The paper discusses how genetically-modified (GM) seeds containing patents affect benefits for bio-majors (large seed corporations) and farmers based on interviews with actors in the GM seed supply system. The first analysis indicated the importance of the patents system for bio-majors to recover investments when farmers replant bio-majors’ seeds. The second analysis, based on a field study, revealed that seed suppliers in the GM seed system can enhance the benefits for bio-majors and of farmers who purchase GM seeds in the market. In conclusion, the role of seed dealers is indispensable in achieving the optimum resource allocation, to maintain the beneficial patent system for bio-majors and farmers.

ウェブアプリケーションにデスクトップアプリケーションに迫る機能や操作性をもたらす Ajax という技術がある.本研究ではこの Ajax を用いて,OS などの環境に依存しない SSH クライアントシステムの提案と実装を行う.JavaScript により,ウェブブラウザ上で SSH パケットを生成し,ウェブサーバに SSH サーバへの TCP 通信を代理してもらうことで,エンドツーエンドの SSH 通信を実現する.動作実験により,複数のウェブブラウザと携帯電話で動作することを確認した.Ajax is used to make web applications behave as if they are desktop applications. In this paper, we propose and implement SSH client system using Ajax which is independent from OS. In our system, SSH packets are generated by JavaScript on a web browser, and a web server acts as proxy to send the packets to SSH server. Thus end-to-end SSH communication is realized by achieving above function. The result of experiment shows that the system is working correctly on web browsers in PCs and mobile-phones.

Increasing numbers of azole-resistant Aspergillus fumigatus (ARAf) in the environment have become a global public health issue. We surveyed tulip bulbs that were imported from the Netherlands and found that 6.3–15.8% of bulbs were contaminated by ARAf with a tandem-repeat mutation in the promoter region of the cyp51A gene. We also showed that fungicide treatment of the tulip bulbs by benomyl or prochloraz effectively reduced the rate of isolation. This is the first report demonstrating a method of eliminating human fungal pathogens from plant bulbs.

The present paper aims 1) to construct an objective feminism scale which measures the level of awareness of sexual equality and the independence of Japanese women and 2) to test the reliability and validity of this scale. A survey was conducted of 174 women between the ages of 20 and 59. The questionnaire consisted of 2 parts: 1) a feminism scale and 2) demographic and psychographic variables. The responses to the scale were statistically analyzed using GP analysis, factor analysis and coefficient reliability. The results show that the scale is reliable as a measurement of feminist awareness as I have defined it. The subjects were (1) divided into three groups (high, medium, low) on their level of awareness and (2) classified into groups for each variable. The fact that significant quantitative differences were found among the 3 groups based on various demographic and psychographic characteristics (e.g. age, education, marital status, work/plans and role consciousness) indicates the validity of the scale.

財政出動は景気底上げにどの程度,寄与するのか.従来,どちらかと言えば懐疑的な見方が増えていた財政政策の効果を,マクロ計量モデルによる「政府支出乗 数」の計測値に着目して考える.内閣府(旧経済企画庁)モデルや,筆者が推計に関わっているマクロモデルを例にとり,現在および過去の乗数がどのように算 出されてきたかを確認,それと日本経済の変化がどのように関係しているか考察する.さらに,財政支出追加を「継続」した場合の3年後,5年後までの中期的な影響についても検討する.それらを踏まえて,財政出動のあり方について私見を交え簡単な整理を試みる.

日本酒の味表現で多く用いられているのが比喩表現である.これまでの味表現の分析から,香り,甘味,酸味,旨味,苦味についてのいろいろな比喩表現が用いられていることがわかっている.本研究では,比喩表現を用いることでどのような味の違いを説明しているのか,また,比喩表現以外の味表現との違いにはどのようなものがあるのについての分析結果を報告する.
