各種金属材料のブリネル硬度と引張又は圧縮強との關係が實験上確定されたものも多いので試験が比較的簡易に行ひ得る硬度測定を以て引張試験等に代へる場合も在るに到つた。ブリネル硬度は例令同一材料でも、鋼球の大小、押圧力、常温加工度の相違、圧延材の圧延方向の影響、結晶粒の大小、温度の影響、等の外に試験片の大小に依つて違ふものである。著者は試験片の厚さ、表面積の最小限度竝に厚さと表面積との關係影響を明かにする爲め軟鋼及銅材を用ひて實験を行ひ、試験片は應力分布の算出に便利なる様円柱状となした。直径は12〜55mm, 厚さは7.5〜20mmの範囲で、標準硬度10/3,000/30及10/1,000/30に依つて得た結果を更に硬度試験に於ける規定硬度数に對する公差竝に他の實験結果をも斟酌して次の結論を得た。即ち試験片の直径と窪み円の直径との比が4以上、厚さと窪みとの比は6以上の場合の硬度を採らねばならぬ。尚又以上の實験に於て試験片内部の塑性変形を考察して應力分布状態を近似的に算出し以て参考となした。

Trajectory of two-seam and four-seam fast ball were examined experimentally. Each special fast ball was thrown by a baseball player and a pitching machine. They were also compared experimentally. Photograph were taken by a video camera behind the catcher player. Trajectories of their balls were calculated from the photographs. Two-seam fast ball swift occasionally right and left horizontally and sometimes went down vertically. The trajectory was similar to that of other change balls such as slider and curved ball. However, the motion of the pitcher was very similar to that of four-seam fast ball. It was suggested that a batter was difficult to find out fast ball and 2-seam swift ball at a glance of pitcher.

超音速衝動タービン翼列の設計方法は, 既に, いくつか公表されており, 中でもBoxerらが最初提唱した超音速自由うず流式のものが著名である. しかし, その性能については系統的資料が乏しく, 不明な点が多い. 本研究は, 設計転向角・マッハ数を違えた四種の自由うず流式翼列の二次元翼列実験を行い, 流入マッハ数と背圧による翼列特性の変化, 設計転向角・マッハ数と性能の関係など翼列性能の全般を明らかにした.

As smart phones become more complex, higher in performance and smaller in size, heat concentration at localized areas is becoming a problem. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to examine the effect of high thermal conductive materials for heat dissipation in order to solve this problem. The thermal conductivity of the outer case of the smart phone was changed using finite element method (FEM) to simulate high thermal conductive materials or composite materials with anisotropy. The maximum temperature gradually decreased and the minimum temperature gradually increased with increasing the thermal conductivity of the outer case. Moreover, the thermal conductivity in the longer direction of the smart phone was important for lowering the maximum temperature. In this paper, it is found that applying high thermal conductive materials to the outer case is effective for uniforming the heat dispersing.

The surfaces of many industrial products, such as a holl drill, gas turbine engine and so on, are coated with diamond and ceramic material for improving the material properties.On the other hand, the surface may accumulate an oxidation layer by reaction of oxygen with inceasing time.These Common damage, in service, is "delamination".It is known that the delamiation will be caused by compressive stress in these coating layer which is generated by vibration and fatigue loading for industrial coating, and volume expansion for oxidation.The actual coating delamination process as follow had been clarified by many studies.The coating layer is buckled locally by compressive loadingand is then delaminated along the substrate.The aim of this study is to clarify the coating delamination mechanism under compressive stress by observing continuously buckling and delaminating process in the coating layer, which is modelled by engineering plastic in this study. The delamination evaluation method is proposed based on an interface mechanics, and an accuracy of the evaluation is examined using finite element analysis.Finally, the proposed evaluation are applied to the experimental results obtained by this study.

Intelligent Multi-Mode Transit System ("IMTS") based on fully automated Bus has been developed as the medium-scale transit system as the next generation transport system. Functional features of IMTS are summarized to the advanced lane guidance without the guide rail, the platooning formed by the electronic vehicle link and the collision avoidance emphasized by ITS technologies. The system configuration of IMTS, vehicle control technologies are described in this paper.

BTM (Belt Type Transit System by Magnet) has timing belts at whose surface permanent magnet devices are fitted. It uses magnetic attraction-force to steel beam for driving force. As this force is more powerful than adhesion force between wheel and rail, it is possible that BTM runs at steep slope like 30 degrees. This paper describes design policy and experiment results of BTM, concerning structure of belt, method of driving, brake system and automatic operation.

In this study, Judo and American Football (AF) are spotlighted as typical physical contact sports that concussion or subdural hematoma could happen during a play. In Judo, "waza" to cause a risk to hit a head on a tatami were performed by Judo players and recorded by VICON system and the motions were reconstructed by MADYMO by using VICON data and kinetic data and hit part were generated. In Americal football, the moment of concussion was reconstructed by MADYMO by observing the accident data in real play recorded on a video and kinetic data and hit pat were generated. In both cases the strain and stress of the brain tissue were calculated in detail by the FE human head model and injury risk was predicted, respectively.

Thermoacoustic refrigeration is a very attractive method of temperature control due to its environment friendliness. The thermoacoustic heat pumping occurs within a regenerator positioned in the thermoacoustic device. The acoustic field within the device consists of acoustic travelling waves propagating in positive and negative directions and as such, the regenerator temperature gradient will be influenced by both. To investigate the effect of these individual travelling waves, we constructed a thermoacoustic device consisting using two opposite facing speakers thus enabling manipulation of positive and negative direction travelling waves. By decomposing the measured acoustic field into its positive and negative propagating components and calculating the acoustic power using the two sensor method, the effect of the individual travelling waves on the direction of acoustic power and regenerator temperature gradient was observed.

We have constructed and tested a shell and tube heat exchanger with a dual speaker thermoacoustic device. We have tested a shell and tube heat exchanger by changing the phase between two speakers at both ends of the device. Five thermocouples are positioned within the regenerator and inlet and outlet water temperature were measured with two other thermocouples. Two pressure sensors are positioned each side of the device along the regenerator. We have measured the regenerator temperature and pressure at both sides of the regenerator with changing the mass flow rate of coolant water. The temperature distribution of regenerator and the acoustic power were gained from measured values.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect on back load during lifting movement by varying lower limb and trunk posture. Seven subjects performed lifting movements with four conditions, using two foot positions (Odeg, 60deg), and two trunk postures (Neutral, Stoop). 3D kinematics and kinetics data were recorded. Significant decreases in peak right bending angle at L4/L5 and T9/T10 joint were found when subjects rotate right hip joint externally. Stoop posture decreases peak joint reaction force for pelvis longitudinal axis but increases peak left bending toque. To perform lifting movement safely, it is recommended that you rotate hip joint externally and keep trunk neutrally.

A numerical simulation technique of creature's flow was proposed on the basis of molecular dynamics method. Creatures, such as humans, fishes, bird and so on, usually move in a cluster or crowd. Features of crowd's behavior were discussed from the point of fluid dynamical view. The motivation of its motion was classified into a several categories due to intelligent level. In the present report, three primitive categories were taken into the consideration. In order to express a suitable individual potential, directional and influence functions were introduced to with a dependency of creature's view angle. Macroscopic quantities of state such as temperature, density, and pressure of the crowd were defined for a local region in the creature flow. An interaction between two intellectual particles and crossing flows between two crowds were simulated and discussed in detail.

We have been developing motor-tendon-joint series connection type biomimetic soft actuators to make robots act jumping, running and dancing like animals. We developed an artificial silicone rubber tendon structure for the robot to mimic animal's muscular-skeletal structure. In the previous paper, we added an auxiliary motor to the one-axis jumping actuator to suppress the vibration at a fixed angle control. The vibration can be reduced by nipping between the main motor and the auxiliary motor. The experimental results of this actuator, however, showed that this structure had structural defects that the nipping force was restricted by the torque of the smaller motor at a fixed angle control stage, and the jumping force was also restricted by the movement of the slower motor. As a result, the jumping height of this actuator was decreased. In this paper, we newly developed an actuator mounted with the same twin motor to solve this problem. We used twin 200W DC coreless motors for the new actuator. The experimental results showed that we have succeeded in improving the simple jumping height up to 260 mm. It was, however, not possible to show the effectiveness of the tendon structure by bending and stretching jumping experiment. We are now creating a simulator of this actuator to investigate how to effectively utilize the tendon structure.

We propose a wearable line-of-sight detection system that utilizes micro-fabricated transparent optical sensors on eyeglasses. These sensors can detect the difference of reflection light intensity between white of eye and pupil. Up until now, we successfully have detected all directions which based on 4 directions (up, down, right, left and), blink by using the proposed system. Our system showed experimentally that the error is as small as 1.5°. In order to develop practical application of our system, we improved our system to detect more precise conditions: open eye, blink, close eye. We finally devised an algorithm which converts these 3 conditions to the input signals.
