This paper describes the newly developed loading apparatus for experimental studies to clarify the restoring force characteristics of reinforced concrete columns subjected to bi-directional horizontal forces and axial force. The loading method by this apparatus is as follows : 1) The base of column is fixed on the bed of loading apparatus. 2) The axial force is vertically applied by dead weight. 3) Two horizontal forces are applied to the top of column by oil jacks independently each other. In this loading apparatus, the relative three rotational displacements between top and base of column are restrained by the link mechanism, but the two horizontal displacements and vertical displacement are not restrained. Three specimens were tested without axial force, in order to obtain the fundamental data about the restoring force characteristics of reinforced concrete columns to bi-directional horizontal displacements and to examine the effects of the link mechanism on restraining rotational displacements. In this experiment, horizontal, vertical and rotational relative displacements were measured. From these experimental results, it was found that all rotational displacements were negligibly small, but horizontal and vertical displacements were not restrained by the link mechanism at all. Therefore, the loading apparatus developed here was operated properly and was restraining the rotational displacements, as was expected in its design. As a result, it was proved that the experiments of reinforced concrete columns subjected to bi-directional horizontal forces and axial force could be carried out on the clear conditions conveniently.

This paper researches about development of dervish lodge that relates with popularization of Sufism. Various bektash dervish lodges in Turkiye were analysed in this research. Popularization of Sufism had two steps. First, Sufism joined men came to the stage, constructing tombs, meeting and pilgrimage rooms which had axis and Islamic proportion were built. Second step was patterned training (style of whirling dance). Beside to whirling dance room, library, Turkish bath and madrasa were constructed. In these buildings Islamic proportion and axis couldn't seem except the axis through Mecca.

The purpose of the present paper is to establish a simulation method of the behavior of fresh concrete at its mixing, placing, consolidating, etc. As one of the method to estimate the flow and deformation of fresh concrete, a method of visco-plastic finite element analysis is proposed, and some analytical results are shown in this paper. In the analysis, slip resistance force between boundary surface and fresh concrete can be considered, and the dynamic behavior can be analyzed by calculation of the retardation of velocity change. The results of simulations are in good agreement with those calculated by simple theoretical equations about some examples such as flowing in pipe, parallel-plates plastometer, slump test, and the adequacy of the proposed analytical method is confirmed.

This paper, taking Futsuka-machi, Tozan-Nakaokutama Village, Iwai District in the area of Sendai clan as an example, clarifies the historical process of the formation of the town belonging to the countryside in Tohoku area in the Edo period through an analysis of the town form and its historical materials. This town originated in a late medieval small castle town which had been founded under a fort, and this restricted its reconstruction in the early Edo period (about 1639). Features of this reconstruction are as follows ; (1) Machikonoshn who were the habitants of Machiyashiki (townhouse) established their own community, and reconstructed the town by themselves. Particularly they built a streight street which had a L-shaped bend at the south end of the town. This arrangement arised from their consciousness of the regularization of Mchinami (townscape on a street). (2) On the east side of the street lined Machiyashiki, and on the west was the huge farmhouse, originated in Zaike (a type of medieval farmhouses), which didn't belong to the town community. Such difference of dwelling places on each side of the street had been succeeded since the late medieval ages. (3) The area of Machiyashiki is of a small scale as compared with others in this village, and its frontage was divided almost equally. However the habitants had large differentials in landholding. This is one of the characteristics of the townplanning in Tohoku area in the early Edo period.

A number of investigations concerning elastic stability of shell type structures subjected to quasi-stasic conservative forces or time depending dynamic forces. However there have been no study for the behavior of them under the action of quasi-static nonconservative forces. In this paper the authors show an analytical study of stability for clamped spherical shells subjected to combined load composed of quasi-static uniform hydropressure (conservative force) and a frictional force (nonconservative tangential follower force). Similar loading conditions, for example, can be realized when an object is moving fast under deep soil or liquid. And it is found that dynamic instabilities take place at some equilibrium states. These tendencies are remarkable in the cases of moderatly deep shells. The authors consider such phenomena will be of interest and important from the view point of structural engineering.

Yokohama, one of the most famous international port cities in Japan, is excellent in its urban design. It is of course ascribed to the superiority of the city planning, and in addition to this, the planning is noticed to be very attentive to even such public facilities as crematoriums. This fact has been clarified in the present study in relation to the history of the city formation of Yokohama since the Meiji era.

The seismic isolation retrofit of the main building of the National Museum of Western Art required excavating the foundation ground under the existent building and installing isolation devices beneath the existing footings. Before the installation of isolation devices, it was necessary to construct piles beneath the existing footings in order to support the weight of the building temporarily during excavation process. The piles were made of steel pipe segments, and were driven by oil jacks utilizing the weight of the building for reaction force. During the retrofitting process, the subsidence of the building supported by the piles were monitored and controlled to avoid causing damage to the superstructure.

In order to clarify post local buckling behavior and plastic rotation capacity of steel beam-columns, cantilever steel beam-columns of H shape cross section were tested under constant vertical load and alternating horizontal load. The test program was composed of two series; fifty nine specimens of Series I tested at large amplitude of plastic deflection, and thirty three specimens of Series II tested at small plastic amplitude. Main parameters involved in the tests were the width-to-thickness ratios of the flange b/f (2b, f : width and thickness of a flange, respetively), ones of the web D/w (D : depth of a cross section, w : thickness of a web), axial load ratios n (P/P_y, P : a constant vertical load of a specimen, P_y : axial yield load of a specimen), and material pro perties of the steel (mild steel and high strength steel). Values of the parameters b/f, D/w, n are as follows : b/f=6〜16 D/w=17〜65 n=0, 0.3, 0.6 In this paper, the test program and test results are reported. Some observation from the test results are as follows : 1) Not only width-to-thickness ratio of the flange but also one of the web and axial load ratio influence on the post local buckling behavior of the steel beam-columns. 2) Not only with axial load but also without axial load, the members subjected to alternating bending shrink due to unbalance of axial load carrying capacities of the buckled flanges.

The purpose of this paper is to inspect the Kesen-carpenters and their genealogies on the construction of shrines and temples through the investigations on both the Munafuda and the documentary records of the Edo and the Meiji periods. In this paper 1 intend to clarify all of the styles and the characteristics of "Kakezukuri" in the Ancient and the Middle ages in Japan. And this paper consists of the following chapters. I "Kakezukuri" has the rock which is in the principal hall(naijin), and believed in ; From the early to the middle of Heian period. II "Kakezukuri" is built in the cave and on the big rock ; From the late of Heian to the Middle ages. III The other cases ; From the end of Heian to the Middle ages. I will present the structure, which is under the floor of "Kakezukuri" in the other part of this series.

Efforts of local governments are essential for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), core elements of the 2030 agenda adopted by the United Nations in September 2015. A nationwide online questionnaire survey was conducted to collect data on the actual implementation level of the SDGs in Japan. Results showed that about 30-40% of local governments is considering/developing a plan and implementing projects towards achievement of the SDGs in Japan.

Recent buildings have been more unburnable than before because changing of construction methods, progress of building materials, preparation of the related laws and regulations and so forth. But buildings have been more unextinguishable contradictory, and extinguish time need more longer than before. There are problems ; Is not the water application ratio low ? How much is the water damage area even if the water is used for extinguishing ? If we survey these problems, it is useful in order to make fire fighting planning. Then we investigated these items as a part of basic study on the extinguishing of the building fire.

本稿は,建築家J.B.フィッシヤー・フォン・エルラッハ(1656-1705)の考案したシェーンブルン城第1案(1688)の建築モチーフの考察と,その形態構成表現の柱ともなる彫像作品群の象徴表現の解釈,即ち象徴性の意味関連を考察する事(イコノロギー解釈)を目的としている。既に前稿[I]で,この計画案の要素となる各建築形態が独立的モチーフであり,合成的表現によって,統一ある運動をもつ一つの全体として表現されていることを指摘した。本論では,この構成技法との関連性を踏まえて,建築モチーフの由来及び特色を考察し,またイコノロギー的表現においては,各彫像群の寓意的解釈に図版全体の幾何学的秩序を関係付けた象徴表現の分析をしている。即ちこの計画案の意味内容に,部分と全体との間の必然的統一関連性を求め,寓意像の存在理由に新たな解釈を加えようとするものである。本論では,この図全体の4つの段階ごとの集まりの分類化,つまり城郭部分,2つの庭園テラス部分,そして主要な彫刻作品のある最下層テラスに分け,分析することで,計画案の個々の造形物の由来と特徴を明らかにしようとした。その結果,この計画案が古代ローマのフォルテューナ神殿復原図,また従来,抽象的にしか指摘されていなかったフランスのサン・ジェルマン・アン・レーの影響を,形態構成分析の考察に基づき,より実証的にその直接的影響を指摘した。また彫像作品間に存在する幾何学的構成表現が,象徴表現となっていると云う筆者の指摘は,城郭上方の皇帝像が下層の4つの彫像群を放射状に支配すると云う構成に基づくものである。これは,太陽神に姿を借りた皇帝像が「世界支配」を象徴化していると云う指摘である。それは,この調和的統合表現によって,一つの観念形態を象徴化するイデオロギー表現の存在を意図したものであろう。最後に,この計画案のイコノロギー表現に関与していたとも云われる哲学者ライプニッツの「調和の哲学概念」の関連性を述べているが,前稿[I]の考察も含めこれは彼の哲学概念の視覚上の表現であると云う従来からの観念的指摘に対する,一つの実証的解釈の試みともなっている。

This study deals with the proposer and the first idea of the Templo de la Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, by examining the origin and development of the Asociacion Espiritual de Devotos de San Jose founded in 1866. As a result, it is made clear that Bocabella was not only the founder of the association but also the poposer of the temple, and no the father Jose Mananet. From the beginning the purpose of the temple was very spiritual and symbolical as well as his association.
