スポーツクレー射撃時の衝撃音が射手に与える影響について検討するために, 衝撃音測定用のダミー人形装置 (KEMAR) を用いて衝撃音を測定し, 63名のクレー射手を対象に純音聴力検査と質問紙調査を実施した。 1) 衝撃音のピーク音圧は約155dBで, 2msec前後にピークをもち, 約50msecで減衰した。 2) 銃口側耳と反対側耳間にピーク音圧差が認められ, 耳介の集音作用が考えられた。 3) 音響外傷予防用具の遮音効果についてはイヤープラグとイヤーマフの併用, イヤープラグ, イヤーバルブ, イヤーマフの順であった。 4) 高音域で明らかな高音急墜ないしC5 dipを示した異常群は非異常群に比べ平均年齢が高く, 平均経験年数が長く, 予防用具使用率が低率を示した。 音響外傷予防用具は遮音に効果的で, 予防用具の必要性と適切な使用法についての今後の一層の普及, 使用率の向上が望まれる。

Two wood trunks, one charred and 75 years old and the other not charred and more than 199 years old, were collected from Hayakawa ignimbrite of Niigata Yakeyama Volcano. They were investigated using the radiocarbon wiggle-matching method to determine the age of the eruption. The result was 1225-1244 cal AD (95.4%), which is over 200 years younger than previous estimates. The eruption, including the Hayakawa ignimbrite, was the largest during the volcano's life period of 3000 years. Co-ignimbrite fallout KGc ash has been found at many archaeological sites spreading on the eastern flanks of Myoko Volcano and the Takada Plain. The age obtained here will provide a useful time constraint for archaeologists and volcanologists studying this area.

著者らは独自に開発した装置を用いてヤギ胎仔の長時間子宮外保育を試みてきた.すなわち,帝王切開で娩出したヤギ胎仔の臍帯血管にカテーテルを挿入し,ECMO(Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)回路に接続する.胎仔は人工羊水中に置かれ,胎児循環を保持し,低酸素環境下で保育される.これまでの著者らの成績では10日間の保育が限度で,慢性循環不全を主たる原因として死亡しており,保育状況・期間ともに不満足であった.最近著者らは胎仔の体内環境の変動をできるだけ少なくし,水分貯留傾向と関係すると思われる飲水行動を抑制する目的で子宮外保育期間中,胎仔にminor tranquilizerと筋弛緩剤を投与した.その結果,保育期間中,胎仔の状態は極めて安定しており,水分貯留傾向も認められず,約20日間というこれまでにない長期間保育に成功した.さらに,子宮外保育からの離脱を試みたところ,レスピレーターによる人工換気は必要としたものの良好な換気が得られ,保育期間中に肺の機能的成熟が進行したことも確認できた.以上により,臍帯動静脈A-VEC MOが未熟動物の長期にわたる保育法として有効であることが証明されたが,長期間の体動抑制による未熟動物の筋力の発達成熟におよぼす影響などの解決すべき問題があり,正常新生仔への移行にはさらなる改善が必要である.

子どもが自殺したという報道に接すると,大人は何ともやりきれない思いにとらわれる。前途に多くの可能性が広がっているはずの若い命が自ら死を選んだことに対して,「何も早まらなくても」という無念の思い,「何が自殺に追いやったのか」という疑念や憤りを抑えられない。これらは,子どもの自殺に接した際の感情としてはごく当たり前の,自然なものと見なされる。しかしこれを子ども以外の-すなわち大人の-自殺や,子どものその他の逸脱行動-例えば暴力や性非行-に対する感情と比べてみると,こうした感情が「子どもの」「自殺」であることによって導かれていることがわかる。そしてその基盤には,子どもという存在と自殺という行為,及び両者の結びつきについて我々が前提している意味づけや論理があり,それが我々の反応を方向づけているのである。そこで,子どもの自殺に対して我々が自明視している前提を抽出し,それが個々の,或いは多発する自殺に対して適用されることによって自殺が持たされることになる「社会的意味」のあり方について検討する。

We studied the MRI finding of pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVS) in the knee joints of two patients. Diffuse nodular lesions of PVS were typically shown as a low intensity area, on both T1 and T2 weingted MRI. High intensity areas on T2 were intermingled within the lesions.MRI revealed not only the lesions in the joint space but also osseous lesions in the medial, lateral and posterior condyles of the femur and the intercondylar tubercle of the tibia. These results suggest that PVS invades bones from the capsular or ligamentous attachments.

Primary total hip arthroplasties were performed on 74 hips between 1998 and2001 at our hospital. We used the Hardinge approach on 36 hips of patients whose age ranged from 46 to 80 years (mean : 63.2 years) and Dall approach on 38 hips of patients whose age ranged from 43 to 76 years (mean : 60.2 years). Postoperative followup was carried out for over one year (mean : Hardinge 24.0 months,Dall 39.4 months).The results revealed trochanteric tenderness in 9 Hardinge hips and 4 Dall hips more than 12 months from operation. Radiological tests indicated abnormal assification in 13 Hardinge hips and seven Dall hips, and abnormal assification with trochanteric tenderness in seven Hardinge hips and one Dall hip during the same period.

A 55-year-old man fell down while inebriated and sustained a right clavicular fracture. He complained of paresthesia, paleness, coldness and parlalysis of his right arm. An expanding subcutaneous hematoma in the supraclavicular region was noted as well as radial artery pulsation at the right wrist.A rupture of the Subclavian artery was diagnosed without an angiogram and the middle part of the clavicle arteriogrhaphy was performed. Pulse deficit distal to the injury is one sign of Subclavian artery injury. However this is not altogether reliable because of good collateral circulation about the shoulder. There is no clear consensus as to which approach to the subclavian artery would give the best exposure and in particular control the proximal segment. For succesful management, proper surgical exposure and revascularization techniques are essential.

Radiocarbon wiggle matching method was applied for precise dating of a tephra which was designated asone of the important key beds for archaeology. The FA tephra is a pyroclastic deposit from the Shibukawaeruption of Haruna Volcano during the Kofun period of Japan. The age of FA has been investigated usingarchaeological remains and also historical records of Japan and China. It has been estimated roughly as early6th century. Three tumbled logs were found being buried in the tephra whose thickness was about 4 m. Thelogs were cut in many groups with five tree rings and every two groups were sampled for C measurement. Asthese trees were thought to have the same age from the occurrence,all data were used for wiggle matchinganalysis. The age of the outermost tree ring group is determined as AD 491-500(AD 497/+3/-6).

愛知県の中山間地域で栽培されているエマゴの内容成分と抗酸化性を調査した。種子、葉中のビタミン、ミネラル、ポリフェノール含量は栄養表示基準より高い値を示した。さらに、1、1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)ラジカル捕捉活性が高かった。エマゴを加工利用するときの前処理として、種子の風味を向上させる焙煎方法と葉を保存するための塩蔵、乾燥方法を検討した。種子の焙煎は180℃、5分間の加熱で最も風味が良く、焙煎後に機能性成分含量とDPPHラジカル捕捉活性の変化はなかった。一方、葉は塩蔵、乾燥後に機能性成分含量とDPPHラジカル捕捉活性が減少した。

This paper examines the influence of the Chinese monk Yongming Yanshou (904–975) on Japanese Pure Land thought, which flourished in Nara during the Insei period (1086–1185). Renowned Japanese Buddhist thinkers of the time, such as Yōkan (1033–1111) and Chinkai (1091–1152), who respectively authored the Ōjōjūin and Bodaishinshū, were informed by Yanshou’s writings.Yongming Yanshou was a disciple of Tiantai Deshao (891–972) and the third ancestor of the Fayan Chan lineage. Zen monks frequently cited Yanshou’s seminal text Zongjing lu, though he also was prominent as a patriarch of Pure Land teachings in Japan during the Heian period. The Shinshū ōjōden describes Yanshou as having achieved the highest of the nine grades of birth in the Pure Land. This story repeatedly appears in Chinkai’s Bodaishinshū, the Agui text Gensenshū, Kōfukuji sōjō, and other Buddhist writings. Yanshou’s legend circulated with the latest information that came from China in the Heian period. Here, I discuss the transmission of Yanshou’s teachings and legends from the Tōnan-in temple at Tōdai-ji and its impact on Pure Land Buddhism during this time.
