females, while the ability for earning money and helping other people were required for males. 4. Boys who had learned coeducational homemaking education and had practiced well on housekeeping had more equal views on gender issues.

We investigated how people who nurse children think about the existing state of the formation of basic habits on infants. As people who nurse children, we chose three different groups : mothers, nursery attendants and kindergarteners, and students of nursing school. The results were as follows : 1. They thought that training at nursery school or kindergarten was proper, and that home training was indulgent. 2. Half of them admitted that they trained their children properly at present. 3. Few of them denied corporal punishment, but at the same time, many of them kept rational training in mind. 4. They made light of training as a member of society. The results were significantly different among the three groups.

小学校家庭科における食の安全に関する学習内容の変遷と課題を明らかにするため,小学校家庭科教科書の記述を分析した。結果は次の通りである。(1)学習指導要領で調理実習題材に指定することによって,調理技能を身に付けるだけではなく,その食品の選び方や扱い方についても同時に学んできた。(2)教科書における野菜の洗い方に関する記述は,野菜の栽培方法,野菜の食べ方,中性洗剤の安全性に対する評価などの変化に応じて書き換えられてきた。(3)小学校家庭科教科書における食の安全に関する記述は,それぞれの時代における問題や課題に応じて,また,新しい科学的知見を取り入れながら,書き換えられてきた。(4)食品の安全な選び方や扱い方を学ぶためには,食の安全に関する内容を調理の目的として,あるいは食の文化として学習指導要領に位置づけることも考えられる。

Though menu learning is important, many classes in schools have problems. This study researched the changes that have taken place in description of the menu in the course of study, teachers manuals and text books for elementary schools, junior high schools and senior high schools since the end of World War II. Their objectives of learning contents were investigated. The results are the following: Contents and elements of menu learning have been simplified. Emphasis has been focused on food groups and the nutritional value of foods. If you try to teach just the nutritional value of food. There will be a problem that you cannot follow other kinds of elements of food life. Also, the contents of their elements are explained ambiguously, not described theoritically.

In this study the significance and situation of 13 Textbook and Curriculum Libraries in Japan, which were opened in 1947 with many U.S.gift textbooks and reference books for teachers, was cleared from a position of home economics education.The main method of research was to use the documentary records of Japan which were in possession of the libraries of Kagawa University and Hiroshima University and the records of U.S.A., partly as an investigation of the actually perused U.S.home economics education books.The purpose of this first report was to grasp the outline of the library and the design and background of its establishment.The results were as follows: 1.In the summer of 1947, American Education Libraries which were located in 13 educational institutions throughout Japan were poened with 337 U.S.gift books.Later, their names were changed to Textbook and Curriculum Libraries and were increased further with Japanese books. 2.The American Education Library was brought to Ministry of Education from the U.S.War Department as a part of the educational policy for Occupied Areas.The design of the library was to expedite the step of revamping textual materials which was the main part toward a democratic education. 3.The War Department Textbook Committee selected the gift textbooks based on a standard criteria.In those books, five kinds of homemaking textbooks for high schools were included and four of them were sent to Japan.

The objective of this study was to clarify the process on the controversy concerning abolishment of Homemaking in elementary schools in early postwar period, Japan. GHQ/SCAP recordswere analyzed and it was found that Ambrose, E. V. , the elementary Educationists working at Education Division of CIE was the person who suggested the reform on Homemaking Education in elementary schools. One of the problems in regard to abolishment was the treatment of Homemaking teachers. Ambrose recognized that Homemaking teachers were afraid that they may be dismissed if Homemaking Education was abolished.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between high school students' study experiences and their recognition of senior citizens' roles. The results were as follows: High school students' recognition of the senior citizens' roles was analyzed using factor analysis. Four factors were extracted including "Life perspective role," "Emotional help role," "Discipline and socialization role," and "Cultural legend role". There was a significant difference between students who studied senior citizens' roles and those who did not. The study experience in which the students had direct contacts with senior citizens showed the highest scores of directly get in touch. Factors that increased the score concerning students' recognition of senior citizens' roles were "Exchange experience between Senior citizens in community and students," "Exchange experience between senior citizens in nursing home and students" and "Interviewing senior citizens." The exchange program in home economics education was effective to improve students' understanding about senior citizens.

Home economics schoolbooks and supplementary textbooks for Finnish comprehensive schools were investigated. The findings were follows: 1. Three kinds of schoolbooks and 12 kinds of supplementary textbooks for home economics are published from 3 companies in Finland. 2. The home economics teacher decides whether or not to adopt these books. The schoolbooks and the supplementary textbooks that they adopt are distributed to all students for free of charge. 3. The schoolbooks were composed of contents about family relationships, food, washing and cleaning, consumer education, and environmental education. 4. The pages with content about food are 68〜74%. Especially, the recipes for many kinds of dishes, such as bread, and cake are included in these schoolbooks. 5. The contents of the schoolbooks are concrete and practical. 6. Most of the supplementary textbooks are about food. 7. The schoolbooks and supplementary textbooks of home economics for Finnish Comprehensive schools correspond to the purpose of Finnish basic education and also to the framework curriculum for the comprehensive schools in 1994.

小中高の家庭科担当教師に調理実習の学習目標について質問紙調査をした結果,以下の点が明らかになった。1.実習の学習目標を「基本的な調理法や調理器具の扱いができる」や「安全衛生に気をつけて調理する」などにおく教師が多く,技能技術の習得を中心において調理実習観が根強いと考えられる。しかし,授業時間や子どもの生活体験の低下等の制約の中で,技能技術の習得達成を期待していない教師も多く、また技能技術の習得を確実にするための工夫は積極的におこなわれているとは言いがたかった。2.調理実習の学習目標には,社会的認識の目標設定が少なく,食生活教育の総合の場ととらえる視点は弱かった。3.調理実習を「楽しければよい」とする考えが一部に強くみられた。調理実習の楽しさを友達との共同的な学びとすることや技能技術の上達ととらえる回答は少なかった。4.食生活状況や子どもの問題状況の把握が学習目標にいかされているとはいえない結果だった。

The purpose and method of this study have been outlined in part 1. In this study, high school students' consciousness of family and child rearing after the introduction of coeducational home economics is compared with the consciousness of students before the introduction of coeducational home economics. In this second part, high school students' views toward sex roles and participation in household work are analyzed. The major findings of this part are as follows. Male students who studied home economics had views toward sex roles less influenced by gender. Furthermore, they do not appear to be tied down to consciousness of the "Ie" institution. 2. Female students who studied home economics in a coeducational class room had views toward sex roles less influenced by gender. And they too do not appear to be tied down to consciousness of the"Ie" institution. 3. Male students who studied home economics participated in household work actively than male students who did not study home economics.

The aim, the contents and the curriculum of home economics education for Finnish comprehensive schools were investigated. The findings were as follows: 1. All girls and boys in the 7th grade (aged around 13) get three hours per week of home economics for one year. Furthermore, students in grades 8-9th can choose home economics as an elective. 2. The purpose of teaching home economics is to develop preparedness in the student that will help him to get along in everyday life. 3. The main contents of home economics are the education about nutrition, food culture, prudent consumers, home and the environment.

The purpose of the investigation is to explain the influence of meals with adults on elementary students' food consciousness, the food attitudes and the food knowledge. It was carried out with elementary school students in the fifth and the sixth grades, and answers were obtained from 667 elementary students. The results of the investigation were as follows. The rate of eating both staple foods and the side dishes is higher in meals with adults. The elementary school students who had meals with adults had many conversations, felt the meals were pleasant, were very satisfied, looked forward to them, were careful of their health, and helped preparing for the meal. Their food knowledge was also high. Most of the elementary school students that had meals alone complained about the defects of the physical condition. It became clear that meals with adults influenced elementary school students' food consciousness, food attitudes and the food knowledge. It was important that there was an adult at the time of the meals, and that food education in the family was important for elementary school fifth and sixth grade students.
