We propose a new method of sound ray tracing simulation to solve the problem variability of results due to the influence of the inputted level of detail of modeled rooms. This method offers a way to generate automatically room shapes suited to the analysis frequency. This method was verified by comparing with finite difference time domain method based on wave theory. As the result of a verification, it was clarified that the sound reflection angle can be mostly controlled by this method.

We have developed a simulation model to estimate the residential energy end-use in Japan. In this model, residential energy consumption is simulated taking into account the variety of the residents, housing insulation, and climate condition. With the use of this model, we estimated the domestic residential energy consumption of Japan in 2025, considering replacement of housing stock. For this purpose, we have improved the "Stock model of housing insulation efficiency", that is able to estimate the distribution of building's insulation levels considering replacement of housing stock. By using the stock model, the effectiveness of measures related to housing insulation is also evaluated.

Effects of direction of the attention under the combined environment of color and temperature were discussed experimentally. Thermal conditions, color conditions and direction of the attention to environment were controlled. Subjects were 44 male and 105 female students. They participated in either winter or summer experiments. The results are summarized as follows: (1)Evaluations of the subjects were different between those who paid attention to color and those who did to temperature, (2)the effect of colors on the evaluation of subjects who paid attention to color was larger than that of the other subjects.

In order to obtain the fundamental information for discussing residential energy saving strategies, long-term investigation of detail energy consumption and indoor climate Have been done in 2002 to 2003 for 80 dwellings, including detached houses and apartments, in six districts of Japan. The occupant's behavior and building thermal performance were also investigated. Energy consumption for each appliance was measured as much as possible. This paper reports the description of all houses measured and the end use structure of annual energy consumption. The main results are following; 1) In Hokkaido, Tohoku and Hokuriku districts, the annual energy consumption for many houses was more than 60GJ but such houses were very few in other districts. 2) The houses measured in Hokkaido and Hokuriku districts consumed almost the same amount of energy for space heating, cooling and mechanical ventilation as that for hot water supply. But in other districts, the share of energy consumption for hot water supply is the largest. 3) The annual energy consumption increased with the decrease in annual mean outdoor temperature. But the contribution rate is not large as 0.4.

Room air temperature is recommended to be kept 28℃ for conservation of energy today. For human thermal comfort in room temperature of 28℃, it is likely to need personal control of the men dress lighter and, an increased air velocity. The present paper, by questionnaire survey in office at air temperature of 28℃, and experiment with subjects and thermal manikin of various clothes at chamber shows how human may feel to environment with air temperature of 28℃. Additionally, it is proposed to comfortable condition at room temperature of 28℃ in office as clothes, air flow, and radiant temperature.

Some regions along the coast in East Hokkaido have peculiar climates, with dense fog in summer and abundant sunshine in winter. The purpose of this paper is to propose how to effectively use a "sunroom" during summer and winter in these regions. Air temperature and humidity conditions were measured in both summer and winter within two detached houses in these regions containing a "sunroom". From these measurements, the following knowledge was acquired: 1) In summer, a large sunroom provides good environmental temperature conditions for a living room connected with it during the dense fog season. 2) In the case of a detached house built with a sunroom, it could be predicted that the heat loss through glazing doors situated between the living room and the sunroom greatly decreases in winter.

Radiation environment over the watered pavement and the highly reflective pavement, which have been developed for mitigation of the heat island phenomenon, were compared with that over a paved asphalt and natural turf under the same meteorological condition. Possible absorptions of long- and shortwave radiation by a supposed globe placed at 50cm above these surfaces were calculated. It is found that the highly reflective pavement had a potential to degrade the thermal environment over it due to the increase of reflected solar radiation, while the watered pavement did not have such a side effect. Human thermal environment can be improved more effectively by shading and/or selection of the color of clothes than by changing the types of pavements. The estimated SET^* on the watered pavement showed its superiority over that on the highly reflective pavement from the standpoint of the thermal comfortability at lower leg level.

We deduced that it is possible to define the Dilemma substance in the so-called dilemma games by the fact, a cooperative strategy cannot be dominant. This simple but clear definition can provide a firm way to a quantitative evaluation for the dilemma intensity in order to compare other types of dilemma games, for example, between Chicken and Leader Game. On the pathway of our deductive discussion, two important concepts concerning the Pareto Least and a parameterized expression procedure for the game structure were presented. In particular, the latter concept seems to be quite breakthrough to overview holistic 2×2 game world including Prisoners Dilemma, Chicken, Stag Hunt, Leader and Hero Game. And a practical explanation going through 2×2 game was presented about what we defined as the dilemma substance seems to be plausible from the viewpoint of the Replicator Dynamics.

In this paper, a linear programming model has been developed. The objective is to minimize annual cost of the energy system for a given customer equipped with a biomass combined heat and power (CHP) plant, combining with a back-up boiler. The model reports the optimal biomass system capacities that customers could employ given their electricity and thermal requirements. Using this model, an investigation is conducted of economically optimal biomass investment for a residential district in Kitakyushu Science and Research Park. Furthermore, a sensitivity analysis has been elaborated in order to show how the optimal solutions as well as the economics of the biomass energy system would vary due to changes of some key parameters including biogas price and carbon tax rate.

The purpose of this study is to grasp the influence of combined drainage load in house drain in to drainage stack system, and flow capacity of house drain. And the object of further study will be to establish and purpose new testing evaluation method which it is consider the influence of combined drainage load. This paper discusses the following points, (1) The way to provide combined drainage load in house drain, (2) Conditions of Pressure variation by combined drainage load in drainage system and an evaluation method thereof and (3) Understanding of the flow capacity of house drain in a drainage system by combined drainage load.

This research was performed on methods to promote integration between urban and rural sectors in the San En Nan Shin region using an Urban-Rural Linkage Model that investigates social surplus maximization, effects of introducing an environmental tax, and transport cost minimization due to land use transformation in a fallow agricultural region. Land use transformation was studied in terms of (1) an economic priority model,(2) an environmental harmonization model, and (3) a balanced model. Economic and environmental outcomes including the impact on price from the environmental tax were quantitatively analyzed for each case.

This study is on the appropriate setting of the angle of view and reality in computer graphics, as a method of simulation of interior. 1. For the simulation of the room about 1 6 m^2, using 17 inch monitor. 74 degrees is the best horizontal angle of view. 2. We studied what element of space affects the reality of CG and how it affects. We think the CG is real, when the shadow, the smoothness of the curved surface and the texture are real. The detail of modeling, the fineness of mesh, the texture, the times of calculation and the method of rendering affect the reality. But their highest settings don't result in highest reality and we can set the parameters properly. 3. The media we present CG is not so influential on the reality, but it affects the space perception so much.
