琉球の歴代王統は,神話時代にあたる天孫氏時代を除外すると,舜天王統以降,英祖王統,察度王統,第一尚氏王統,第ニ尚氏王統と統いた。これらの王統のうち,本橋では察度王統の始祖である察度とその子孫をめぐる伝説を中心として扱った。在位時に多くの業績を残した察度も晩年には権勢におごる心が生じたというが,察度の世子武寧は父の死後即位してから日夜気ままに遊び暮らし,尚思紹・尚巴志父子に滅ぼされたという。琉球の正史には,武寧に関して,隠遁後の足跡も没年も伝わっていないと記してあるが,興味深いことに,宜野湾市我如古地区には,武寧の子をめぐる伝説が伝えられている。土地の伝承では,「武寧王の三男」とされる「我如古大主」が我如古地区にやってきて我如古グスクを築城し,その築城の際のお祝いの踊りが「我如古スンサーミー」であったという。本稿は,新たに採集した□承資料などの検討を通して,察度王統の始祖察度の子孫をめぐる伝説の全体像をまとめ,残存資料の少ない琉球王朝始祖伝説の一側面を考察した。

The 19th century U. S. federal system, as a whole, has been described as dual federalism, within which the relationship between the federal government and state governments tended to be antagonistic or competitive. However, a cooperative relationship across states between these two governments with respect to specific national policies had been operating in the early republic. The well known Henry Clay's American System, which formulated an integrated national economic program in the 1820s, may be used to illustrate this relationship. The practical operation of the federal system has undergone many changes over time and in relation to policy changes. This paper analyzes the national internal improvement policies under the General Survey Act of 1824, which constituted a major element of the American System, and examines the reality of the American federal system in the era of the American System of the 1820s. By way of conclusion, it argues that the policies of the American System did not necessarily generate centripetal force empowering the federal government but, rather, that they strengthened competition between states, and intensified sectionalism, with the realignment of the modern party system.

1. 序2. デカルトと幻影肢3. ヘッドの「図式」による幻影の解明4. シルダーの「身体像」5. 考察と結論The purpose of this essay is to clarify the way in which consciousness localizes sensations, through an interpretation of a pathological phenomenom, the phenomenon of phantom limb. We compare Descartes' classic theory about 'the phantom limb' and localization of sensations with the modern psycho-physio-logical theories by H. Head and P. Schilder which insist on the importance of 'body-schema' for localization and body-movement or action as essential factors for the formation of the schema. Their studies show that the phantom limb is a 'habitual body' which the patient continues to hold in spite of the loss of his limb. According to Head and Schilder, consciousness localizes sensations through its own whole body which acts and moves, not only through its immovable brain. Finally, we conclude that the space is not only an object of perception, but is also related to body-movement or action, and that phenomenal or subjective space is sustained by objective space through actions and body-movements.

Background An optical plankton counter (OPC) was used to examine spatial and temporal changes in the zooplankton size spectra in the neighboring waters of Japan from May to August 2011. Results Based on the zooplankton biovolume of equivalent spherical diameter (ESD) in 45 bins for every 0.1 mm between 0.5 and 5.0 mm, a Bray-Curtis cluster analysis classified the zooplankton communities into six groups. The geographical distribution of each group varied from each of the others. Groups with a dominance of 4 to 5 mm ESD were observed in northern marginal seas (northern Japan Sea and Okhotsk Sea), while the least biovolume with a dominance of a small-size class (0.5 to 1 mm) was observed for the Kuroshio extension. Temporal changes were observed along the 155° E line, i.e., a high biovolume group dominated by 2 to 3 mm ESD during May shifted to other size spectra groups during July to August. These temporal changes were caused by the seasonal vertical descent of dominant large Neocalanus copepods during July to August. As a specific characteristic of the normalized biomass size spectra (NBSS), the slope of NBSS was moderate (−0.90) for the Neocalanus dominant spring group but was at −1.11 to −1.24 for the other groups. Theoretically, the slope of the NBSS of the stable marine ecosystem is known to settle at approximately −1. Conclusions Based on the analysis by OPC, zooplankton size spectra in the neighboring waters of Japan were separated into six groups. Most groups had −1.11 to −1.24 NBSS slopes, which were slightly higher than the theoretical value (−1). However, one group had a moderate slope of NBSS (−0.90) caused by the dominance of large Neocalanus copepods.
