The tsunami generated by the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku earthquake inundated coastal flat areas, moved auto vehicles, boats and ships and destroyed part of a breakwater in Hachinohe Port. In this paper, propagation and inundation calculations of the tsunami are implemented from an estimated tsunami source. Consideration of the breakwater damage in the calculations provides a good result of the tsunami in the port in comparison with the waveform observed at a tide station in the port, the measured inundation border and heights of tsunami watermarks. Based on the time of breakwater destructions in the calculation, failure mechanisms of the breakwater damage are estimated. Further, movement of a ship in the port is calculated and compared with a result of video footage analysis.

Temporal and spatial variations of suspended particulate matter (SPM) in Tokyo Bay were investigated based on intensive field surveys and numerical simulation. Measurement results showed that the relative high turbidity appeared in the front of bottom high saline water and the middle turbid layer was generated corresponding to the middle hypoxic water generation induced by the intrusion of offshore oceanic water. The neutral tracer tracking simulation shows that bottom SPM have a characteristic to distribute along the front of bottom high saline water which forms the streak pattern from off Tama river mouth to off Chiba port in the south wind period and moves to the head region in north wind period. Furthermore the neutral tracer tracking and water quality simulations revealed that the bottom SPM can be moved upward by the intrusion of oceanic water in the bottom layer due to the change of wind direction or offshore water variations.

宮城県の貞山運河が東日本大震災の際の巨大津波に対して幾分かの津波減勢作用を見せたことは,当時の被災時のビデオ解析や災害後の被害調査結果などから明らかにされている.いま貞山運河はその地域の復興のシンボルとして,その保全や新たな防災活用が注目されている.本研究は,水理実験により,運河の持つ津波防災効果を解明することを目的としている.運河の津波減勢作用は,直立護岸の場合と比較され,浸水深の低減,津波到達時間の遅延,流速の減勢,比エネルギーの低減に関して,護岸の持つ減勢作用と同程度かそれ以上の効果を持つことが示されている.MPS法の妥当性を実験値との比較で示し,その応用として運河の両岸に盛土部を設置した場合の効果が議論されている.

We proposed to take several wave boundaries which make possible multi-way incident into three dimensional analytical boundary and then we made three dimensional tsunami analysis over wide area based on the result of two dimensional analysis. By this proposed technique, the propagation movement of two dimensional tsunami was reflected in three dimensional analysis boundary, and the continuous generation of the tsunami simulation that comprised a macroscopic evaluation of the tsunami and a microscopic evaluation in the vicinity of the site could be shown. This analysis of the continuous generation of tsunami can be expected as a technique to be able to achieve the flood simulation in high accuracy as well as being able to make the evaluation of the power of tsunami load that affects on embankments, bridges, and buildings.

Sensitivity of turbulence models and grid resolution are investigated in the simulation of collapse of a water column by a three-dimensional tsunami analysis with VOF method in comparison with the previous experimental results. LES turbulence model is found as an effective model in simulation of tsunami wave run-up on shores. High mesh resolution or mesh refinement need to be adapted around walls to simulate the collision of tsunami wave on buildings and structures. The performance of the tsunami analysis is also confirmed in comparison with a tsunami run-up water tank test. A large-scale simulation is carried including a wide urban area with complex terrain. Local concentration of high wave height distribution in narrow steep terrain and inhibitory effect of buildings and structures on tsunami run-up have been found.

This paper describes the performance of the weather research and forecasting (WRF) model applied for Typhoon Maemi in 2003 in the mid-latitude (N35°_55°) using grid point value (GPV) data of NCEP FNL (ds083.2) and NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis (ds090.0), by changing planetary boundary layer scheme and cloud microphysics. It was found that typhoon tracks are closer to the best track when using ds090.0 data, while intensity is well simulated by using ds083.2 in the range of over N30°. In addition, wind is more sensitive to the planetary boundary layer scheme than the cloud microphysics. Sea level pressure is similarly sensitive to both schemes of the planetary boundary layer scheme and the cloud microphysics.

Regarding 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, more than 20,000 people were killed or missing. In addition, more than 90% of killed people were due to tsunami. Many people could not or did not evacuate from tsunami despite enough evacuation time and warning information. The awareness of danger in a community increases by not only information given by the governments and the mass media but also behaviors of people in a community. After their awareness reaches their upper limit, they start evacuation. In this study, authors developed the simulation model for the initiation process of community's tsunami evacuation focusing on awareness of danger in a community. Authors verified the model with simple conditions, and validated in the case study of an elderly care facility which was attacked by the 2011 Tohoku tsunami.

The tsunami of 2011 Tohoku Pacific-Coast Earthquake broke river-ice, and generated ice jam in Hokkaido, Japan. This study aimed to clarify the phenomenon of ice jam generated by tsunami in ice covered river. We built the river-ice calculation model. In order to check the accuracy of this calculation model, we conducted ice jam experiment and a calculation value reproduced an experiment value. We understood that it was important to set up "the conditions to generate of ice jam" and "the allowable stress of river-ice" appropriately in this calculation model. This following phenomenon was found by Simulation of Ice Jam. At the time of tsunami intrusion to ice-covered river, River-ice was destroyed and moved to the upstream. River-ice was deposited in narrow river-width. Ice jam was generated at this point.

1980年1月,北海道の日本海側に位置するK海岸に大型の低気圧が来襲し,大型バスと救急車が高波による越波の影響を受け,路外へ滑動および横転する事故が発生した.本研究では,事故時の関係者および当時の新聞記事などから事故状況を分析し,縮尺1/30の2次元水理模型実験により,事故発生当時の護岸背後地における越波状況を再現した.また,波力実験を行って越波流速を指標として被災車両に作用した越波による波力の定量的評価を行うとともに,越波流速と滑動距離との関係を明らかにした.さらに,当該事故発生後に越波対策として消波ブロックが設置された断面に対して越波流量および越波流速を求め,通行車両の安全性を確認した.

Many concrete and steel structures near shoreline are damaged severely by generated salt spray from sea surface. To reduce the transportation of salt spray near shoreline is effective method of prevention of salt damage. In this study, to discuss the effect of the structure on the reduction of salt spray concentration, experiments of transportation of salt spray were carried out. The wind velocity and the distribution of salt spray concentration around the permeable structures were measured in the wind tunnel. In this result, the structure that set up filters can effectively reduce the transportation of salt spray concentration, the experiment data showed that the decrease of salt spray concentration is influenced from the salt amount of adhesion of structures.

Various laboratory experiments were performed to examine the effects of H2S (Hydrogen Sulfide) on R. philippinarum in this study. These results were as follows. 1) Most of clam closed its shell, in case was placed in the anoxic water. However, the number of clam that opened its shell increased with time. 20 hours later, the dying clam appeared after the clam extended the siphon and pelecypod. 2) H2S exposure had an insignificant effect on the clam, they closed shells. However, the clam was significantly affected by H2S exposure when they opened its shell and extended siphon and pelecypod. 3) When the water was hypoxic or anoxic before Blue tide occurrence (Aoshio), the clam would directly suffer severe effects of H2S because the extended soft tissue from the inside of shell was exposed.

古くから熊野信仰やお伊勢参りで知られる紀伊半島には多くの神社が鎮座している.太平洋に面する本半島沿岸は,2012年に公表された内閣府による南海トラフ巨大地震の被害想定(第二次報告)で甚大な被害が出ると予想されており,限られた平野部に拓かれた集落における避難場所の確保が重要な課題のひとつになっている.本研究では,本半島沿岸1km圏内に鎮座する神社の空間配置の諸情報(緯度経度・標高)と内閣府による津波被害の想定結果を用いて,将来の南海トラフ地震時における神社の津波被災リスクについて検証した.その結果,境内が直接被災するのは2割程度に留まるが,こうした神社の多くは浸水深が1mを超え,避難場所には適さないことがわかった.祭神別では,伊勢神宮の主祭神である天照大神とその周辺の神々で津波被災リスクは低くなっていることが明らかにされた.

東日本大震災発生前より,リアルタイム津波予測の研究が行われている.それらの研究では,データベースによる予測とリアルタイムシミュレーションによる予測という2つの方法が検討されていた.そして大震災発生後には,リアルタイム測地データによる地盤変動の即時推定技術を津波予測に取り入れる研究も進められている.そこで,本研究では,これらの技術を併用することにより,PCなどの安価な計算機を利用した場合でも,避難に役立つ精度の高い津波浸水予測を得ることができる手法を検討した.東日本大震災での事例を用いて4つの研究対象地域を選択し,地震発生後10分で得られる浸水予測情報を具体的に示した.さらに,浸水範囲や浸水高の実測値と比較することにより,本研究で提案した予測手法の精度の確認を行うことができた.

波打ち帯での遡上波の打上げと打下げの相互干渉は,砕波を伴う複雑な自由水面の変化をもたらす.また,透水性を有した斜面での浸透・滲出流の存在は,底面掃流力に影響するが,ドライベッドへの打上げは底面掃流力の急変をもたらすため,漂砂量の見積に大きな影響をおよぼす.本研究では,複雑な水表面境界と移動床境界を追跡するため,波動場計算にMPS法を採用し,移動床計算にDEMを用いたMPS-DEMカップリングによる数値シミュレーションを実施する.計算で得られた礫浜斜面における浸透・滲出流による圧力勾配力の位相別岸沖分布から,海浜変形計算に対する浸透流の重要性が示された.また,特に掃流力が強く,顕著な浸透流が見込まれる領域では,浸透流を考慮した漂砂量予測の重要性が示唆された.

Field survey on coastal dike damage and scouring induced by the Great East Japan Earthquake Tsunami was conducted in the Southern Part of Sendai Plain. Erosion rate of dike cross section was estimated by using topographical data obtained by airborne laser scanner. The erosion rate tends to increase with relative height of coastal dike from the landside ground. Tsunami overtopping caused scouring at the landward toe of coastal dike, being a trigger of dike failure. Cross-sectional shape of the ground induced by scouring and thickness of tsunami deposit was estimated by portable dynamic cone penetration test and trench survey.

In beach nourishment using gravel, the macadam gravel is used so that the sharp-pointed shape of gravel is of concerned. In this study, the change in the shape of gravels due to wave abrasion was investigated. Gravel samples were collected from the Jinkoji and Akashi coasts in Ibaraki Prefecture, where beach nourishment using coarse materials have been carried out since 2005, and grain size and roundness were measured. It was found that roundness of gravels with an initial value of 0.2 converged to 0.4-0.5 within four years and nine months. Due to the abrasion test of sampled gravels without steel bowls, the content of gravel was as high as 92% of all the volume after the rotation of 1200 times.

The Great East Japan Earthquake occurred on March 11, 2011 and the coastal zones along the Pacific Ocean in Tohoku area have received severe damage by tsunami. Most of coastal forestations have been severely damaged or swept away due to a gigantic tsunami. In this paper, historical background of coastal forestation was studied by detailed literature surveys. An instructive formula was developed between damage level of houses and a distance from coastal forestation by field investigations at the coast of Sendai plain. Furthermore, damage level of houses was clarified as a function of inundation depth of tsunami with influence of a housing code.

In the Ise Bay, there is a problem of drifting debris. This study examines the validity to use an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for the prediction of collection position of the drifting debris. The ANN model predicting the positions of debris generation and debris accumulation is constructed by checking suitable input data and ANN parameters and transfer function. The resulting ANN gives good predictions: 1) The fit ratio of the drifting debris generation positions is 83%; 2) The fit ratio of drifting debris accumulation positions is more than 50%; and 3) In front of Yokkaichi city and southward of Centrair (The central Japan International Airport) are the main places where drifting debris gathers.

The paper presents a 3D-CMPS method for refined simulation of a plunging breaking wave and resultant splash-up. The Corrected MPS (CMPS) has been extended to three dimensions and 3D-CMPS method has been developed on the basis of 3D-MPS method. To enhance the computational efficiency of the calculations, the parallelization of 3D-CMPS method has been carried out with two different solvers of simultaneous linear equations corresponding to the Poisson Pressure Equation (PPE). The parallelization has been performed based on a dynamic domain decomposition strategy for an optimized load balancing among the processors.

We examined fluctuation about sedimentary environment and benthic biota of the Okigamisenishi point in Inner Ariake Sea. and focused on the impact of formation of oxygen-deficient water and resuspension of fine sediments with the typhoon in Summer 2006. As a result, about the relation between oxygen-deficient water and benthos, benthos with poor mobility as Annelida, Mollusca fluctuated corresponding to change of dissolved oxygen, while Arthropod escaped from the ocean space of oxygen-deficient water. About the relation between water contet of fine sediments and benthos, decrease in water content was increased the stability of the sediments, and benthic species and population increased. Dissolved oxygen and water content are an important environmental factors of the benthic habitat.
