&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Although previous researches have suggested that Team Identification (Team ID) and Place Attachment are positively correlated, the causal relationship between them has not been clarified sufficiently.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In this research we attempted to verify the hypothesis that &ldquo;inhabitants who have raised the Team ID will raise Place Attachment, compared to the inhabitants who have not raised it.&rdquo; The investigation method was a longitudinal survey focused on inhabitants of Imabari City, designed to assess the change in the Team ID and Place Attachment.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The results of the two-way ANOVA showed that there was a significant difference between the Place Attachment of inhabitants who had raised the Team ID and those who had not. Place Attachment of the former increased, and thus the hypothesis was supported.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The causal relationship between Team ID and Place Attachment been clarified by this research, however, the existence and the influence of other parameters have not been clarified. In order to clarify the mechanism between Team ID and Place Attachment, accumulation of expert knowledge will be required.

The purpose of this article was to introduce the case of the Aspen Institute Project Play and to consider a few current topics in Japanese youth sports. In 2013 this project was launched by the Aspen Institute Sports and Society Program in the U.S. Subsequently, it has produced multiple reports regarding issues surrounding youth sports in the U.S and has held annual summits to address these issues (2016, 2017). Additionally, it has succeeded in obtaining various stakeholders’ support (e.g. MLB, NBA, NBC Sports Network and NIKE) through implementation of its nationwide projects. The primary issues around childhood play/movement that Project Play has highlighted are the impact of childhood obesity and inactive lifestyles. To address these concerns, they developed eight strategies, including the “Sport for All, Play for Life Model”. This model aims to encourage all young people in the U.S to participate in competitive and/or recreational sports throughout their lives. In summary, the strengths of this project can be described as improving the cycle “research → strategy → evaluation” based on the above-referenced model. Furthermore, the vast network of stakeholders has enhanced the impact of its resources. Therefore, in the Japanese youth sports setting, it might be useful to consider the development of a similar model which encompasses both competitive and lifelong sports. Two key steps, as demonstrated by Project Play, are development of an effective network and utilizing the existing data related to youth sports in Japan.

This study cites “casual racism” as it is suggested in the slogan “Racism. It Stops With Me” and aims to identify the characteristics of racism on Japanese websites that deal with international sporting events. With respect to the 2014 FIFA World Cup, about 670,000 web comments related to “Yahoo! JAPAN” news on the World Cup were collected. Of the comments, 16,236 were sampled, and the 289 comments that included “race-related words” were selected, classified, and evaluated into three types, depending on whether the content was discriminatory. In the analysis, the proportion of discriminatory comments was compared to all comments, and this was compared with year-round sports comments in Japan.    The results of the analysis showed that approximately 40.1 percent of the 289 comments were discriminatory about people of a different race. There were a particularly large number of comments about Koreans. Discriminatory comments about Chinese and Croatians also appeared although Croatians are rarely discussed in Japan.    The examination of the comments revealed the following characteristics: 1) Among the comments that were analyzed, the proportion of racially discriminatory comments that were only mentioned at the World Cup was low, at 12.9 percent. This suggests that international competitions are not a direct cause of racism on the web. 2) Discriminatory comments against Croatians arose from the criticisms by the Croatian national team against the Japanese referee of a match played by their country. Therefore, these comments were transient, although this type of casual racism is likely to occur repeatedly in international competitions targeting different racial groups. 3) Racism toward Chinese and Koreans is one of Japan’ s social problems. However, while this racism is considered to be serious, a part of the discriminatory web comments displayed the kind of casualness that is characteristic of casual racism.

This study examines the potential importance of what we call "local community strategy" in the realm of management for professional sports clubs. In particular, we focus on J League (soccer) clubs since the year 2000. Activities corresponding to the "local community strategy " are supposed to consist of the following five components.(1) Providing services to a local community through sports(2) Participating in festivals and other similar events of a local community and visits to local shopping malls and other places(3) Creating a system for receiving community volunteers(4) Creating a system for obtaining goods and services form community businesses(5) Establishing rules for obtaining funds from the community This study analyzes data acquired from a questionnaire survey sent to all J League clubs belonging to division 1 (J1) and division 2 (J2), and from interviews with several key clubs. We show that the local community strategy is becoming, explicitly and/or potentially, one of the more important elements of J League club management. For the analysis, we classify J League clubs into three groups, roughly speaking, in accordance with the size of the annual sales of the club. We first show, based on our survey and interviews, the level of activities of each club targeted to a local community. We find that each of the three groups has good reasons for taking local community strategy seriously, and that the reasons, ranging from urgent needs for survival to a risk hedge to deal with uncertainty, differ depending on the group.

The aim of this research was to clarify the change in service quality of a stadium before and after the introduction of CCT using one facility in Japan as a case study, and to compare some performance data before and after the introduction of CCT. The data before CCT were collected in May 2006 and the post- CCT data were collected in November 2008. Random sampling of respondents was used in those years. In total, 758 respondents in 2006 and 292 respondents in 2008 were asked to complete the questionnaire after the football game. Some of the mean scores of “Cleanliness and comfort” , “Food and drink” , “Litter box” , “Toilet” and “Staff” were significantly higher than those of before CCT. However, the service quality of “Easy to watch” did not change between those years significantly.

The purpose of this study was to examine the structural concept of the organizational climate in college sports clubs and to develop a measurement scale that ensures reliability and validity. We conducted two studies as follows: 【Study1】: Based on previous studies, we created a scale to measure the organizational climate of college sports clubs, and conducted an exploratory examination of the factor composition of organizational climate through surveys and analyses of university students who had experience of belonging to college sports clubs. (Survey 1). Then, based on the results of the analysis, we conducted another survey and analysis targeting students who had experience of belonging to college sports clubs, and examined the validity and reliability of the structural concept of the organizational climate of the college sports clubs (Survey 2). 【Study2】: After partially modifying the measurement scale based on the results of Study 1, the validity and reliability of the scale were examined again. In addition, in order to verify the predictive validity of the scale, we analyzed the relationship between the organizational climate of the college sports clubs and the organizational commitment of the members to the clubs to which they belong. Analytical data were collected from students who had experience of belonging to a college sports club, as in Study 1 (Survey 3). The main findings are summarized as follows: We clarified 6 factors: “Warm atmosphere”, “Social contribution awareness”, “Deviation from ethics and morals”, “Control by rules”, “Fairness of penalties”, and “Acceptance of change”, as comprising the organizational climate of college sports clubs. And, as a result of the statistical analysis, the scale was confirmed to have sufficient reliability and validity.

Why do athletes choose to become second-career teachers? This qualitative research explores the factors influencing elite athletes’ choice of becoming a teacher after retirement. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ex-professional athlete teachers (7 baseball players and 7 football players) to discuss the reasons for career choice and factors influencing their decision. The data, which were recorded, transcribed and analyzed through the application of principles from Grounded Theory, resulted in 20 concepts in 9 categories. Examples of categories include achievement of a stable livelihood, desire to remain involved in their sports, and influence of significant others. Ex-professional baseball players samples “needed” to become teachers in post-retirement to lead high school club activities due to the former student baseball eligibility restoration system. Meanwhile, former J. League players tended to become teachers to secure a stable future for themselves.

The brain injury during a sports activity are caused by the percussion which involves collision to the head. To construct a protective environment for such collisions are one of the most important factors for the biomechanical problems. In this investigation, we will experiment the collision of a human head of the testee by using Judo Tatami mats within the safety limits. We propose the mathematical model which can computer simulate the experiment model which will make the reappearance of the head collision phenomenon, and also the head collision phenomenon itself by using the measurements of the impact force and the acceleration from the experiment.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease has become a global pandemic, causing various activities to be restricted in Japan. Thus, we investigated university swimmers’ perceptions of the COVID-19 restrictions and how they thought these impacted their sport, along with an exploratory identification of their psychological states. We asked 108 university swimmers (men 74 and women 34; mean age 19.82, [SD 1.17] years) to describe their psychological states during the pandemic. Data analysis involved collection of descriptions and quantitative context analysis or text mining using the KJ method with KH coder software. Following analysis, six categories emerged: “infection prevention and control,” “gratitude,” “preparing for the restart,” “uncertainly about the future,” “physical decline,” and “psychological decline.” In addition, results of the qualitative analysis confirmed the relationship between the words “swimming” and “feeling,” “feeling” and “can swim.” These results suggest that university swimmers consider their sport and themselves during periods of inactivity and that it will be useful for the sporting community to research the psychological states of university swimmers during the global pandemic.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In competitive sports, the enhancing of physical abilities, technical skills, and psychological states is vital for excelling in competition. A team&rsquo; s psychological wellbeing is often the deciding factor in team sport success. Nevertheless, few efficient strategies have been made for boosting teams&rsquo; psychological states, particularly during matches. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate practitioners&rsquo; perceptions of <I>Enjin</I> (forming a circle) strategies used to enhance a team&rsquo; s psychological acuity during matches. In addition, motivations to initiate <I>Enjin</I> strategies, content, and changes observed after implementing these strategies were emphasized. The study was conducted following three steps. First, a women&rsquo; s collegiate basketball team&rsquo; s <I>Enjin</I> strategies were observed and recorded during an official match. Second, a team coach and four players were interviewed concerning these strategies, after viewing a recording of the match. The participants were requested to provide (1) motivations to implement <I>Enjin</I> strategies; (2) <I>Enjin</I> content; and (3) changes experienced after implementing <I>Enjin</I> strategies. Third, the study results were analyzed following the KJ method. The analysis revealed seven motivations, including &ldquo;routine,&rdquo; &ldquo;desire to enhance team cohesion,&rdquo; and &ldquo;foul play.&rdquo; In addition, four types of <I>Enjin</I> content were identified, including &ldquo;encouragement,&rdquo; &ldquo;information on tactics,&rdquo; &ldquo;apologizing,&rdquo; and &ldquo;battle cries.&rdquo; Subsequently, eleven changes, including &ldquo;enhanced team cohesion&rdquo; , &ldquo;shared perspectives among team members,&rdquo; and &ldquo;improved excitement levels,&rdquo; were identified. It was inferred that <I>Enjin</I> strategies enhanced the teams&rsquo; psychological states, based on these results. However, additional studies involving several teams, games, events, and genders are required to complement these results.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The global expansion of sports has accomplished a transformation from a hegemonic spread, such as people in the colonies received from modern sports in the suzerainty of the colonial era to the diffusion of comodificated spectator sports after the World War II. The expansion of baseball after the 1990&prime;s can be regarded as a model for the construction of interdependent relations on an earth scale which is based on the existence of a professional league in Latin America and the east Asian nations under the MLB, and the expansion of the market and the network for player recruitment to the baseball barren areas such as Europe and Africa. This article discusses professional baseball in China that started in the 1990&prime;s when the globalization of professional baseball was advanced. First, a general view of the history of baseball in this country is related, based on previous work. Then it discusses whether CBL, a particular professional sports league with a certain meaning, which hasn&rsquo; t constructed its earning system get, will be able to get on the right track as a sports industry in the future and whether the Beijing Olympic Games can provide an opportunity to do so is argued according to the results obtained in 2008 by the questionnaire used at the Beijing Olympic Stadium.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;It is difficult to forecast the image of the future of CBL. Optimistic observation can be derived from the high percent of opinion that watching the Olympic baseball game is good chance of playing baseball and watching CBL games. But it is uncertain whether this result reflects the testee&prime;s continuous intention. On the other hand, pessimism is derived from the result that the interest in baseball doesn&prime;t directly connect with the popularity of a domestic league, according to the development of media.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In this article, the authors introduce an interesting and fresh marketing approach for the running market. Adidas, one of the world&rsquo; s top sports brands, conducted consumer research on 1,000 runners from all over Japan and released a previously unknown fact that 80% of Japanese general runners were sharing the same inner problems such as, &ldquo;I had lost my aim or purpose in running&rdquo; , &ldquo;I was uncertain of appropriate running techniques&rdquo; and &ldquo;I was not realizing any benefit from running.&rdquo; Adidas set this large group as their primary target consumers. Then, they used the name &ldquo;Meiso Runners&rdquo; and promoted this concept in the mass media as a highly influential communication technique.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;They executed the marketing communication activities with using &ldquo;Strategic PR&rdquo; for their service and products. They created the concept of &ldquo;Meiso Runners&rdquo; , and consequently they made a strong impact on the running market through the big media coverage and achieved a great success in their business; increasing their sales to 120% of the previous year.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;It is believed that by creating the concept of &ldquo;Meiso Runners&rdquo; and by clearly defining the concerns of this group of runners, Adidas was able to catapult running into discussions across a broad spectrum of society, and acquire awareness about which of their products and services provided ideal solutions to meet the runners&rsquo; needs.

The purpose of this study was to examine how 3 psychological problems facing Japanese runners,; &ldquo;aim in running,&rdquo; &ldquo;running techniques,&rdquo; and &ldquo;benefit from running&rdquo; influence runner&rsquo; s attitudes and actions, based on the research conducted by Adidas on 1,000 runners from all over Japan. <BR>  Logistic regression analysis revealed that the psychological problems were connected to the runner&rsquo;s attitudes and actions. The results indicated that solutions for psychological problems would increase the frequency of running and lead to continuity of running. And as for the solutions, &ldquo;development of a program designed for purpose&rdquo; was found to be a common solution for 3 psychological problems. Moreover, it was found that different solutions would be required for each runner&rsquo;s psychological problem, based on the results in which 3 psychological problems showed different trends of runner&rsquo; s feelings and actions.<BR>  It is suggested that the question of how to develop a &ldquo;program designed for purpose&rdquo; will be an upcoming challenge for the future, and it was indicated that the key to providing the purpose-designed program and incorporating other solutions would be in helping runners to access the appropriate information.

This study examines the perceptions of citizens living in Tokyo, which is hosting the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, in the immediate aftermath of the decision to postpone the event. The study is a cross-sectional online survey involving 2,011 respondents (975 males, 1,026 females, 1 other, and 9 non-respondents; mean age ± SD = 44.19 ± 14.08 years; 1 missing). The respondents were asked to choose from the following six options with regard to the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Games: (1) the Games should be held as planned and on the same schedule (implementation group), (2) the Games should be held as planned but with no spectators and with measures to prevent infection (no-spectator implementation group), (3) the Games should be held as planned and postponed (postponement group), (4) the Games should be postponed, with no spectators and with measures to prevent infection (no-spectator postponement group), (5) should be cancelled (cancel group), and (6) other. The study examined residents' perceptions of the Tokyo 2020 Games following the decision to postpone the event, and made the following conclusions: (1) more than 40% of respondents believed that the Games should be cancelled, (2) perceptions may differ slightly by gender and age, and (3) many respondents believed that the Games should be held without spectators, with other arrangements. The findings can be used as a basis for building
