The present paper, being the continuation of the auther's earlier reports on the Koku Kenkyusho Zasturoku, consists of two parts. The former is the experiments of the air flow characteristics through an ordinary inlet valve and seat. Generally the air flow through an inlet valve has four different flow configurations I, II, III and IV with the increase of its lift as shown in Fig. 7,and at their tranferences there appear discontinuous points in the lift flow quantity curve, which are called as singular points. The latter is the experiments of variations of the flow configurations and the flow quantities, according to the changes or reformations of the shapes of the inlet valve and seat. There are five changeable points in the shapes as shown in Fig. 3. By these reformations the flow configuration and the flow quantity vary considerably, and often disappear the flow configurations II & III. The most efficient reformation is the rounding of the sharp edges of the valve and seat, and by this reformation Hispano Suiza 300 〓 engine increased 10〜15 〓 at 1800-1900 r.p.m.

<p>In Washington Irving's <i>Bracebridge Hall</i>,<i> or The Humorists</i>,<i> A Medley</i> (1822), Frank Bracebridge, a fictional squire, tries to protect his and his family's old-fashioned lifestyle from the overwhelming wave of the industrial revolution. With the voice of Geoffrey Crayon, Irving ironizes their bigoted adherence to the disappearing customs of England's "good old times." William Hazlitt criticized this work as literary anachronism, blaming Irving for not seeing what the British were really like and building up his idealized image of them based on the old books he had read in America. Behind this anachronism, however, exists Irving's critical vision on the parental-filial relationship between the United Kingdom and America, and the inheritance of the (trans) national past. "Dolph Heyliger," a success story of a young American, placed near the end of <i>Bracebridge Hall</i>, evinces that Dolph's relationship with his ancestral past is quite the opposite of what the English squire does for restoring the good old times in his fief. Dolph is neither a seeker for nor a guardian of what was gone. His ancestral ghost guides him to an itinerary in which he discovers his ancestral treasure in the end. Not only is this story a huge irony to Bracebridge's unsuccessful restorationism, but also it works as Irving's metaphorical vision on how America, a grown-up child that severed itself from the United Kingdom, can reinstall a new parental-filial relationship with this country. This transatlantic vision includes the American author's aspiration for the role of America as the potential inheritor of British's literary and cultural tradition. <i>Bracebridge Hall</i> opens a space to situate such a vision, without which Irving would not end his literary pilgrimage in the United Kingdom that he began with <i>The Sketch Book</i>.</p>

<p>スマートフォンとTwitterの普及により,今の自分の状況を投稿する人が増加してきた. ツイートには本文の他に画像や位置情報を添付でき,外出先で撮影した画像を即座に投稿することができる. 本研究では,これらのTwitterに投稿された位置情報付き画像ツイートリアルタイムなイベント検出を行う. さらに,イベントを表す画像を抽出することにより,視覚的にイベントが捉えられるようにする.</p>

明治国家は、1872年に壬申戸籍を作成し、結婚や離婚を新たな近代的な制度でコントロールを開始した。同年いわゆる芸娼妓解放令を国際的な対面上出すも、それは新たな近代的公娼制度への布石でもあった。検黴をうけ、登録された娼妓のみが、客と性的な関係を結ぶことができるシステムであった。大日本帝国の植民地拡大は、海外醜業婦と呼ばれる売春婦という国辱的な評価の拡大でもあった。その中には、湾妻、満妻とよばれる妾も含まれた。一方で写真花嫁も近代的な写真を交換して夫となる日本人男性のもとへ海をわたる花嫁たちもいた。花嫁であることを証明するためにハワイやアメリカの移民局では結婚式を挙げさせていた期間もあった。本稿は20世紀初頭、なぜ花嫁は海を渡るのか、当時妻になるとはどのような意味をもったのかを解明する。移民局での挙式のスタイルは、神前結婚という「伝統の発明」に引き継がれ、花嫁の無事到着を知らせる結婚写真は、〈伝統〉と〈モダニティ〉の接合が移民先にスピンオフしたものととらえられるのではないか。写真は更なる憧憬をかきたて、連鎖していった。内地での伝統と近代性の接合と同時に、あるいはそれよりもはやく、海を渡ることで近代性を獲得していた可能性を示す。 The Meiji government controled marriage and divorce through koseki (family registration) since 1872. In the same year the emancipation of Geigi and Syougi (geisha girls and prostitutes) also came into effect; however, this also marked the beginning of the modern Licensed Prostitution System. Only Syougi who had passed an examination for venereal diseases and possessed a license could have intimacy with the customer. As the Empire of Japan had extended its power, Japanese prostitutes had also appeared in many regions and acquired a certain reputation. Some of them became concubines as Wantsuma in Taiwan and Mantsuma in Manchuria; meanwhile, many picture brides crossed the sea after exchanging photographs with their husbands-to-be. It was quite natural for Hawaiian and American authorities to suspect them of being prostitutes. In order to prove they were really wives, the authorities required them to have a wedding ceremony and have their picture taken at the immigration office. This paper will examine why brides crossed the sea. What kind of connotation did becoming a wife have in those days? The wedding ceremony at the immigration office might have affected the ceremony boom of the invention of Shinto style weddings in the early twentieth century. Spinning off from modernity is a key concept of understanding why brides crossed the sea.
