【目的】生活習慣病の予防において、適度な習慣的運動の重要性が注目されているが、食事摂取とのバランスや相互作用については不明な部分が多く、分子レベルでの作用機構の解明は十分ではない。我々は、赤ワインに含まれるポリフェノール、レスベラトロールが生活習慣病の薬剤標的である核内受容体PPARを活性化すること、レスベラトロールを摂取したマウスで運動持久力が改善することを見出している。本研究では、レスベラトロール摂取によるPPARαを介した運動持久力改善効果の作用機構を検討するとともに、習慣的運動の効果についての検討を行った。【方法】PPARα欠損型(KO)および対照野生型(WT)雄性マウス(129系)に、レスベラトロール(0,0.4%)添加した普通食または高脂肪食を4週間摂取させた。期間中、週5日の運動を負荷する群としない群に分けて飼育を行った。飼育開始時と4週目に、トレッドミルを用いて運動持久力を測定した。飼育終了後には肝臓と筋肉を採取し、各種遺伝子の相対的発現量の変化を解析した。【結果】普通食群のWTでは、レスベラトロール摂取により肝臓でのPPARα依存的な遺伝子の発現誘導が認められた。習慣的な運動負荷を併用したWTでは、筋肉でのPPAR応答遺伝子群や持久力に関わる遺伝子の発現誘導が見られ、運動持久力の向上効果が認められた。しかしながら、KOあるいは高脂肪食を負荷したWTでは、この変化が消失した。以上より、レスベラトロールによる運動持久力改善効果にはPPARα活性化が寄与すること、筋肉におけるPPAR応答遺伝子の発現誘導には、レスベラトロールの摂取に加えて習慣的な運動負荷が必要で、その結果が運動持久力の向上につながること、運動持久力の改善には肝臓と筋肉の相互作用が関与する可能性があることが明らかとなった。

高齢者にとって,身体機能の維持と認知症の進行防止は,要支援・要介護状態にならないよう予防する観点から,重要な課題である.遊びながら楽しく体を動かし,脳に刺激を与える取り組みは,遊びリテーションと呼ばれており,著者らはこのコンセプトに VR技術を導入した取り組みを模索してきた.本稿では, VR技術と高齢者の遊びリテーションについて整理し,著者らの事例を通して,その効果や問題点を明らかにする.

漢方薬の補中益気湯が有効であったいびき、嗄声および嚥下困難の3症例を報告した。症例1は75歳の男性。1年前より続く榎声と声の出しにくさがある。発声時に紡錘状の声門間隙ができる。軽度の気息性嗄声でG1R0B1A0S0、MPTは15秒であった。いわゆる老人性嗄声と診断した。補中益気湯の投与により、1カ月後には嗄声は改善、MPTは25秒に延長。発声時声門間隙もほとんど目立たなくなった。症例2は48歳の女性。主訴はいびきで、睡眠時無呼吸はない。鼻閉なく、上気道の器質的狭窄部位もないことから、睡眠時の軟口蓋や舌の筋緊張低下によるいびきと考えられた。補中益気湯の1週間の投与により、投与前10のいびきの強さが、1.5に小さくなった。症例3は71歳の女性。睡眠時無呼吸を伴わないいびきがあり、手足がだるく食後に眠くなりやすい。また、3カ月前より飲食物がのどにひっかかることがあり、むせやすい。筋緊張低下によるいびきと診断し、これに対して補中益気湯を投与したところ、いびきは半分以下となっただけでなく、嚥下困難および手足のだるさと食後の眠気も改善した。嚥下困難は加齢によるものと思われた。補中益気湯には筋緊張と運動を高める作用があるといわれており、これらの症例では、軟口蓋、舌、咽頭、喉頭などの筋肉の緊張や運動性が高まり、症状の改善がみられたと考えられる。

In this paper, deterioration diagnosis for distribution main pipe was studied using the uniform cylindrical shell approximation and in-plane bending mode. The in-plane bending mode is expected to have high accuracy in detection of deterioration, because the eigen frecuency of the mode is proportional to pipe thickness. First, using the finite element method, the characteristics of in-plane bending mode are investigated. It is confirmed that in-plane bending mode has little small dependence on the pipe length and the boundary conditions at the pipe ends, it appears in the audio frequency bands, and it has linear dependence on the pipe thickness. In addition, formula with two dimensional ring approximation is derived. Moreover, the average thickness and the uniform-cylindrical shell approximation are introduced for deal with the deteriorated pipe. Using the thinning pipe thickness of previous study, validity of the average thickness and the uniform-cylindrical shell approximation were confirmed. On the other hand, actual pipeline has the sub-structure, for example, valve, hydrant, and so on. In order to deal with the coupled vibration between the cylindrical shell and the sub-structure, eigenvalue analysis are conducted using the Semi-Analytical Receptance Method (SARM). The experimental consideration were conducted in case of that the sub-structure non-attached case. The in-plane bending mode is observed experimentally on the actual pipe system and its resonant frequency shows good match with the theoretical values.

The technique of rapid evaluation of fatigue limit using infrared thermography has been paid attention during the past 30 years. This technique is beneficial because it also makes possible to detect the location of fatigue damage in real structures. In this technique, the second harmonic of temperature variation during cyclic loading is often used as a measure of the temperature evolution to evaluate the fatigue limit. The source of the second harmonic has been already investigated quantitatively for the load amplitude above the fatigue limit but has not been investigated very well for the load amplitude below the fatigue limit. In this research, five factors (second harmonic caused by energy dissipation, applied load signal, photoelectric current of infrared sensor, quantization error and specimen movement) were examined quantitatively to examine the source of the second harmonic below the fatigue limit. Experiments were conducted for double edge notched specimens of type 304 stainless steel. As a result, it was found that the second harmonic of temperature variation below the fatigue limit is mainly caused by loading equipment. In conclusion, it is suggested that the fatigue limit should be evaluated by fitting curves considering the second harmonic proportional to the square of the load amplitude.

The wavelet transform is applied to time-frequency analysis of dispersive stress waves. The Gabor function is adopted as the analyzing wavelet. The magnitude of the wavelet transform of wave data takes its maximum value at the time when the stress wave reaches the observation point with its group velocity at each frequency. An experiment on the flexural wave in a beam shows that the dispersion relation for the group velocity can be accurately identified by the wavelet transform of measured data. In addition, the application of the wavelet transform to ultrasonic testing of a polymer alloy shows that changes in velocity and attenuation coefficient due to mechanical damaging can be evaluated at each frequency. These results suggests that the wavelet transform has potential ability to present more detailed evaluation of material damages.

A questionnaire survey of female college students about their state of health revealed high rates of those with complaints such as easy fatiguability, increased sensitivity to cold, and orthostatic dizziness. Detailed analysis of the results of general blood tests performed in April 2014 showed that the subjects were generally prone to anemia. Students suspected to have anemia based on the results of a red cell morphology study were put on a high-mineral, low-carbohydrate diet, and changes in parameters closely related to anemia were evaluated.

<p>The Social Value Orientation (SVO) explains individual differences in cooperation attitudes. In this study, we examine whether the SVO affects the time taken, and amount of information gathered, when judging the trustworthiness of other people. Participants were able to choose a partner based on the past allocation patterns of candidates, mimicking how people are able to select with whom they cooperate in their social environments. We investigated the effect of the SVO on the method of gathering information on character and choosing a social exchange partner. The results revealed that participants with a prosocial (cooperative) orientation took less time to choose a partner, gathered less information, and tended to choose partners who behaved equally with everyone, compared to participants with an individualistic (selfish) orientation. Our findings suggest that people with a prosocial orientation prefer partners who treat everyone equally, regardless of the relationship, while people with an individualistic orientation deliberately seek out candidates who are likely to provide a relationship which is beneficial to themselves.</p>

In order to investigate the fundamental process of residual stress development in thermal barrier coating during thermal spray, a model experiment was conducted using a paraffin wax. Melted paraffin wax was dropped onto a circular substrate of type 430 stainless steel, and strain and temperature were measured on the back surface of substrate. The model experiment revealed that tensile quenching strain was developed during solidification and adhesion process and it was increased with the number of droplets. Development of the quenching strain and failure of paraffin coating were significantly influenced by substrate temperature. The lower substrate temperature caused the larger quenching strain, and facilitated cracking, delamination and debonding of the coating. Findings in a series of the model experiments showed some similarities to actual phenomena during thermal spray, and will provide a helpful suggestion to optimize various process parameters in thermal spray.
