A wide variety of experiments have been conducted to synthesize bioorganic compounds such as amino acids since Miller's historical discharge experiments in 1953. Amino acids were easily obtained from strongly reducing gas mixtures. Even if the primitive Earth atmosphere was less reducing, amino acid precursors could be formed by using high-energy radiations. Extraterrestrial organics were another plausible sources of amino acids, and were contained possible seeds of homochirality of bioorganic molecules. There have been controversies concerning the first catalytic molecules in primordial soup. Some of the hypotheses are reviewed, including the RNA world, the Fe-S world and the garbage-bag world.

血液型性格関連説を信じている程度が,対人認知過程において選択的確証情報の使用と確証的判断に異なった影響を及ぼす事を検討した。2つの実験において実験参加者は,刺激人物の記述を与えられ,その人物が仮定された血液型かどうか判断を求められた。両実験において,血液型性格関連説を信じる程度に関わらず,実験参加者は確証的情報をその他の情報に比べてより重要であると評定していた。一方,刺激人物の血液型の判断においては,血液型性格関連説を信じる程度により違いが見られた。血液型性格関連説を強く信じる者はそうでない者に比べ,より確証的な判断をする傾向が見られた。これらの結果は,血液型性格関連説を信じる程度が対人認知の過程の中の異なった段階で異なった形で働くという予測を支持するものであった。実験2では,血液型性格関連説についての知識が選択的確証情報の使用にどう影響するかをも検討した。

The gene encoding alkaline phosphatase from the psychrotrophic bacterium Shewanella sp. SIB1 was cloned, sequenced, and overexpressed in Escherichia coli. The recombinant protein was purified and its enzymatic properties were compared with those of E. coli alkaline phosphatase (APase), which shows an amino acid sequence identity of 37%. The optimum temperature of SIB1 APase was 50 °C, lower than that of E. coli APase by 30 °C. The specific activity of SIB1 APase at 50 °C was 3.1 fold higher than that of E. coli APase at 80 °C. SIB1 APase lost activity with a half-life of 3.9 min at 70 °C, whereas E. coli APase lost activity with a half-life of >6 h even at 80 °C. Thus SIB1 APase is well adapted to low temperatures. Comparison of the amino acid sequences of SIB1 and E. coli APases suggests that decreases in electrostatic interactions and number of disulfide bonds are responsible for the cold-adaptation of SIB1 APase.

This paper proposes a method for creating the viewers' side annotations that reflect viewers' attentions on TV dramas. Internet bulletin boards are filled with large amount of viewers' dialogues concerning TV programs. Our approach is to extract the viewers' attention embedded in these dialogues and express them in the form of the graphical structures called attention graphs. The attention graphs act as viewers' side annotations. Viewers' side annotations assist in providing viewers with hints to locate their favorite scenes in full-length TV programs. In general, Internet bulletin boards are described without any particular order and are expressed in a poor grammatical manner. Our approach is to statistically recognize the notable frequencies of the words which represent viewers' attentions out from such unstructured documents. Attention graphs are the outcome of this approach. Attention graphs are evaluated by three types of tests. The test results demonstrate that attention graphs sufficiently act as viewers' side annotations, in terms of pointing out which scene the viewers pay attention to and clarifying how deeply viewers are impressed by the scenes.

国立国会図書館が目指している「国立国会図書館デジタルアーカイブポータル」は,広く国のデジタルコンテンツ全体へのナビゲーションを行うことを目指すものである。平成19年度以降の稼働に先立ち,プロトタイプを構築し「統合検索」のために必要な機能の検証を行ってきた。本稿ではプロトタイプの概要を示し,さらに今後の方向性について述べる。デジタルアーカイブを保有する各機関にWebサービスによるサービス提供機能の実装を呼びかけるとともに,Web2.0時代にふさわしいポータルの構築を目指し,機械的な連携とデジタル情報の一層の利活用を図る。

昨今のWeb2.0と呼ばれるユーザーの参加性が高い情報サービスのネットワークの隆盛は,オープンソースとオープンコンテントが交差することによって生じた結果であると考えられる。この稿では,オープンソースからいかにオープンコンテントの概念が生まれ,そしてクリエイティブ・コモンズというシステムが開発され,展開しているかということについて,基礎的な紹介と解説を行う。

This study is on the appropriate setting of the angle of view and reality in computer graphics, as a method of simulation of interior. 1. For the simulation of the room about 1 6 m^2, using 17 inch monitor. 74 degrees is the best horizontal angle of view. 2. We studied what element of space affects the reality of CG and how it affects. We think the CG is real, when the shadow, the smoothness of the curved surface and the texture are real. The detail of modeling, the fineness of mesh, the texture, the times of calculation and the method of rendering affect the reality. But their highest settings don't result in highest reality and we can set the parameters properly. 3. The media we present CG is not so influential on the reality, but it affects the space perception so much.
