A leg-wheel robot has mechanically separated four legs and two wheels, and it performs high mobility and stability on rough terrains. In this paper, the strategy for the leg-wheel robot moving over large rough terrains is described. First, topographical features are classified for the large rough terrain movement. They are classified into 13 patterns by the combination of terrain surfaces. In order to move over all classified terrains, three gaits are proposed as adaptive gait for large rough terrain. Those three gaits are as follows: 1. Gait for an upward step: the forefoot landing point is higher than contact points with the ground of wheels, and the robot raises the body toward the forefoot landing point. 2. Gait for a downward step: the forefoot landing point is lower than contact points with the ground of wheels, and the robot lowers the body toward the forefoot landing point. 3. Gait for getting over an obstacle: the forefoot landing point is not higher than contact points with the ground of wheels, but the robot raises the body as high as possible.

In order to investigate the effect of a hybrid system applied to rolling stock, it was evaluated to compare the fuel consumption of the existing confidential diesel railcars and diesel railcars of series and parallel hybrid systems with various batteries by running simulation. The hybrid railcars are powered by both diesel engines and electric batteries which can be stored the braking energy. Result of simulations, it was found that the maximum effect of fuel consumotion is 26% with Ni-MH battery in parallel hybrid system in main line operation at Takayama line and 33% in local line operation at Taketoyo line.

In the Keihanna line of Kintetsu Corporation opened for service this spring, we have developed and introduced a remote monitoring and control system for automatic fare collection equipment and other station equipment such as elevators, escalators etc., in order to reduce railway station duties. This system uses the network camera product and is applying the VoIP technology, and data streams of video, voice and control are integrated in digital form and transmitted on the IP network, so the system can be simply constructed. And the consoles are placed at two centers and six stations, so remote operation is available from every station, as well as from center.

This paper investigates a calibration method of 6 DOF acceleration sensor system using multiple linear accelerometers. So far, it has been considered that a set of 6 DOF acceleration data is to be essential to its calibration. In this accelerometer system, 6 DOF acceleration can be resolved using the geometrical condition of 6 linear accelerometers. Therefore, the measurement error results from the alignment error of the 6 linear accelerometers. And so, we analyze the alignment error and give a caribration method to identify the error only using some limited linear accelerations (acceleration of gravity). This paper discusses its calibration method with experiments for our prototype 6 DOF accelerometer. The results show that the calibration using limited data is possible and has good performance.

二物体の接触状態におけるおのおのの運動方程式は接触力を表面力と同様に扱う仮想仕事の原理に基づくFEMによって導かれる. さらに接触力成分を除去するため, 各運動方程式を結合することによって接触運動方程式を公式化し, この接触運動方程式を2個の等断面棒の縦衝突応力解析に適用した. 計算結果は周期的に変動するが, これらの平均値は一次元理論の結果に一致する. 本解析法は動的弾性接触問題に適用できることが認められる.

Schizophrenic patients have abnormal sense of agency. The patients experiencing passivity phenomena believe their thoughts and actions to be those of external or alien entities. In this study, the authors propose method for simulating the cognitive deficit in schizophrenia whose data are comparable to the experimental data. We proposed the efferent copy activation and comparator inhibition model describes under-attribution and over-attribution in schizophrenic subjects. The output of this functional model is mapped onto the corresponding brain area based on Talairach atlas. The simulation results of this study well describe the experimental results of a schizophrenic cerebral pattern of activation.

羽根車のような曲面部の多い複雑な形状の構造物の応力解析を高精度かつ短時間で行えるようにするために,三次元局面要素と周期境界条件を用いた有限要素法プログラムを開発した.本プログラムをはり,円板,ターボ圧縮機光弾性モデル羽根車などに適用し,理論解,他のプログラムによる解,三次元光弾性による実験値と比較した.その結果,本プログラムの要素が高精度であり,しかも計算時間が大幅に短縮されたことがわかり,プログラムの実用性が確認された.

This paper describes a new optical switch based on MEMS techniques. This comprises two plates which have many electrodes on its surface and belt-shaped thin film mirrors which are put between the plates. The shape of the mirror is deformed by electrostatic force and the optical path is controlled. The switch has a simple structure and basically easy to assemble. It is easy to change a optical path greatly by a relatively small stress to act on the mirror. The pates and the mirror are made by MEMS techniques. In this paper, the principle of the optical switch is introduced and the behavior of the experimental switch is confirmed.

The Laplace transformation is known as one of the most powerful mathematical techniques for solving wide range of problems in engineering. For its application to practical problems, many authors have extensively studied methods of numerical inversion. On the other hand, the method of numerical transformation has not been studied very much. For this reason, most of the applications were limited to theoretical or numerical analysis and there were few applications to experimental analysis. To overcome this problem, both of the numerical transformation and inversion are studied in this paper. Numerical accuracy is evaluated and discussed using two test functions, sinusoidal and step function. A chart is presented for determining the parameters of computation under a specified accuracy.

In the cafeterias, the flow of people not only becomes important factor of congestion, but also greatly influences their profits. To examine the solution for the people congestion, modifying the layout, evaluating the effects of changes, and finding the improvement ways need to be iterated again and again. However, we have attempted to solve this problem using simulation from view of time, cost, and avoidance of risk. In our research, as a subject, we took up a cafeteria where some congestion was observed, then analyzed the flow of people and built the simulation model. This paper reports the analysis of this cafeteria, and introduces each module of simulation model we have developed.

In the cafeterias, the flow of people not only becomes important factor of congestion, but also greatly influences their profits. We have attempted to solve this problem using simulation. In our research, we took up a cafeteria where some congestion was observed as a subject to analyze the flow of people. This paper introduces overview of the simulation using simulation model which is built from this analysis. Evaluation of the simulation performed with the use of this simulation model and its result also are reported. And then, we describe the consideration about the solution which was obtained as countermeasure of congestion relief.
