Annual extreme winds due to typhoons for 40 years from 1950 are investigated at 28 weather stations in the western Japan which belong to a typhoon-prone region. The predictions for the return period of 500 years are larger about 10%, in average, than those based on usual annual maximum wind speeds owing to the randamness of typhoons. Three subsets of 20 year records from 40 years are also investigated. In most cases the last subset underestimates excessively. It may be caused by the alteration from 3-cup anemometers to propeller ones.

Damage to non-structural components in large roof buildings, failed during the Iwate-Miyagi Nairiku Earthquake in 2008 or an earthquake in the north shore of Iwate prefecture in July 24th of 2008, is reported.The northeastern region of Japan had been hit by major earthquakes frequently in recent years. Nevertheless, the similar damage had been repeated, since the failed parts had been fixed and recovered always with no essential improvements.

This paper proposes the method to estimate a structure coefficient Ds based on displacement response. First, estimation formulas of displacement response are evaluated for the bi-linear type design velocity response spectrum using the equivalent linear method. Next, the method to determine a value of Ds is proposed by using the estimated displacement response. Finally, trends of the values of Ds determined here to the initial period, energy absorption ability, and allowable deformation are investigated. They have the following tendencies. 1) Increase like a hyperbola having the upper limit along with the reduction of the period ratio TR. 2) Reduce like straight line along with the increase of equivalent viscous damping coefficient β. 3) Reduce like straight line or like the exponential function having the upper bound along with the increase of allowable ductility factor μ.

The high-rise and high-density condominium reconstructions initiated by developer had lots of bad influences to urban environment in Korea. Recently, to restrict the high-rise and high-density condominium reconstructions, legal regulations are being strengthened. As a result, condominium reconstruction is facing the decreasing of feasibility and the difficulties of developer' s positive participation. Therefore, there will be needed the owners-initiated reconstruction activities. As a first phase of whole study, in this paper, we aimed to clarify the process of consensus building on the owners-initiated condominium reconstruction by case study. The main conclusions are as follows." l) The owners-initiated reconstruction was realized by the efforts to solution the oppositional views among the parties concerned. 2) The promote organization with high decision making ability showed strong readership to the other parties concerned. 3) The relationship of mutual trust between promote organization and the other owners was established. 4) The partnership between promote organization and professionals or developer was established.

The product of parameters in the Gumbel distribution, which is frequently applied to annual largest wind speeds, is employed to analyze the wind climate of the Japanese Isles. Three annual largest values caused by typhoons, winter to spring storms and their mixed events are investigated at 40 weather stations. The products obtained from winter to spring storm winds correspond to the values over well behaved wind climate countries such as the British Isles. The trend of typhoon activity is depicted on a probability paper by the probability distributions of typhoon winds and winter to spring storms. The combined use of probability distributions evaluated for typhoon winds and non-typhoon winds is recommended to set up design wind speeds in Japan.

This paper aims to understand the human behavior semiosis through protocol analysis, in order to consider a spatial design from human behavior. The study is organized as follows; 1) Face to face interviews with those who stay at the park in Seika University, 2) Analysis of interview protocol based on C.S.Peirce's concepts of semiosis and extractions of variables about staying positions of interviewees, 3) Analysis of the relationship between interviewees' words and their staying position through logistic regression analysis, 4) Spatial and behavioral modeling and simulations with Cellular Automaton based on the semiotic analysis of step 2.

This study aims to explore a primary contractor's role in conservation of textile mill as a lead for business model of using industrial heritage in Japan. In this research eight case studies were chosen from Osaka and Hyogo prefecture, as it had one of the biggest textile manufacturing areas in Japan. Results are as follows; 1) Regarding a conservation of industrial heritage, it is most important for primary contractor to judge the building's value and to have a strong leadership and decision making. The aim of the projects is not only to preserve the industrial heritage but also to perform the regional arrangement. 2) A success factor for projects of industrial heritage preservation suggests that many relevant facilities should be located around it. 3) Conservation of textile mill project requires long period and consultation, to settle on a development plan and to assemble project grant.

The regions of West and Northwest off Hokkaido are situated on the boundary of two major plates of Okhotsk and Eurasian, and an occurrence of repeating earthquake is expected. The author had revealed details of damages due to the Off-Kamuimisaki Earthquaken of 1940 which was the largest one occurred in these regions. Continuing to the previous paper, literature surveys were carried out through documents and newspaper articles to the damaging earthquakes in these regions. damages due to other earthquakes were listed and discussed.

In this paper, we focus the traditional timber buildings in Kyoto inner city area, and analyze the change and the present condition of their maintenance and renovation system based on the connection with carpenters and craftsmen because of the proper renovation. According to statics and the results of builders' seats researches, we mention the transition of carpenters and craftsmen in Kyoto and its central area, and the change of the building maintenance and renovation by residents and businessmen, and the relationship between building user and professional based on the investigation results. Finally we make clear that the maintenance and renovation system decline as the result of the interruption between residents and carpenters, which is owned to the possession of rental houses, the reduction of owner's economic power, and decreasing, aging and movement from inner city of carpenters and craftsmen.

The purpose of this study is to show the useful guidelines which enable us to apply to renovation work of Kyo- Machiyas, by investigating the actual spatial characteristics on some examples of divided use of Machiyas in the central area of Kyoto City. This study ascertained as follows: 1) On the occasion of divided use, it is important to consider arrangement form of divided space which is suitable to existing situation and types of use. 2) Divided use can sufficiently satisfy the present demands of users while their traditional space structures have been maintained, and it can be regarded as effective measures for renovation of traditional Kyo-Machiyas.

2004年末に発生したスマトラ島沖の地震及び津波により、インドネシアのアチェでは、約22万人が死亡・行方不明、住宅約27万戸が全半壊という甚大な被害を受けた。現在、住宅再建を中心に復興の努力が続けられているが、アチェ復興庁(BRR)による復興プロジェクトの調整は必ずしも順調ではなく、また大量の建設需要に伴う材料不足・労働力不足等により、再建住宅の質の低下も懸念される。地震国であるインドネシアにおいて、耐震性のある住宅を建設し、地震に強い地域社会をつくるまたとない機会でもある。このため、政策研究大学院大学及び独立行政法人建築研究所の共同調査研究として、インドネシアのバンドン工科大学の協力により、住宅(RCフレームのレンガ造が主流)を中心とする建築物の再建の実態を明らかにするため、現地調査、材料試験、構造安全性の評価、ワークショップの開催等を行った。この結果は、以下のようなものである。1.被害地域のニーズを的確に把握しないまま各種の復興プロジェクトが実施されている。また、インフラの配慮がない住宅建設プロジェクトもある。この結果、完成しても入居者がいないといったことが見受けられる。2.援助機関の指示により材料や部品を輸入している場合、将来の維持管理に問題が残る。3.骨材の粒度分布、水セメント比等が不適切なため、コンクリートやモルタルの強度が十分ではない。鉄筋についても、建築基準を満たしていない場合が多い。煉瓦の質も不十分で、水で溶けた煉瓦も見受けられた。このため構造安全性に問題があり、将来の地震時の甚大な被害が懸念される。4.十分な知識と技能を持たない建築労働者により、住宅の質が低下している。5.工事監理も適切に行われていない。災害復興のため、通常であれば必要な建築許可も不要である。6.構造解析のケーススタディ(弾性範囲のモーダル・アナリシス)によれば、適切な設計、材料、施工により、アチェの厳しい条件下であっても、インドネシアの基準類に適合した構造は実現可能である。今後、復興住宅の建設に関して、住民の意識向上、関係主体間の連携の強化、建築技術の普及、建築基準の遵守などに早急に取り組む必要がある。

In architectural planning, room space areas are mainly decided according to physical spaces such as human body sizes, occupant crowd densities, and the sizes of furnitures necessary for the room. However, human beings are also psychological entities and naturally require psychological spaces1), 2) as well. In former papers8) 12), we proposed a planning method of capacity and sizes of room under consideration to keep personal occupied areas. In this paper, we report the experimentally grasped distribution of allotted personal areas of occupant crowd to be used in the method, and the result of examination that the distribution can be approximated as Poisson distribution.

本研究では太陽光発電、風力発電、屋上緑化を対象とし、北陸に立地するビルにこれらの自然エネルギー活用手法を採用した場合の一次エネルギー削減効果及び投資回収年数を評価している。研究の結果、モデルビルに対し三者のうち太陽光発電を屋上、壁面に設置することで一次エネルギー削減量は213.2[GJ/年]、投資回収年数は19.1年と推定された。また、売電価格40[円/kWh]を想定すると投資回収年数は11.2年に減少することが明らかになった。

In order to reproduce both transient dynamics and space distribution of an urban population only derived from a simple self-organism principle, a multi-agent simulation model is established. A resident agent tries to move to a cell so as to maximize his own utility that is defined by both effects of distance from the urban central and population density. The so-called "doughnut phenomenon" as well as growing Densely Inhabited District (DID) can be emulated qualitatively, even though the model bases on a simple self-organism rule.
