For interface-tracking simulation of incompressible two-phase fluids with high density ratios, a new numerical method was proposed by combining Navier-Stokes equations with a phase-field model based on a van der Waals-Cahn-Hilliard free-energy theory. The method was applied to several benchmark problems. Major findings are as follows: (1) The volume flux derived from a local chemical potential gradient in the Cahn-Hilliard equation leads to accurate volume conservation, autonomic reconstruction of gas-liquid interface, and reduction of numerical diffusion and oscillation. (2) The proposed method gave good predictions of pressure increase inside a bubble caused by the surface tension force. (3) A single liquid drop falling in stagnant gas and merging into a stagnant liquid film was successfully simulated.

This paper describes a mechanical energy recovery system with flywheel and CVT. In recent years, greenhouse effect is brought to international attention, which is closely related to cars. Improvement of the car which discharges greenhouse gas is desired. And so, in order to achieve hybrid vehicle we studied energy recovery system, which used the flywheel and CVT. We studied the effectiveness of energy recovery experiment using a real vehicle, but it's energy efficiency was smaller than assumed one. In this study, in order to achieve the efficiency improvement, we clear up the cause of low efficiency. Especially to examination Flywheel Energy Recovery System only, we built the testing system. By the experiment we revealed the characteristic of system and the problem of CVT.

This paper proposes a estimation method of dynamic forces between 4 wheels and road using strain information of steering nuckle. First, we propose a vehicle-tyre model. It contains nonlinear caracteristics of tyre by Magic Formula function. In addition, we design multi-body dynamics suspension model. And we conduct the coupled simulation to obtain the boundary condition of steering nuckle. Then, in order to decide the optimum positions of strain sensors to estimate the forces, FEM simulations are conducted.

ヒューマノイド, CG中のキャラクタなどのヒューマンフィギュアは, 人間とインタラクションを持ちながら動作を生成していくことが求められる。しかし, 従来の研究はオフラインの運動生成が中心であった。本論文では, ヒューマンフィギュアの運動生成のために筆者らが提案している力学フィルタを応用し, インタラクティブに外力などを加えながら多様な動作を生成する方法について述べる。

本稿では, 異なる種類のセンサ情報を用いた知覚システムと行為システムの制御方法を提案する。マルチモーグルなセンサとして超音波センサ, レーザセンサ, ccdカメラを用い, 移動ロボットは, センサ間の刺激・抑制の構造を持つセンサリネットワークを従い, 直面する環境に適したセンサー情報を用いて行動制御する。最後に, 簡単な実験を通して有効性に関する議論を行うとともに, 学習方法について議論する。

A precise and stiffly stable time integration method with numerical dissipation is presented for solving MCK type equations of motion. Its algorithm is assumed that acceleration during time step is expressed as a quadratic function. Stability and accuracy are investigated by numerical analysis to find out the best parameter values of the algorithm. Characteristics of this method are compared with other methods such as Newmark, Wilson, HHT-α method, etc, which showed that this method has much better accuracy for low frequency modes, and strong dissipation for high frequency modes. Some calculation examples are shown.

Haigh式繰返應力試驗機の作動方法を理論的に取扱ひその結果が實驗と定性的に一致する事を示しこの試驗機を理想に近く動かすには電動子と電磁石との距離を可及的大きくしなければならぬことを示す。次にこの試驗機に用ひる試驗片の屈曲強さを求め片振圧縮耐久試驗に於ける試驗片の屈曲は通常の屈曲と異る事を推論した。

Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is one of the multipoint search methods to find global or quasi-optimum of non-convex function. The important characteristics of multipoint search methods are diversity and centralization of search points. In this paper we propose Improvement model to aim at the diversity and the centralization. Through numerical examples, it is examined that indicator of parameter decision, diversity, centralization, and the search ability of the Improved PSO.

Conventional FEM requires that the boundary of the element just matches the crack line to perform stress analyses of structures containing cracks in the field of fracture mechanics. These modeling processes are rather complicated and cannot be performed easily even if the automatic mesh generation technique is utilized. Recently, Belytschko et al. proposed the extended finite element method (X-FEM) based on the concept of partition of unity, and applied this method to the evaluation of the stress intensity factors and perfoming the crack extension simulation. The X-FEM can be used to simplify the modeling of continua containing several cracks and hence perform effective stress analyses related to fracture mechanics. This paper describes the two-dimensional thermal stress analysis of structures containing cracks. Stress intensity factors having mixed modes coupled with mode-I and mode-II are evaluated by M_1-integral method in conjunction with X-FEM. This method is examined in numerical examples of elastic and thermo elastic analyses. The numerical results show that X-FEM is an effective method for performing thermal stress analyses and evaluating stress intensity factors.

The extended finite element method (X-FEM), which can model the domain without explicitly meshing the crack surface, can be used to perform stress analyses for efficiently solving fracture mechanics problems. In this study, the constraint condition enforcement for X FEM analysis considering symmetry is presented. Since the interpolation functions utilized in X FEM analysis include the enrichment basis functions, the freedoms of the node on the symmetric plane should be constrained properly in X-FEM model with symmetric conditions. Moreover evaluation of the energy release rate by the domain integral method should be performed considering symmetry conditions. In this paper the constraint conditions for three dimensional X FEM analysis considering symmetric conditions are summarized and the numerical examples using symmetric X FEM models are shown. The proposed procedure can be used to perform efficient X FEM analyses of practical fracture problems.

ヒューマノイドなど多自由度の複雑なリンク機構の動力学シミュレーションには非常に長い時間がかかる。一方制御や運動生成では, リアルタイム性・インタラクティブ性が求められることが多い。本論文では, MPIを用いたネットワーク分散計算環境を構築し, 既に提案したヒューマンフィギュアの動力学計算法を並列化したアルゴリズムによる動力学シミュレーションの高速化をめざす。

The theoretical solution of a concentrated force on the free surface of a coating material is deduced by introducing the infinite series mirror points of the load point and applying the Dirichlet's uniqueness theorem. In this study, the two dimensional solution is deduced in details by using the infinite series of the Goursat's stress function corresponding to every mirror point. It is found that the stress function corresponding to a higher order mirror point can be determined from that corresponding to a lower one, therefore, all the stress functions can be determined from that corresponding to the first order mirror point which is in fact the stress function for concentrated forces on the free surface of a semi-infinite body. It is also found that the contribution of the stress function to stress distribution decreases as the increasing of the corresponding order of the mirror point. It is confirmed that only the stress functions corresponding to the first several mirror points have an influence on the accuracy of theoretical solution. This theoretical solution can be expected to be very useful in evaluating the strength of coating materials or other surface modificated materials.

The analogies existing between the mathematical formulations of the bending of elastic plates and two dimensional stress problem has been well known, and so it is quite natural that we can apply the analytical methods which have been used in the latter to the former. In this paper the complementary function of the fundamental equation of the bending of isotropic plates is represented by means of the so-called Goursat's stress function. By the use of derived formulae and relations, several fundamental solutions are obtained. As examples, bending of a clamped circular plate under a concentrated load, bending of a simply supported circular plate under a concentrated load, bending of a circular plate under several concentrated loads on the boundary and bending of an infinite plate with an elliptic hole are treated.

This paper describes the accuracy of surface integrals in the indirect boundary integral method containing singular integrals. Here, the surface integral is carried out directly and numerically by the use of Simpson's and Legendre-Gauss's quadrature formulae. Also, the line integral, obtained by applying Gauss-Ostrogradskii's transformation to the surface integral, is examined. The accuracy is evaluated by the convergence behaviors of surface and line integrals and by the comparison with the analytically obtained integral values.

For a hydroelectric power station utilizing the osmotic pressure generated between pure water and sea water, a performance prediction method was proposed in considering the concentration polarization on the flow parallel to the membrane surface. The analysis was one-dimensional and was based on equations of concentration polarization, water permeate flux, salt permeate flux, mass conservations both of water and salt, and energy conservation. From prescribed equations, the salt concentrations at the flow core and in the neighborhood of membrane surface, permeate flux, core flow velocity and also core pressure were numerically analyzed. From the analysis, the hydroelectric power performance was calculated and compared with one in case of non-concentration polarization. The result showed that the polarization lowered the performance. Based on the present analysis, the ability of electric power extracted from main rivers in Japan was estimated. It showed that the total electric power equal to the several nuclear power stations of 1 000 MW class was possible.
