粉体の力学的性質についての研究はクーロン, ランキンの古典土圧論より発達して来, また一方金属の塑性理論を用いても若干の試があるが, 一貫する法則を発見し, 普通的な粉体力学を建設するには至っていない.これは粉体の性質が弾性体のごとく単純ではなく, また, 試験方法も困難なためである.凝集力の小なる粉体はそれ自体では成形しないから, 必ずある容器中に入れて材料試験を行わねばならない.また, 粉体は一度応力を生ぜしめると一般にその等方性, 等質性を失なう.さらに, 応力はこれを生ぜしめた荷重の荷重時間により変化する.そのほか, 種々複雑な因子がはいって来るので, 粉体の性質を究め, 一般的法則を樹立することは極めて困難と言わねばならない.われわれの研究はその第1歩であって, 容器中に一様に詰めた粉体が次第にその内部応心を増大する場合の応力とひずみの関係を求めるためにまず, 主応力と主ひずみとの関係を応力中に引張応力をふくまないで主応力と主ひずみの方向が一致する場合について求めた.実験に用いた粉体は電解銅粉およびアルミニウムの搗碎粉であり, いずれも不定形の微粉で実験前には全体として等質等方と考えてさしつかえないものである.この両者を円筒状容器中に詰め, 圧縮試験および, せん断試験を行った所本文中に示すがごとき結果を得た.これにランキンの土圧論における共約応力の関係を導入し, 主応力と主ひずみの関係式を導いたのである.

車輪踏面形状は円弧と直線とを組合わせて設計されることが多いが,このような踏面形状に欠点が少なくない.歯車のインボリュート曲線のようになんらかの理論的な根拠をもった曲線を使って踏面形状を構成することにより,これらの欠点を是正することを試みた.トレッド部には輪軸が左右に移動してもHertz圧が変化しない曲線を,フランジ部には輪軸がヨ-イングしても2点接触をおこさない曲線を使用することを提案した.

本報は車輪踏面とレール頭面の設計に関するものである.現在の形状には複点接触,フランジ衝撃などに問題があると思われる.著者は車輪とレールの接触点位置と輪軸の横変位あるいは上下変位,ローリング角などの関数関係を任意に設定して,(1)車輪踏面形状とレール頭面形状を,(2)既定のレールに対して,車輪踏面形状を,積分(解)曲線で求める公式を導出した.特に後者に関しては数種の算出例を示し,走行性を検討した.

二衝程機關の掃除孔に於ける給気の流出は、近似的に二次元的流動と考へられる。而してその流出方向は給気誘導縁の形状と掃除孔の開度に關するものである。本文は掃除孔の特殊形状に對し二次元ポテンシャル流として計算した開度と流出方向の關係と實際用ひられてゐる各種形状の掃除孔及びデフレクターに對し模型と気流活動寫眞を用ひて實驗的に開度と流出方向の關係を吟味した結果を報告するものである。

Dry-out and rewetting on fuel rods in a reactor core, possibly observed during the events of pump trip or reactor power increase etc., are significant phenomena from the viewpoints of securing the integrity of a fuel rod and safety evaluation on MCPR in the design. The two-phase flow boiling visualization experiments of dry-out and rewetting processes by a high-speed digital movie were successfully carried out under BWR rated-operating condition of ∿7MPa and ∿286℃ in the present work; on the other hand, these visualization tests could be found only under the atmospheric pressure conditions so far. The tests were carried out using the thermal-hydraulic experimental loop of Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TEPCO), which enables us to directly observe the two-phase flow boiling, dry-out and rewetting phenomena under the BWR rated-operating conditions of ∿7MPa and ∿286℃. The observations by a high-speed digital movie, measurements of void fraction increase by optical-fiber void probes and rods' surface temperature soaring and steep diving by thermocouples brought us incontrovertible evidences of the occurrence of rewetting just after dry-out in transients.

It is hard to use the drill by bare-handed. We want to develop machine that the vibration or impact was suppressed. A woodpecker is enumerated as for repeatedly an impact. A woodpecker strikes its beak toward a tree repeatedly. But, the damage of the brain or the living body doesn't occur by this action. Therefore, it is predicted that the brain and body of woodpecker is protected from the shock by some methods. And it turns out that the woodpecker has the original mechanism that endures impact. In this study, from the structure of woodpecker (especially hyoid bone) makes a model. And the model is analyzed. It thinks about the endures impact from the result.

Less spinning soccer ball aerodynamics are studied by wind tunnel experiments. Aerodynamic force of unsteady lift and side ones acting on the ball at rest are measured and estimated flight trajectory. Well agreements of flight shift magnitude in lateral direction between observed and calculated ones are obtained. As a result, the cause of this strange behavior of the soccer ball is clarified by self-excited buffeting phenomenon of purely irregular behavior of horseshoe-shaped vortex and longitudinal twin one, which already discovered with supper critical Re number region of smooth sphere by S. Taneda(1976).

Although three-dimensional finite element analysis has become a common tool in the industries to perform their design analyses, there still exist some difficulties in performing three-dimensional fracture analyses. One of them is that although automatic mesh generation techniques are available for tetrahedral finite elements, hexahedral finite elements are commonly used in three-dimensional crack analyses. The other is that the analysis models tend to be large in their scales. Therefore performing a three-dimensional fracture analysis takes much manual labor in the analysis model generation processes and computational time. In present research, the authors have been developing a fracture mechanics analysis system that minimizes the manual labor. The key components in the analysis system are a mesh generation software and the virtual crack closure-integral method (VCCM) for the second-order tetrahedral finite element to evaluate the crack parameters (the energy release rates and the stress intensity factors). Based on them, the software system was carefully designed to handle large scale analysis model. In this paper, as the first report, the outlines of the system and the finite element model procedures are described.

Finite element simulation was carried out for inhomogeneous elastic-plastic fracture specimens, which consist of A533B steel and HT80 steel. These two materials have considerably different yield stresses, although their elastic properties are exactly the same. The nonlinear fracture parameter, T^* integral, was extended for inhomogeneous multilayer materials. The T^* integral for inhomogeneous materials demonstrates excellent path independence, even in the stages of large plastic deformations around the crack tip and the material interface. Numerically generated moire fringe patterns are in good agreement with experimentally recorded patterns. The shapes of plastic zones appearing in the specimens reveal large inhomogeneity effects.

In order to investigate inhomogeneity effects in elastic-plastic fracture, A533B steel and HT80 steel, which have considerably different yield stresses, were chosen. The moire interferometry was used for direct measurements of the crack-tip behavior in the homogeneous CT specimens of A533B and HT80, and in electron-beam-welded inhomogeneous CT specimens of these two materials. Two-dimensional moire gratings with relatively low frequency of 300 lines/mm were used to follow large plastic deformations. The near-tip deformations were compared with the corresponding HRR singular fields. Large inhomogeneity effects were observed in the moire fringe patterns as plastic deformations proceed.

A two-layer plasma sprayed thermal barrier coating on Ni base superalloy substrate was characterized. The coating was comprised of an inner layer of MCrAlY bond coating and an outer layer of 8wt% yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) thermal barrier coating (TBC). After aging, the reaction layer at interface between YSZ and MCrAlY was observed. The reaction layer had two different contrast layers in the SEM images. One was black which was closer to MCrAlY and the other was gray which was closer to YSZ. The thickness of both layers increased with aging. Also countless porosities at the gray layer and microcrack at YSZ were observed. Most of the macrocrack grew through the porosities. From this viewpoint one may say that the mechanism of macrocrack formation is a deterioration of adhesion which was accompanied by an increase of the porosities or the microcrack.

Heat transfer processes during a dry sauna (room temperature 70℃, relative humidity 10%) and mist sauna (room temperature 40℃, relative humidity 100%) were examined using a human thermal system. The results suggest the following: (1) During the dry sauna, the primary heat input to the body is convective and radiant heat gain, and the primary heat output from the body is evaporative loss. (2) During the mist sauna, the primary heat input to the body is condensate heat transfer, and there is no heat output from the body, which enables core temperature to increase like that during the dry sauna. (3) Skin moisture increase after mist bathing may be attained by heating and moisturing skin through condensation.

This paper suggests a method for measuring current velocity of gases on new principle which uses ion. First of all, the current of fluid under test is ionized by corona discharge made by a transformer, then it is led into two absorbers, which are put keeping some distance each other, but have some pulsating electric field. Passing through their two absorbers, the fluid arrives at an ion receiver, which catches ions escaped from them. If we change the distance between their absorbers, the quantity of ion catched by the receiver changes periodically. Measuring the change of the distance between their two absorbers for one period, we can know the fluid velocity by the following relation. w=λf where w : current velocity of gases λ : the change of the distance between their two absorbers in one period f : frequency of the pulsating electric field

It is important jobs to change diapers for a bedridden patient. Changing diapers hurts prides of the patient, so that a panty toilet, that can be worn to the patient, is of importance, in which feces and urine are washed automatically. In this study, a new-type automatic washing panty toilet system is presented. The system consists of a rubber made panty toilet with tubes at both thighs and a torso, and the control system. In the panty toilet, air expands the tubes, and water leakage is prevented when washing water being inserted in the toilet. Warm air dries in the panty toilet after washing. The control system is constructed, which washes in the toilet automatically. Experimental tests have been performed. It is ascertained that the proposed system is applicable, in principle, for practical use.
