Although there have been some studies on safety culture, studies on specific methods to foster safety culture have been limited. Moreover, it is deemed necessary to assess and foster safety cultures not only for individual organizations but also inter-organizationally. In this study, we developed a program to foster safety culture. Thereafter, we applied the program to multi-tiered industrial organizations. Hence, this paper focuses on interorganizational approaches. The program consisted of multiple questionnaire surveys, interview surveys, group works, and monitoring surveys. The subjects of the surveys were members of energy plants. As a result, in general, improvements in the safety culture evaluation were seen after the implementation of countermeasures. In the program consisting of multiple surveys and activities, a certain effect of fostering safety culture in multi-tiered organizations was recognized. Henceforth, more studies will be required on the means of assessing and fostering safety cultures in multi-tiered industrial organizations of various types.

This research aimed to explore the effectiveness and limitations of assertiveness training by using the grounded modified theory approach. Results showed the training to be effective in initiating internal changes, behavioral changes, and other changes in both the participants and the people around them. On the other hand, the training was found to be ineffective in translating its effect into real-life situations as indicated by participants' responses as "The effect of training does not reach real life" and "I was trained that behavior is bound." This can be considered as a limitation of the training.

Educational institutions need to train nursing students with an eye toward vocational readiness to increase the number of graduates who will continue to work in the nursing field. This longitudinal study of junior college nursing students examines the causal relationship between vocational readiness and 3 potentially related factors (School image, degree of understanding of the lessons, and interest in nursing) using the cross-lagged effect model. The only significant relationship observed was between vocational readiness and the student's interest in nursing. As having an interest in nursing increases vocational readiness, fostering an interest in nursing should raise their perceived value of working as a nurse, potentially increasing the number of graduates who remain working as nurses.

This study's objective was to clarify how new mothers perceive and cope with a lack of sleep during the early postpartum period. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 mothers; the responses were analyzed using the KJ method. Mothers held the belief that being a mother means not sleeping, but also felt anxiety at not knowing what comes next and experienced unique hardships that differed from mother to mother. In addition, the first factor contributed to irritation at those around them and embarrassment, which in turn had knock-on effects on the latter hardships. Effective coping strategies included recognizing the preciousness of "now, " comparing their current situation with the past or those of other mothers, setting their mind at ease, and anti-perfectionism, which led mothers to overcome their difficulties with tricks and help from others. Our results suggest that providers need to understand how mothers perceive and cope with sleeplessness during the early postpartum period, design training contents so that they can visualize the next stages of motherhood, and offer specific solutions to help them sleep.

This study aimed to examine the influence of parent-child psychological independence on care burden through acceptance of care. Five hundred thirty-four adult children, who were caring for, or had cared for their parents at home, completed the scales. In analysis one, the acceptance of care scale data was analyzed using factor analysis and confirmed reliability and validity. In analysis two, data were analyzed using a pass analysis with multiple group structural equation modeling to identify the relationship between parent-child psychological independence, the acceptance of care, and care burden, and the care dyad difference between the models. Analysis one showed three factors of the acceptance of care scale: 'confusion and resistance,' 'resignation and hope,' 'active understanding. ' This scale had internal consistency and validity. Analysis two illustrated that 'reliable relationship with a parent' affected 'resignation and hope' and 'active understanding,' and that 'confusion and resistance' and 'active understanding' affected care burden. It was also suggested that dementia affected 'confusion and resistance' in mother-daughter caregiving. Implications for mental support for caregivers were discussed.

ADHD is a developmental disorder that is known to influence traffic accidents because of the characteristics. Therefore, it is essential to understand the effects of psychological and behavioral characteristics of ADHD on traffic behaviors to identify effective methods of preventing traffic accidents. This study used an analog study method and focused on "attentional dysfunctions while moving." A self-checklist by 5 choices method that made of ADHD 18 items in DSM-5 was administered to university students and correlations between the ability of two types of spatial attention tasks and scores of attentional dysfunctions while moving were examined based on the degree of ADHD tendency. A two-way ANOVA was conducted on ADHD tendency and the ability of spatial attention. The results showed the participants with high ADHD tendencies demonstrated a low change detection ability that decreased "attentional dysregulation scores" and "a decline in arousal level scores". It was suggested that difficulties in maintaining attention might decrease the change detection ability of people with ADHD tendencies, which might influence carelessness while moving.

This is a study for effect of professionalism on personal growth Initiative among university students who wish to apply for profession. The study was carried out through a questionnaire, that would help to determine preference of professionalism and personal growth initiative, to 224 students who are belonging to first, second and third grader in universities. On the assumption that two factors "altruism" and "autonomy" will effect on personal growth initiative through three factors of mediation "cooperation with coworkers", "learning and development of knowledge and skill" and "qualification", and then pass analyses was conducted. Results of pass analyses showed that preferences for "altruism" could positively effect on "personal growth Initiative" indirectly through "cooperation with coworkers" and "learning and development of knowledge and skills", and indicated that preferences for "autonomy" positively effect on "personal growth initiative" and "learning and development of knowledge and skills" directly.

The concealed information test (CIT) is a forensic psychophysiological method that allows for the detection of memories that are related to criminal activity. This study examines whether suspects have participated in or have intention to take part in a terror attack. A total of 48 students were invited to participate. Participants in the "intention group" were asked to confirm the terror target with a map and photograph, and those in the "execution group" placed a simulated explosive at the target on the map. Each participant then completed two CITs. Results showed that the average skin conductance response to the critical question regarding the target photograph was significantly larger than that to non-critical items for both groups. Additionally, only participants in the execution group could distinguish the type of bomb used. These findings suggest that it is possible to differentiate between groups through the use of a critical item known only to those who have executed the crime. This information could be used to distinguish between suspects who participated directly or tangentially in a terrorist act.

The authors examined the effects of neighborhood commitment and atmosphere on antisociality as mediated by collective efficacy (CE) using a multilevel analysis. Stratified sampling was used to collect data from 3,451 students and 545 teachers from 26 junior high schools in 4 qualitatively different communities. CE was indicated by students based on their perceptions of neighborhood "informal social control" (ISC) and "social cohesion and trust" (SCT) in their communities and their social information processing denoted antisociality. Teachers assessed the antecedent indices regarding the community environments within their school districts. Multilevel structural equation modeling was used to analyze the neighborhood-level effects of the antecedents on antisociality via CE. The results revealed that antecedents indirectly inhibited antisociality via ISC at the neighborhood-level. SCT directly inhibited antisociality at the individual-level. Implications for community interventions were discussed.

This study aimed at creating scales for measuring organizational retaliatory behaviors that would occur as a result of friction or conflict in human relationships between nurses in hospitals and may adversely affect patients, and finding the relationship of the organizational retaliatory behaviors with the emotional commitments and feelings of self-esteem.With 1439 nurses participating the survey, this study established a cause-and-effect model where the factors for nurse organizational retaliatory behaviors namely "enervation," "unskillfulness," "self-indulgence" were dependent variables, and feelings of self-esteem, emotional commitments, and affirmative feeling were the primary causes. Then, using the Structural Equation modeling, we examined if the model matched with the data. As a result, it was confirmed that the model matched with the data (CFI=0.945, RMSEA=0.049), suggesting that the factors reducing the organizational retaliatory behaviors should be considered.

This is a study with regard to an effect on personal growth initiative and career exploration through verifying bilateral property of yaritaikoto-oriented (what one hopes to do) university students is having. It was carried out as an inquiry into yaritaikoto-oriented, personal growth initiative conducted to 289 of university students. As a result of factor analysis showed it was composed of two factors both work-yaritaikoto-oriented and life-yaritaikoto-oriented. And conducted study with pass analysis on the assumption that a model that may effect on self-understanding, information gathering and learn from others by career explanation through work-yaritaikoto-oriented and life-yaritaikoto-oriented. The analysis showed work-yaritaikoto-oriented brought positive effect on gathering, learn from others and self-understanding through personal growth initiative, on the other hand life-yaritaikoto-oriented brought negative affection directly on personal growth initiative and learn from others. In conclusion, the importance of fulfilling career support has been proposed based on the results of above-mentioned study.

After the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident, which was triggered by Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11th of 2011, mandatory evacuation was issued on residents in many villages, towns, cities and administrative districts sorrounding the plant. Residents of Okuma-machi were among those who were urged to evacuate, and later were brought to temporary shelters in Aizuwakamatsu. At the time of this study, most evacuees lived with uncertainty due to the ongoing decontamination of radioactive materials in their hometown, and, hence, their indefinite displacement from their homes. In this study, GHQ28 was used to evaluate the mental health conditions of the evacuees from Okuma-machi and residents of the host city, Aizuwakamatsu of Fukushima prefecture. This study was conducted two years and five months after the accident. The main results were as follows. Individuals who scored above threshold of 6 points are considered to be at high risk of mental disorder. 78.4% of the evacuees from Okuma-machi were found be high-risk individuals.

This study investigated a model in which internal working models of junior high school students are directly linked to their resilience while at the same time relationships with family members and teachers have mediating effects on the resilience of the students. Furthermore, resilience was assumed to be influenced by academic competence and sense of life satisfaction. The results of covariance structure analyses confirmed the validity of the model. Differences relating to grade level in school and gender were also examined by simultaneous analysis of multiple populations. The results revealed that positive relationships of junior high school students increase their resilience, which in turn mediates the promotion of life satisfaction and academic competence.

The purpose of this study is to identify transformation in occupation / career consciousness and behaviors, especially regarding commitment, through career lecturer experiences. Two working adults participated in a career lecturer training program that involved mentoring high school students and offering a career lecture. Personal Attitude Construct (PAC) analysis was performed. Each participant elicited free associations regarding stimulus sentences and evaluated the degree of importance regarding all the association items. A dendrogram of the cluster analysis was generated for each participant. Then each participant added "post-program thoughts", "career development behaviors", and "career value" to the association items. The same procedure was done to create another dendrogram. Using two dendrograms and a dialogical interview each participant interpreted the clusters and described the contents. The results of the cluster analysis clarified each participant's transformation in career consciousness and behaviors through the program and explored their value hierarchy.

The Concealed Information Test (CIT) is a scientifically validated technique used in forensic psychophysiology that allows for the detection of concealed memories using physiological response. In a typical CIT, critical items concerning the details of the crime known only to the perpetrator and the investigative authorities are used. However, when the critical items are not known, examiners use Searching CIT (SCIT). The purpose of this study is to examine whether physiological responses depend on the ordinary type or unlimited type of question series. Fifteen undergraduate students were instructed to go to an office room and steal a certain sweet (candy, chocolate, cookie, nuts or gummies) from a table, then hide it somewhere in the room. The skin conductance response (SCR), heart rate and respiration activity were recorded. The examiner first presented the ordinary condition which comprised of only critical and noncritical items, and then conducted a different type of question series including an unlimited item (catch-all item). The results indicated that critical items elicited the SCR significantly stronger than the noncritical items in both question series. It was concluded that the use of a catch-all item didn't affect the differences between critical and noncritical items.

This study examines two viewpoints on acculturation among the ethnic group of Zainichi Koreans, who settled, or whose ancestors settled, in Japan during the Japanese colonial era (1910-1945): the "traditional" view of acculturation (which includes four types of acculturation: assimilation, integration, marginalization, and separation), based on Western academic research, and the "context-specific" or "unattached" view, which conveys a desire for freedom from and a lifestyle or orientation that resists being constrained by pre-determined Korean or Japanese cultures and identities, preferring to identify as "human beings" or "individuals." Through an ANOVA test, our research found that unattachment score was highest in a more integrated group—contrary to our hypothesis that it would be highest in a more marginalized group, who irrespective of the conceptual connection between marginalization and unattachment have a tendency toward integration in their "real lives." These findings can help us understand the daily lives, identities, and perspectives of Zainichi Koreans and other ethnic minorities in Japan.

The purpose of this study was to verify the effectiveness of the eye movements in the concealed information test by simultaneous presentation method of visual and auditory stimulus. First of all, the participants were engaged in a mock theft task. Next, in the concealed information test, visual and auditory stimuli were simultaneously presented. As a results, fixation to the critical stimulus was suppressed compared to the non-critical stimuli. This indicates that fixation to the critical stimulus is suppressed independently of the presentation of the auditory stimuli. In addition, the significant detection rate was obtained. These results suggest that eye movement is an effective detection index even in the procedure of this study using simultaneous presentation of visual and auditory stimulus.
