Recently, affordable desktop digital fabrication tools such as 3D printers and laser cutters, and design data sharing via the Internet have been maximizing the potential for personal production. The purpose of this study is to elucidate an overview of Fab Labs in Japan and the extent of their support for beginners in digital fabrication. We conducted field research at 8 Fab Labs in Japan, the first research of multiple Fab Labs conducted by an external research team. The research included site visits, interviews with the managers of Fab Labs, and observations of instructor-led lessons and “open labs”. Field research results showed the current state of difficulties for beginners, support activities for them, and knowledge sharing practice in Fab Labs in Japan. Regarding the first difficulty, “preparing design data”, instructor-led lessons and guidance on reuse of shared data appeared to be useful to them. Regarding the second difficulty, “developing a plan of work”, reference to work produced by others and sharing knowledge generally, provides hints for beginners. Communication amongst participants at the “open lab” was also recognized as a support for beginners.

This study examined the relationship of the human resources in the STEM field that were nurtured through school education with an analysis of the current state of the labor force in the STEM field in order to investigate the ideal way of STEM education in Japan. The results showed that the Japanese STEM human resources analyzed through a comparison with the United States accounted for about 6% of the labor force, which was about the same as that of the United States. In addition, the characteristics of the engineers included in Japan’s main STEM human resources showed that the number of information processing/communication engineers and medical engineers increased in recent years. Engineers who specialized in the humanities and science fields have also become important in addition to the human resources development of conventional engineering. Regarding STEM human resources in Japan from the viewpoint of human resource development, it was found that the development of engineers in specialized fields other than that of conventional engineering was added in an overlapping manner.

本研究課題では,探究と課題解決・デザイン活動を融合したSTEAM教育カリキュラムの考案,ならびに,STEAM教育教材の開発を行う.そして,DBR(Design Based Research)による実践授業と評価を行う.考案するSTEAM教育カリキュラムは,幼稚園,小学校,中学校,高校,高等専門学校,大学を対象とし,教科横断型でかつ文理融合的に統合した学びのフレームワークである.「探究型」の学びである理数系(理学系)科目,「課題解決型」の学びである技術・情報系(工学部系)科目,「デザイン型」の学びであるアート・ものづくり系(芸術系)科目を融合し,STEAM教育プログラムの事例を作成する.

本調査は、1998年から2000年にわたる3年間において、ウランバートル郊外とこれより約400km先の北部、東部などの地域における草地の生育状態と家畜の飼育状況について調査し、近年のモンゴル遊牧民の放牧方法と家畜生産を探った。その結果、社会主義体制時代までの遊牧民は放牧家畜の扱い方において、経験的調節と優れた視力などによる伝統的放牧方法で継承し、安定した家畜生産を行っていたと思われるが、市場経済体制の転換により、自由な放牧利用の過放牧が草原の牧養力を低下させ、冬季6-7ヵ月間で飼育家畜の体重が激減し、さらに旱魃、雪害が加わるとこれまでにない多くの家畜を斃死させていることが判明した。したがって今後は小麦の麦稈サイレージの調製、備蓄草地の適正利用方法とこれらの運搬に伴う道路整備、通信方法などのインフラの開発を行い、モンゴル全地域における冬季の飼料確保を検討する必要があると思われた。

The radiation shielding effects on the gamma ray with the effective energy Ee = 661.7 keV and X-rays with that of Ee = 74 keV and 38 keV were examined by using the tungsten-mesh (W-Mesh) made of the tungsten wires of 18μm and 50μm, as candidate for radiation shielding materials having breathability and flexibility. The results showed that the radiation shield rate “η” of W-Mesh sample material represented by mass “Ma” per unit area was almost the same value as in that of the tungsten plate and the lead plate, excepted for the irradiation of gamma-ray at the range under Ma = 1 kg/m2. The value of η at the region of less than Ma = 0.3 kg/m2 also transited to the negative range on the gamma ray irradiation. Therefore, we found that use of W-mesh in the region of Ma = 0.3 kg/m2 or below should be avoided.

Craft educational contents of vocation & homemaking and of arts & crafts at that time in lower secondary school were examined how to be introduced to industrial arts & homemaking, using the contents in a course of study and the materials (Suzuki Hisao/industrial arts & homemaking library owned by KAIRYUDO) investigated in the Ministry of Education. These results were obtained as follows. (1) Craft educational contents in the 1951's courses of study of vocation & homemaking and of arts & crafts overlapped in details. (2) The craft educational contents in art & practical arts of National School during the world war II had been succeeded to the contents of vocation & homemaking and of arts & crafts after the war. (3) When the industrial arts & homemaking was organized at the revision of a course of study in 1958, the organization had the background that the people concerned with art education at that time expected to full the contents of craft education, and that the people actively went into the organization of the new subject. (4) The craft educational contents expected for the people concerned with art education were not introduced at the revision of a course of study in 1958, so the craft education came back into arts as the "handicraft". From these results, the organization of industrial arts & homemaking in 1958 had a character that the people concerned with art education tried to revive the craft education, and that the trial finished to fail.

関節内のはく離骨折の治療には金属製のスクリューは患者の関節に重大な障害を与えるため使用することができず,有効な治療法はないのが現状であった.患者の骨折治療において最も安全かつ有効な材料は患者自身の骨であり,患者自身の骨を用いて骨折部を固定するスクリューを手術室内にて加工することで,最も安全かつ患者への負担の少ない治療が可能になる.本講演では,関節内骨折を治療するための骨製スクリューを手術室内で加工する骨加工マイクロ工作機械とそのシステムの開発について報告する.
