「パソコンのキーボードのキーの配列が不自然だと思ったことはありませんか」 から始まる読売新聞記事 (2015年3月2日) に反論を試みた.記事のごく一部は訂正されたものの,反論の大部分は徒労に終わり,「連続して打つ頻度の高い文字を遠ざける並び方に変えた」 というガセネタが,再々流布される結果となった.このような局面において,人文情報学に何ができるのか,問題提起と考察を試みる.

約7年前に, 猫においてワクチン接種が原因として発生する線維肉腫についてレポートされ, この線維肉腫はワクチン接種後肉腫といわれた。この腫瘍は狂犬病ウイルスワクチン接種部及び猫白血病ウイルスワクチン接種部に発生するが, それだけではなく猫3種混合ワクチン接種部にも発生する。ワクチン接種後肉腫の好発部位は頸背部及び肩甲間であり, そしてこの部分は一般的にワクチンを接種する部分でもある。猫線維肉腫は皮膚及び皮下に発生する一般的な肉腫である。しかし, ワクチン接種部外に生ずる線維肉腫の場合, その発生部はほとんどが指趾及び頭部である。本症例はワクチン接種を行った肩甲間の皮下及び筋肉部分に発生した肉腫であり, 本レポートは3種混合ワクチン接種後に発生したワクチン接種後肉腫の本邦初のレポートである。

Stochastic Resonance (SR)とは、通常は検出できない雑音に埋れた弱い周期信号を、非線形な素子を用いることで、むしろ雑音の助けを借りて検出する現象である。神経学の分野でもF.Moss等によって、ザリガニの水流感覚器に小さな周期信号とともに閾値に近い大きい雑音を人工的に加えて、SRの起こることが報告されている。実際の感覚神経が小さな周期信号を検出するとき、外部にこのように大きな雑音が共存するとは限らない。今回私達は、コオロギの気流感覚器では感覚神経細胞内部に雑音源を持ち、内部雑音のみで外部の周期信号とSRを起こして、検出感度を高めていることを、Hodgkin-Huxley方程式を用いたシミュレーションとともに示す。

本稿は英語科3年分割授業のひとつ,レギュラーコースにおけるここ数年の実践に関する報告である。本コースのねらいは学習指導要領にも書かれている「実践的コミュニケーション能力の伸長」である。歌や英字新聞などを教材として取り上げ,「生きた」英語をインプットすることにより,英語圏の文化や習慣に触れる機会を提供してきた。同時にコース内での生徒の発表を通じて,お互いの考えを「伝え合う」という姿勢を育ててきた。一年間の授業のまとめとして「英語新聞作り」に取り組ませたが,苦労しながらも自分の考えを英語で表現し新聞の形に完成させたとき,生徒は満足感を味わい,英語に積極的に取り組む姿勢をみせた。英語学習に対する生徒の心理的側面に焦点を当てて工夫をしてきた結果,英語によるコミュニケーションに対する生徒の動機付けという点において,レギュラーコースは大きな成果を上げたと確信している。今後は,英語母語話者との話し合いの機会を設定するなど,いくつかの課題を検討していきたい。

〔目的〕本研究は訪問リハにおけるPT・OTによる協業の必要性を明らかにすることを目的とした。〔対象〕都内で訪問リハ実施施設に勤務するPT,OT,同施設の利用者とした。〔方法〕郵送による利用者ニーズとPT・OTの専門性に関するアンケート調査とした。〔結果〕利用者のニーズは歩行や機能障害が上位に,ADLや趣味活動が下位に挙がった。またPTは下肢・体幹の機能,歩行,起居動作,呼吸を,OTはADL,趣味に関する項目を専門と回答した。PT・OTは協業の必要性を感じていたが,多くの施設で協業の明確なルールを定めていなかった。〔結語〕安全で質の高い訪問リハを提供するためには,専門能力を活かす協業が必要である。

Beginning in 2012, judo has been selected to be a compulsory course in junior high schools in Japan. However, the number of participants, in particular beginners, who die or are injured in judo is higher than that for other sports. For this reason, there is a fear that there will be a drastic increase in the number of judo-related accidents leading to death or injury in junior high schools. The most serious form of head injury is acute subdural hematoma (ASDH). The purpose of the present study is to compare ASDH occurrence indices and to evaluate the effectiveness of using head protectors. Based on measurements of head acceleration during falling, the Head Injury Criterion (HIC), maximum angular acceleration and angular velocity variation range were calculated. The results indicated that the relative displacement between the brain and skull was most strongly correlated with the angular velocity variation range, which is thus a candidate evaluation index for ASDH. The results also suggest that in order to prevent ASDH, a head protector should be made of shock absorbing materials with a small coefficient of restitution, so as to reduce the rebound velocity of the skull after occipital impact.

The satellite observation of clouds has been contributing to meteorology and climate change science for more than 50 years. Remote sensing techniques have been developed and improved to obtain quantitative data regarding cloud properties. Quantitative estimation of cloud physical parameters depends on the observation technique used, and even basic cloud properties such as cloud amount and top height are different according to the technique. Therefore, to use the obtained data it is necessary to understand the principle of observation. Active remote sensing provides vertical profiles of clouds, although the coverage is limited to the nadir of the satellite orbit. On the other hand, passive remote sensing with a radiometer can scan a wide swath. The combination of these two sensors produces valuable information on the cloud, as well as on the use of multi-wavelength measurements. A comparison of satellite remote sensing with results of numerical simulation, and data assimilation of satellite data are powerful methods for advancing the understanding of cloud properties, which then impacts meteorology and climate change science.

[Purpose] The aim of this study was to compare the effects of Wii Fit balance training (WBT) and progressive balance training (PBT) approaches on balance functions, balance confidence, and activities of daily living in chronic stroke patients. [Subjects] A total of 30 patients were randomized into the WBT (n=15) and PBT (n=15) groups. [Methods] All of the subjects received exercise training based on a neurodevelopemental approach in addition to either Wii Fit or progressive balance training for total of 1 hour a day, 3 days per week for 4 weeks. Primary measurements were static balance function measured with a Wii Balance Board and dynamic balance function assessed with the Berg Balance Scale, Timed Up and Go test, Dynamic Gait Index, and Functional Reach Test. Secondary measures were balance confidence assessed with the Activities-specific Balance Confidence scale and activities of daily living evaluated with the Frenchay Activity Index. [Results] There was not remarkable difference between the two treatments in dynamic balance functions, balance confidence, and activities of daily living. [Conclusion] Although both of the approaches were found to be effective in improving the balance functions, balance confidence, and activities of daily living, neither of them were more preferable than the other for the treatment of balance in patients with chronic stroke.

コンピュータ上に構築した3次元の仮想都市空間内に仮想人間を導入するための仕組みを提案し,都市空間を構成する物体を効果的に管理する手法を開発した.本稿では仮想人間の動作を付与する仕組みを提案し,インデックスに基づくデータベースを用いてすべての情報を管理する具体的な仕組みについて述べる.提案手法を実現するにあたりインターネットを通して操作可能なインターフェースからなるシステムを構築した.これによりコンテンツ作成者や利用者は容易に都市空間を構築・体験することが可能となる.また構築したシステムの応用として空間内のキャラクタを主人公としたドラマ化手法を開発し,コンテンツを製作したのでここに報告する.
