本研究では, 睡眠中生理量を無拘束かつ小型の装置で計測することを目的とする。具体的には等間隔に並べた圧力センサを枕の下に入れ, 圧力値をワンチップマイコンでA/D変換し, 同室のPCに無線で送る。PC上では呼吸数, 寝返り数を計測するアルゴリズムの構築を試みた。実験では, 医療用生理量計測機器とビデオカメラで睡眠中の寝返り数, 呼吸数を計測し, センサ枕による計測結果と比較する。また簡単なモデルを用いて, 呼吸に伴う頭部の圧力値変化を考察する。

Cyclic variations of CO and CO_2 emission were investigated in relation to in-cylinder pressure in a small two-stroke engine. High-speed exhaust gas sampling of 200 Hz was carried out at the exhaust port. The results obtained show that the time resolution of gas sampling was insufficient to account for the cycle-resolved fluctuations observed, but was sufficient to show cyclic variation of emissions. The concentrations of CO and CO_2 were measured with regard to the in-cylinder pressure and IMEP. The misfiring effect was examined from the time variations of CO and CO_2 concentrations. The cyclic variation of the ratio of CO to CO_2 and IMEP showed the same periodic pattern under light load condition.

犬は訓練により, 空中に投げられたフリスビーや物体の落下する近くまで駆けて行って口で受けとめることができる。本研究はそのような犬の動作をロボットで実現するため, 多関節の二足をもつロボットを開発した。空中に放り投げられたこのロボットが空中でオイラー角を検出し, 足を常に地面に向けて軟着陸するようにゴム人工筋を制御することにより, ロボット犬の足からの軟着地実験に成功した。

In this study, operating conditions of a rotating detonation engine with internal mixing has been studied. Hydrogen and oxygen are supplied separately from gas storage tanks and mixed in an annular combustion chamber. The mixture is initiated by a spark discharge placed at the chamber wall surface. As a result, a strong deflagration after ignition is initially generated in the combustion chamber. The experimental results show that the following stages are involved to achieve stable propagation of the rotating detonation : i) a deflagration wave moves to the downstream, ii) a DDT process occurs in the downstream, iii) a detonation wave propagates in the upstream direction, iv) a rotating detonation is stabilized in the combustion chamber.

This paper proposes a new feedback control method for robot arms. The proposed control method needs neither kinematic calibration nor camera calibration. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by experimental results in which a robot with 3DOF and a stereo camera set are utilized.

We investigated strain and grain size effects on the thermal transport of nanocrystalline bismuth antimony telluride thin films using both experimental studies and modeling. The fabricated thin films exhibited the average grain sizes of 30 < d < 100 nm, and the strain of-0.8% < ε < -1.4% in the c-axis direction whereas that of a-b-axis direction was constant at 1.7%. The thermal conductivities were measured using a 3ω method at room temperature. We calculated the lattice thermal conductivity using a simplified phonon transport model that accounts for the strain effect based on Christoffel equation and Lennard-Jones potential, and the grain size effect based on the full distribution of mean free paths. The theoretical calculation was largely in good agreement with our experimental results, and the detailed results will be discussed in the Symposium.

Laboratory experiments on the flow visualization of the airless sprayer were conducted using shear thinning fluids (xanthan gum solutions) in order to improve the efficiency and the quality in the painting process for the ship hull. The behavior of liquid film instability and the droplet formation were strongly affected by the fluid rheology (concentration of xanthan gum solutions) and the spray pressure. In the atomization of 2.0 wt% xanthan gum solution, which is similar to the real paint in rheological property, the behavior of the spinnability was observed. We quantitatively examined the spatio-temporal variation of the liquid film collapsing, and extracted the dominant frequency components of the droplet formation by DFT analysis.

Though it is useful for future design or maintenance to know the actual stress on railway axle, not many cases has been reported. The dynamic stress was measured and clarified for some vehicle and root. The effect of track and running condition was also analyzed. Some difference by track variation was observed. The stress and also the speed dependency on stress were found to be higher on tighter curve. The stress increasing rate on each curve was same even if the vehicle is tare or loaded.

The authors have proposed a marking robot which draws specific marks at designated positions on a ceiling board at construction siteS. After that, a new function was added to the robot. It is necessary to be work which draws a reference straight-line to a ceiling board in building construction sites. This report proposes about the method which makes this task do for a mobile robot. The system is composed of the standard laser, the prototype of Straight-line Drawing Unit (SLD Unit) which has a function of tracking the laser beam and a function of drawing, and the mobile robot. The robot loads the SLD Unit and moves toward the standard laser. In order to catch the standard laser beam, the robot changes its trajectory. The robot controls its two drive wheels in a way that allows each wheel to move independently, so it can trace a straight line. Based on the experiments, the robot could the task of drawing the amplitude of the straight line with an accuracy of plus or minus 1 mm when drawing a 10 m line. This paper mainly describes the SLD Unit and the wheel control, and presents the experimental results of marking by the robot.

We are developing positioning systems for mobile robots working at construction sites. In earlier work, we investigated the use of pillars as reference points at construction sites for a position recognition system, and reported on the performance of a prototype system. To further increase the flexibility of the robot system, we have developed a new self-position measurement system for the mobile marking robot. This new system is aimed at expansion of the work area of the marking robot. The system is composed of a prototype of a laserpointer robot and a marking robot with laser-spot detectors. The marking robot uses a point of laser light projected onto it by the laser-pointer robot, placed at a reference point, to determine its position. This report outlines the method for the self-position measurements and describes the performance of the system in a field test.

We develop quantitative evaluation method of airless spray by using entropy of gray scale image. Stroboscopic method is employed to visualize the spray. An undesirable "tail" region of the spray is detected as low image entropy area. As against the conventional visual judgment, the proposed method enables a quantitative evaluation of spray.

Tapered seal is widely applied to hold lubricating oil inside the clearance at the ends of fluid film bearing utilized in precise machines such as a spindle motor of HDD system. This study aims to analyze theoretically the fundamental working mechanism of tapered seal. Applying the analysis on meniscus of fluid surface due to the surface tension cooperating with the results of computational fluid dynamics for velocities and pressure fields under the axisymmetric and steady-state condition, the mechanism of the sealing ability of the tapered seal is clarified, and an index value which represents the sealing capacity of a tapered seal is introduced. The effects of some design and working parameters, such as the taper angle of the sleeve and the initial fluid volume, on the sealing capacity are discussed through the index value. The role of the barrier film coating on the sleeve surface to the sealing capacity is also studied theoretically.
