Biochemical studies on the mucus covering fish body are of high interest not only from the physiological aspect but also from comparative biochemistry as regards mucins of other animals. In respect to mucus on fish epidermis, only a few investigations, mainly on the sugars and amino acids, have been done by TURUMI and SAITO1), WESSLER and WERNER2), and ENOMOTO etal3-5). No detailed works, therefore, have been done on the chemical nature and property. In the present paper, to elucidate the chemical nature and property of fish mucus, the histochemical identification and characterization were first performed on the mucus in the epidermis of eel, Anguilla japonica. The tissue was fixed in Carnoy's fluid for about 1 hour, and then cut at a thickness of 10μ. The sections were stained by the conventional periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) reaction for polysaccharides. For sialic acid-containing glycoproteins, alcian blue (AB)-PAS staining7) with or without sialidase digestion was carried out. For sulfated mucopolysaccharides, aldehyde fuchsin (AF)-AB9), AB-safranin 0 (Saf.)10), and neutral red (NR) staining11) were done. The results of the histochemical stainings are as follows: 1) The mucin covering eel body were composed mainly of sialic acid-containing glycoprotein and sulfated mucopolysaccharide. 2) The former is secreted to the outside from goblet cells, the latter from columnar mucous cells, respectively. 3) The predominant component of the mucus seems to be sialic acid-containing glycoprotein.

本稿の目的は,我が国における精神障害(者)に対する偏見について,偏見が弱い人の属性や偏見を低減する効果的な介入を検討するために現段階で信頼性の高い一定の知見を得ることである.医中誌WebとCitation Information by NII(CiNii),J-Dream Ⅲで文献検索し,検索範囲は2002年1月1日から2017年10月13日とした.検索の結果,1,906編中13編が分析対象となり,その結果,偏見が弱い人の属性は,精神障害者との接触があることと知識があることの2点である可能性が示唆された.精神障害者に対する偏見を低減するための効果的な介入は,精神障害者と『共に作業』することと,普及啓発活動だと考えられる.

Sr isotope ratio and trace elements (Al, Ti, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Rb, Sr) of 52 paprika samples (from Japan, Korea, New Zealand and Netherlands) were measured using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers of the double-focusing type and the quadrupole type, respectively. The relative standard deviation of the strontium isotope ratio (87Sr/86Sr) for a NIST SRM 987 standard was as small as 0.033% by optimizing the measurement conditions of the device. The obtained data were statistically evaluated so as to investigate whether there was a significant difference between domestic and foreign products cultivated by nourishing solutions. Although domestic products were limited to two cultivated areas, a linear discriminant analysis (LDA) model allowed the discrimination of domestic and foreign products with high (domestic products) accuracy. Consequently, the present study has demonstrated that the production place of paprika cultivated by a nourishing solution can be estimated by the 87Sr/86Sr isotope ratio and the Sr concentrations.

TLS/SSL暗号通信の全機能をFPGA・ASICにワンチップ化して搭載するアーキテクチャを開発し、省電力(23W)な10Gbps TLS/SSLアクセラレータを65nm FPGAを用いて実現した。FPGA・ASICを用いることで、並列化・パイプライン化・演算単位最適化による演算効率向上が可能となり、省電力化が実現される。ワンチップ化することで、機能ブロック間の接続にスイッチを用いることが可能となり、データ交換時の輻輳が無くなり、高スループット化が実現される。本研究では、回路量を削減してワンチップ化を容易にするために、送受信回路の一部共通化、複数データで1回路を共有する並列演算、等の演算方式の高効率化を行った。加えて、スイッチの配線量を削減して動作周波数を向上させるために、スイッチの入出力を共通化することでスイッチを小型化した。これらにより、TLS/SSL暗号通信の全機能の回路量を、本開発で使用した65nm FPGA1つ分に抑え、10Gbpsスループットの実現に必要な166MHz動作(64ビット幅パイプライン処理時)を得た。試作ボードを用いた実験評価では、23Wの消費電力による10Gbpsの暗号化スループットを達成した。

The purpose of the Mulamadhyamakakarika is to declare nihsvabhavata. For this purpose, Nagarjuna reveals the opponents' contradictions throughvarious means, and proves nihsvabhavata. There are “five types of quest” in his argument. The “five types of quest” adds a denial of difference to the argumentation against wrong views found in Early Buddhism, and leads to the establishment of nihsvabhavata. This paper will show how the way of the argument developed to the “five types of quest” from Early Buddhism's formulation.

Coffee polyphenols (CPPs) derived from coffee beans have beneficial effects on blood pressure and vascular endothelial function. In addition, CPPs suppress ultraviolet light induced erythema. However, the effects of CPPs on dry skin and cutaneous vascular function have not been clarified. We investigated the effects of CPPs on dry skin and the recovery rate (RR) of skin temperature after a cold-stress test as a measure of vascular function in subjects with visible scaliness in a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized study. The subjects were divided into two groups, the CPP group and the Placebo group. In the CPP group, the subjects ingested a beverage containing 297.8 mg CPPs every day for 4 wk. The degree of skin dryness was assessed quantitatively using a Visioscan to evaluate skin scaliness and smoothness. A subjective evaluation using a visual analog scale (VAS) of skin smoothness was also used. As a result, the scaliness and smoothness of cheek skin was significantly improved after 4 wk in the CPP group compared to the Placebo group. The improvements of the VAS score on ‘skin smoothness’ and the RR were also observed in the CPP group but the difference was not statistically significant. However, when the CPP group was divided into subgroups of high RR and low RR, the improvement of the RR was significant in the low RR subgroup. In conclusion, our results suggest that CPPs improve skin scaliness and play a role in cutaneous blood flow regulation after cold stress.

The oxygen effect was observed as 1912 by Swartz. The ratio of doses administered under hypoxic to oxic conditions needed to achieve the same biological effect is called the oxygen enhancement ratio (OER). For low-LET radiation, such as photon radiation, the OER at high doses has a value of between 2.5 and 3, and the OER has a smaller value of about 2.5 or less at lower doses. The oxygen effect is large and important in the case of low-LET radiations. Radio-chemical reactions are generally believed to be the fundamental mechanisms underlying oxygen effects. Oxygen fixes the damage produced by free radical. In the absence of oxygen, damage produced by the indirect action may be repaired. The OER has been determined for a wide variety of chemical and biologic systems with different endpoints. For high-LET radiation such as heavy-ions, oxygen effect is very small. The oxygen-in-the-track hypothesis proposed to account for this effect, suggests that cells exposed to high-LET radiation exhibit an oxygenated microenvironment around the particle track, even when they are irradiated under anoxic conditions.
