モリエールはフランス17世紀を代表する喜劇作家として知られているが、彼の青年時代については2つの喜劇と2つの笑劇、いくつかの公正証書類以外ほとんど資料が残されていない。20代から30代前半の、役者としても作家としでも貴重な時期をどのように過ごしたかを知ることは、後の傑作を知る上でも重要なことといえる。一方、モリエールが創始者ともいわれる「コメディー・バレエ」は、パリ時代に数多く書かれ、晩年の喜劇作品では、台詞そのものが音楽性の高いものといわれている。モリエールの作品を論じる場合、このようにコメディー・バレエという新しいジャンルを抜きにすることはできない。モリエールは巡業時代に、コメディー・バレエとしての作品を残していないが、『相いれないもののバレエ』と呼ばれる作品の上演に関わった。このバレエはモンペリエの貴族たちの余興の一環として作られたもので、今日的意味で重要性に乏しい作品ともいえるが、言葉のない空間を駆使した作品であるがゆえに、役者モリエールにとってもまた喜劇作家モリエールにとっても意味のある作品であったと考えられる。

U.S. studies on parental involvement (PI) indicate that parenting practices vary by families' socioeconomic status (SES) (e.g., Lareau 2003) and that different degrees of PI differentiate students' academic achievement (e.g., Hill and Tyson 2009); PI differences based on parents' SES are considered one source of the achievement gap. While some scholars (e.g., Honda 2008) address this critical topic in Japanese society, existing studies using regional and/or retrospective data without a rigorous indicator of students' academic abilities fall short of investigating relationships between students' family SES, the degree of PI, and their achievement at one of the most important stages of education: compulsory education. This study is therefore intended to empirically investigate these relationships by analyzing nationally representative data of Japanese eighth-grade students. This study's results indicate that (1) higher SES parents tend to more frequently ask their children what they study in school; (2) the school-level PI indicator is not equally distributed socioeconomically, and School SES relates to the degree of PI in school activities; and (3) the degree of PI and school PI in school activities are associated with students' mathematics achievement. Contrary to expectations, however, PI mediates small parts of SES effects, especially at the student level; only some of the relationships between SES, PI, and achievement are verified empirically.

リサイクル緑化工法により,現地採取種子を用い大保ダム建設工事 (付替村道) において施工した法面緑化について,施工後5年3ヶ月を経過した時点での植生状況・生育基盤状況を報告する。また,当施工において生育基盤材料として用いた未完熟チップ材に関する追跡調査結果と,同様に施工された全国の事例における生育基盤状況調査結果との比較を行い,C/N比の推移や植生への影響などについてあわせて報告する。

Previous researches indicate that foreign direct investment (FDI) by Japanese manufacturing industries promotes domestic investment because it induces import of intermediate goods from domestic parent to their foreign affiliated firms. However, after the early 2000s, foreign affiliated firms of Japanese manufacturing industries have decreased import from domestic parent firms by having increased local procurement. In other words, they have changed vertical FDI into horizontal one. We empirically investigate how the relationship between FDI and domestic investment has changed from fiscal year 2001 to 2012 using semi-macro data aggregated by manufacturing industries. Our results are summarized as follows. In the case of whole manufacturing industry, the positive effect of FDI on domestic investment in the latest period is significantly smaller than in the former periods. On the other hand, in the cases of the transportation equipment industry and the electrical machinery industry, the effect of FDI on domestic investment has become smaller during our analysis period, but a decline in the effect is not statistically significant.

Treated sewage is a promising source of nitrogen and phosphorus in microalgae biomass production for carbon-neutral biofuel and chemical products. In this study, Chlorella vulgaris was continuously cultivated in membrane photobioreactors (MPBRs) under short hydraulic retention times (HRTs) and with different numbers of submerged membrane modules to investigate potential microalgae productivity when treated sewage was used as a nutrient source. Microalgae biomass concentrations were independent of HRT in MPBRs with one membrane module owing to microalgae biomass deposition on the membrane. Installation of an additional submerged membrane module effectively reduced deposition on the submerged membrane, resulting in increased microalgae biomass concentration and volumetric productivity. Growth kinetics suggested that HRT is the essential parameter influencing the volumetric productivity of microalgae under nutrient-limited conditions, and that optimization of the biomass concentration, which depends on the surface/volume ratio of the photobioreactor and initial light intensity, is critical to maximization of the volumetric productivity under light-limited conditions.
