The sex of triploid ginbuna (Carassius auratus langsdorfii) are all females, reproducing gynogenetically. The artificial sex reversal was carried out successfully by the oral treatment of methylteststeron for two months after hatching out. In the sex reversed triploid ginbuna, the processes of spermatogenesis from spermatogonia to the primary spermatocyte was similar with diploid males. But thereafter though in the diploid male two different types of nuclear plate in diameter were observed, in the triploid ginbuna it was observed only the same diameter of nuclear plate. From these observations, it was concluded that the first maturation division might be omitted in these males as in females. Further, the triploid males produced the unequal diameter and DNA contents of sperms. This might be caused by unequal nuclear division during meiosis. Artificial insemination of triploid female with the sperm of sex reversed triploid male, resulted in the all triploid females. The sperm of triploid male might be possess the ability to activate the egg of triploid female gynogenetically.

ロールシャッハ・テストに関する現象学風の解釈可能性を提示したものである。この種の試みはあまり例がなく、とくに「代替可能な視点」を提供する哲学的議論を具体的な臨床現場との接点において導入する試みとしては評価できる。しかし、設定した問題(辻(1997)の批判的解釈)の短い射程内に留まっており、原著作の具体的問題点の提示と解決、論文自身の立っている立場や導入している議論の広範囲への展開可能性についての表明が希薄であり、議論の内在的な発展が望まれる。

症例は33歳男性.心窩部痛を主訴に来院.上部消化管内視鏡検査にて胃および十二指腸粘膜のびらん,浮腫を指摘され入院となった.入院経過中に,胃十二指腸炎の増悪を認めた.血清抗サイトメガロウイルス(以下CMV)抗体価の上昇と,胃粘膜生検組織にて核内封入体を認め,CMV胃十二指腸炎と診断した.健常成人のCMV感染症において,胃のみならず十二指腸まで病変を認める例は極めてまれであると考え報告する.

In the present study, we investigated the effects of type 2 diabetes-induced hyperglycemia on the integrity of the blood–brain barrier and tight junction markers in the rat hippocampus. Forty-week-old diabetic (Zucker diabetic fatty, ZDF) rats and littermate control (Zucker lean control, ZLC) rats were used in this study. We evaluated the integrity of the blood–brain barrier by measuring sodium fluorescein extravasation and blood vessel ultrastructure. In addition, tight junction markers, such as zona occludens-1, occludin and claudin-5, were quantified by western blot analysis. ZDF rats showed significantly increased sodium fluorescein leakage in the hippocampus. Tight junction markers, such as occludin and claudin-5, were significantly decreased in the hippocampi of ZDF rats compared to those of ZLC rats. In addition, ZDF rats showed ultrastructural changes with phagocytic findings in the blood vessels. These results suggest that chronic untreated diabetes impairs the permeability of the hippocampal blood–brain barrier by down-regulating occludin and claudin-5, indicating that chronic untreated diabetes may cause hippocampus-dependent dysfunction.

Berberine is one of the main alkaloids of Rhizoma coptidis which has been used as a folk medicine to treat diabetes mellitus for more than 1400 years in China. To investigate the chronic effect of berberine on diabetic hyperlipidemic rats, fasted rats were intraperitoneally injected 35 mg/kg streptozotocin. Diabetic rats were admitted after 2 weeks and given a high-carbohydrate/high-fat diet to induce hyperlipidemia. The rats were divided into 7 groups at the end of week 16: normal and diabetic rats received no drug, 5 treatment groups were administered with either 75, 150, 300 mg/kg berberine, 100 mg/kg fenofibrate or 4 mg/kg rosiglitazone per day for 16 weeks, respectively. The blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c, lipid metabolic parameters and hepatic glycogen and triglyceride were measured, and histopathology and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) α/δ/γ expression of liver were determined by hematoxylin eosin and immunohistochemical staining. Berberine reduced diabetic rats' body weight, liver weight and liver to body weight ratio. Berberine restored the increased blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c, total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein-cholesterol, apolipoprotein B and the decreased high density lipoprotein-cholesterol, apolipoprotein AI levels in diabetic rats to near the control ones. Berberine alleviated the pathological progression of liver and reverted the increased hepatic glycogen and triglyceride to near the control levels. Berberine increased PPARα/δ expression and reduced PPARγ expression in liver of diabetic rat to near the control ones. Berberine improved glucolipid metabolism both in blood and liver in diabetic rats possibly through modulating the metabolic related PPARα/δ/γ protein expression in liver.

Recently, it is implicated that the abnormality of Akt signaling pathway is involved in the diabetic pathology. Previous studies have demonstrated that berberine could decrease blood glucose by elevating liver glycogen synthesis. However, the underlying mechanism is still unclear. In the present study, we investigated the effects of berberine on fasting blood glucose, liver glycogen, Akt, Glycogen synthase kinase-3, glucokinase and insulin receptor substrate (IRS) in alloxan-induced diabetic mice, exploring its possible hypoglycemic mechanism. We found that in alloxan-induced diabetic mice, the high blood glucose was significantly lowered by berberine treatment. Liver glycogen content, the expression and activity of glucokinase and the phosphorylated Akt and IRS were all significantly reduced in diabetic mice whereas berberine blocked these changes. Berberine also depressed the increasing of phosphorylated GSK-3β in diabetic mice. Collectively, Berberine upregulates the activity of Akt possibly via insulin signaling pathway, eventually lowering high blood glucose in alloxan-induced diabetic mice.
