This paper deals with the particulars of the Fushimi-castle that met with the rise and fall by the men then in power. And the writer devides this term into five parts by the use of new historical materials. That is; The Ist period ; The residence at Shigetsu for the retreat of Hideyoshi Toyotomi. The 2nd period; From the construction of the castle at Shigetsu by Hedeyoshi Toyotomi to the collapse by the earthquake. The 3rd period ; From the reconstruction of the castle at Mt. Kohata by Hideyoshi Toyotomi to the fall of the castle. The 4th period ; The construction of the castle at Mt. Kohata by Iyeyasu Tokugawa. The 5th period ; From the repair of the castle by Hidetada Tokugawa to the destruction of it by Iyemitsu Tokugawa.

This paper aims to clarify the relationship between split method and it's effects.Hearing survey was condacted,the results are as follows.1)There are 3 split-types.Type I :combined care in a ground,Type II :separated care in a ground and Type III :separeted care in the separated grounds.2)The effects defer from split-types. Type I improves in physical conditions.Type II and Type III are effective way at all points,especailly type III is more effective in child care.3)There are 4 barriers to split the GAKUDOHOIKUSYO. (1) difficulty to find a site, (2) unstable operation, (3) lack of parents' understanding and (4) lack of government's arrangement policy for GAKUDOHOIKUSYO.

Under the ordinance on littering and non-smoking in Yokohama city, smoking is not allowed in the “No-smoking areas” designated 8 areas in the city to maintain pleasant urban environments. Even strict conditions for smokers, complaints and requests regarding butts and violation on the ordinance still have been claimed. In this case study, we analysis the complaints and requests which were received bureau of civic affairs using methods of text mining. Then we conducted interview with the department of community environment which is in charge of outdoor smoking. In the consequence, we could suggest two gaps. One is requests from residents and the city’s countermeasures for outdoor smoking, and other is recognition gaps between residents and the city. To challenge such a cross organizational issue, the collaboration of the administration and communities might be effective for coexistence among various residents.

Military hospitals was very important in Japan during the Meiji Era. The Meiji Goverment founded the army and navy under the national policy to enrich and strengthen the country. Armies were stationed throughout the country, where medical treatment facilities were systematically constructed. In 1871, an image plan for military hospitals was made by Ryojun Matsumoto who was the director of Surgeon Administration Department. His plan was reasonable and interesting because of constructing some of the appropriate hospitals intead of a large hospital, but they were not realized. In 1874, a model plan for the military hospitals was made under the guidance of a French Military engineer. Kumamoto and Nagoya Garrison Hospitals, the typical examples of the model plan built in 1875 and 1878. Both hospitals were composed of bilaterally symmetrical finger plan type with a large courtyard. In 1893, a standard planning for the military hospitals was made under the influences of German medical science, which was the first important standard of hospital architecture in Japan. Most of the military hospitals constructed afterwards were based on this standard.

This paper shows the changes of the exterior design of Tokyo municipal elementary school buildings built of reinforced concrete and points out that pursuit of clarity, rather than that of rationalism, is shown in the simple exterior design after 1931 which is characterized by whitish smooth surface with only rectangular windows.

In this article, we discuss on the mechanical properties of bamboo as construction material and on the development of handmade joint connecting bamboos, based on the results of some experiments. We used them in the planning of the actual building as reported in the previous paper (Part 1).We sampled some test pieces in the bamboo forest near the building site, and conducted experiments to evaluate the strength of bamboo. Joint making method was also developed by repeating some test trials. We propose two types of method, which have convenience for manual work and enough reliability in securing necessary strength.

The purpose of this report is to examine the design process of the Republic of China Pavilion for the 1970 Japan World Exposition in Osaka, using materials dispersed in Japan and Taiwan. The research revealed that the first prize proposal for the pavilion was selected through an open design competition, but that the jury, Ieoh Ming Pei, rejected it, and the pavilion was redesigned under Pei’s coordination. It was also revealed that throughout the design process, the design of the ROC Pavilion, despite its apparent modernism style, consistently attempted to express the Chinese spirit and traditions.

In this study, a questionnaire survey of students participating in group work was conducted in order to gain knowledge for effective planning and management of online group work in university education. As a result, the group work members were divided into three types in order of their contribution: proactive leader type, supporter type, and follower type. Many members of the proactive leader type and supporter type rated both the maturity of the group and the contribution of the individual highly, while the follower type had various ratings for the group and low ratings for the individual.

This study focuses on the disaster risks and countermeasures at the 12 home stadiums of the Japanese professional baseball. Based on the verification with hazard maps, many stadiums are located on the hazardous area. However, there is a lack of information about it toward visitors around the stadiums. Our questionnaires to the managers of each stadium indicated that their risk perception related to natural disasters are not necessarily consistent with hazard maps, and their intension whether they open stadiums as a shelter in the time of disasters depend on the stadiums. More collaboration will be needed with local governments.

Recently, the garbage littering problem is widely pointed. From the long term point of view provisions against littering are necessary not only in soft side but also in hard side. In this study we defined strength which littering is caused, as “Poisute Potential (=PP)” and tried to analyse the spatial distribution characteristic especially about cigarette butt. We examined the influential factor to such as crossing, shop entrance and street furniture. From this analysis, we can say that centralization and the reduction of the littering garbage should be able to be expected by proper installation of street furniture.

Using GPGPU, we developed a method to calculate the solid angle of landscape elements with an omnidirectional field of vision, via intersection detection. We confirmed that the processing speed was approximately 500 times faster than the processing speed achieved using a single CPU. Furthermore, the developed method was applied for the calculation of the omnidirectional green visibility of models with randomly arranged trees. Thus, the relationship between the shape and number of trees and the omnidirectional green visibility was analyzed statistically. These results can be considered as an index of the green visibility rate when planning the arrangement of trees.

Railway foot bridge at stations is one of the station structures for use of passengers. Although it is a universal railway structure in Japan, its historical development is poorly understood until now. This paper describes the history of railway foot bridges on the Tokaido Line based on historical records and drawings in the Meiji era. As the results of this survey, the diffusion process from large stations to local stations, and the standardization process in the end of the Meiji era have become clear.

In 1005, Fujiwara Michinaga constructed the Jomyoii temple, where the Hokkedo was the main hall. Taking this oppotunity,the relation between Hokkedo and dead body developped gradually. Late in the 12th century, it got firmly fixed to use Hokkedo as the mausoleum of emperors. And in Kamakura era, this formality became popular among the leaders of the "samurai". On the other hand, the Amidados used as mausplems were few. We can understand this fact as follows. The interior of the Amidado was recognised to be very pure, so it might be hesitated to enshrine the dead body in it which bore much "Kegare" (impurity).

In this paper, the safety margin of seismically isolated buildings (SIBs) is probabilistically evaluated using Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA), and the effect of laminated rubber bearing’s hardening characteristics on the safety margin of SIBs is also verified quantitatively. As a result, since the non-consideration of hardening characteristics overestimates the safety margin, it is important to consider the hardening characteristics in the evaluation of superstructure’s safety margin. Also, tendency of the safety margin probabilistically evaluated by IDA under numbers of actual ground motions is showing high consistency with tendency of that under general design ground motions.

In this paper, we conducted a sketch map survey of two attributes with and without land knowledge to understand the characteristics of the city image created using a map application. Through the analysis of the sketch maps, it became clear that the use of map applications is effective in creating city images for users without land knowledge. In addition, we found that the formation of city images through app use was influenced by (1) the image before using the app, (2) the usage of application functions, and (3) the time of use using the app.

In this study, 10-year outdoor exposure test was conducted to confirm the durability of bamboo reinforced concrete exposed for a long period of time. Concrete specimens with the same composition and bamboo reinforced concrete members with the same shape and reinforcement were placed in the outdoor and underground environment for 10 years. The strength tests of these specimens were carried out at the 1st month, 3rd month, and 10th years. The results of examining the effects of differences in environmental conditions on the quality of concrete, the corrosion of bamboo reinforcement, and the aging deterioration are described.

This research focuses on the social contact in urban spaces as a possible protective factor against the development of loneliness. We conducted an online questionnaire survey focusing on going-out activities, especially those for leisure purposes, which previous studies have suggested might be correlated with loneliness, and examined their association with it. Through web-based questionnaire survey and following text mining analysis, it was clarified that it is important for the senior citizens to go out in urban spaces, enjoy leisure time, and interact with others so that they can avoid feeling lonely.

The bending failure of full-culm bamboo is usually preceded by bending failure perpendicular to the fibers of the bamboo culm walls. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the stress perpendicular to the fiber that accompanies the bending of the bamboo culm. Brazier effect is considered one of the factors that cause this stress. In this paper, we discuss the bending failure mechanism and bending strength of round bamboo culms with formulation of the Brazier effect theory, numerical analysis, and experiments.According to the Brazier effect theory, when the bending moment for the bamboo culm is small, the bending stress perpendicular to the fiber is about 6 % of the stress parallel to the fiber. Also, the finite element analysis results and the Brazier effect theory showed good agreement in some conditions. The stress perpendicular to the fiber by numerical analysis lies between the linear approximation and the Brazier effect theory and is affected by the internode length. As a result of the bending experiment using Madake bamboo, the stress distribution in the part of the bamboo culm that is not directly subjected to the external force agrees well with the Brazier effect theory. However, it was observed that at the point where the concentrated load was applied, a large additional bending stress perpendicular to the fiber was generated in the culm wall, leading to bending failure of the bamboo culm.

The authors suggest a novel detection method for ceiling damage using image differencing and Grad-CAM. The proposed method requires the latest image and the past image of the facility to compare. It adjusts the difference due to camera position, sunlight condition, etc. The authors show validity of this method showing four pairs of input images. The proposed method can appropriately detect damaged areas with better accuracy for facility inspection by narrowing the areas of inspection using image differencing and Grad-CAM procedures.
