The present study analyzed demographic and psychological factors that affect adult men's decisions to solicit a prostitute. We administered a questionnaire to 1 400 randomly sampled men aged 20 to 59, who live in the Tokyo metropolitan area (obtaining 664 valid responses). The results revealed that 14.6 percent of respondents have had the experience of being a client in prostitution at some point over the past four to five years. Men in their 50s, who spent their adolescence before the enforcement of anti-prostitution laws, had high prostitution acceptability. Those in their 20s and 30s, who spent their adolescence in the 1990s when “Enjyo-Kousai” (Japanese amateur prostitution)gained topicality, also showed high rates. These findings are considered to be birth cohort effects. In addition, those men who reported grater sexual drive and desire for intimate contact with others, as well as those who reported fewer attitudes of gender egalitarianism, had higher rates of prostitution solicitation. Finally, those men who reported less emotional family bonds also showed higher rates.

本研究は,『援助交際』を現代女子青年の性的逸脱行動として捉え,その背景要因を明らかにするものである。『援助交際』は,「金品と引き換えに, 一連の性的行動を行うこと」と定義された。首都圏の女子高校生600人を無作為抽出し, 質問紙調査を行った。『援助交際』への態度 (経験・抵抗感) に基づいて, 回答者を3群 (経験群・弱抵抗群・強抵抗群) に分類した。各群の特徴の比較し,『援助交際』に対する態度を規定している要因について検討したところ, 次のような結果が得られた。1) 友人の『援助交際』経験を聞いたことのある回答者は,『援助交際』に対して, 寛容的な態度を取っていた。2)『援助交際』と非行には強い関連があった。3)『援助交際』経験者は, 他者からほめられたり, 他者より目立ちたいと思う傾向が強かった。本研究の結果より,『援助交際』を経験する者や,『援助交際』に対する抵抗感が弱い者の背景に, 従来, 性非行や性行動経験の早い者の背景として指摘されていた要因が, 共通して存在することが明らかとなった。さらに, 現代青年に特徴的とされる心性が,『援助交際』の態度に大きく関与し, 影響を与えていることが明らかとなった。

This study examined the criteria employed in judging the presence or absence of gender equality for dividing roles and resources between men and women in 3 situations-the workplace, domestic labor, and childrearing. Two hundred and forty six female university students responded to the questionnaire. The results indicated individual differences regarding the importance of the principles of "traits of men and women" and "equality". On the other hand, the importance of the other criteria varied according to the situations. In a workplace situation, "equal opportunity" and the principles of "individual ability", "effort", and "need" were perceived as important. "Procedural justice based on discussion" in a domestic labor situation, and "the procedural justice based on one's decision" and the principles of "individual ability" and "effort" in a childrearing situation were considered as important.

This study developed a Japanese version of the "Regret and Maximization Scale" in decision making, which was originally constructed by Schwartz, Ward, Monterosso, Lyubomirsky, White, and Lehman (2002). This scale measures assess the tendency to experience regret, and individual differences in the desire to maximize or to satisfy. In Study 1, the original version of the "Regret and Maximization Scale" was translated into Japanese and administered to 307 Japanese university students responded the scale. Factor analysis did not replicate the finding of Schwartz et al. (2002). In Study 2, we developed new items, and constructed a "Japanese Version of the Regret and Maximization Scale", based on the interpretation of the factor analysis in Study 1. This new version of the scale was administered to 163 Japanese university students. The result of factor analysis and reliability analysis indicated that this "Japanese Version of the Regret and Maximization Scale" had a considerably high Cronbach's alpha and conceptual validity.

本研究では,社会的公正理論に基づき,6因子からなる男女平等の判断基準を測定する尺度を作成し,男女差の有無および性差観,自身の母親観,精神的健康との関連について検討を行った。その結果,性差観には男女差 が認められなかったが,男性よりも女性の方が,男女平等の判断基準として,個人の能力の原理および話し合いによる決定の原理に対して肯定的な認識を有していた。また,個人の能力の原理および二つの手続き的公正の原 理に対して肯定的であるほど,性差観が弱いことが示された。さらに,男女ともに自身の母親観は,男女平等の判断基準や性差観,精神的健康とも関連していたが,男性に比べ女性の方が,母親との関係性が精神的健康ある いは自身の生き方満足感と直接的間接的に関連することが示された。

離婚後の単独親権の日本で、離婚後、共同養育を実現するために,1日本の家族意識調査、2日本の面会交流の実態調査、3離婚の共同養育、離婚観などに対する国際比較調査(日本・米国・韓国)を実施した。以上の調査から、日本の伝統的な家族意識や離婚に対する偏見意識が共同養育への意識に否定的影響を与えること、面会交流は両親の紛争により中断されやすいこと、共同養育に対する否定的意識は韓国、日本、アメリカの順に高いことなどが明らかになった。これらの結果に基づいて、米国の離婚後の親教育プログラムを改訂し行政と連携して実施した。
