多変量最適内挿法を一般化した、統計的客観解析法が示される。一般化は二点で行なわれる。第一点は、斉次線形束縛条件が、その定式化の中に陽に組み込まれていること、第二点は、一般化された方法は、気候値及びその分散、予報値及びその予報誤差分散の両方を統一的に用いるが、従来の多変量最適内挿法は、それらの一方をファーストゲスとして用いるだけである。 線形束縛条件と合致する共分散行列は、ちょうど変分客観解析における束縛条件と同様に、その線形束縛条件で束縛された空間への射影演算子として機能することが、Phillips (1982) とは異なる方法で示される。 又、ここで示される方法は変分客観解析を次の二点において改良したものとみなせる。第一点は、この方法は統計的に最適な値を与えるが、変分客観解析は、その統計的意味があいまいであること、第二点は、この方法は、不規則に分布した観測点データから直接格子点上の解析値を与えるが、変分客観解析は変分法による修正を行なう前にあらかじめ観測値を格子点上に内挿する必要がある。 この方法のいくつかの応用例が示される。例の中で、変分客観解析の弱い束縛の統計的意味が示される。又、高度場、風の場の多変量客観解析に適用できる、発散共分散モデルも議論される。 この方法は、多変量最適内挿法と、線形束縛条件を課した場合の変分客観解析の両方をその特別な場合として含む。この方法を介して、多変量最適内挿法と、変分客観解析の間の関係が基本的に理解される。

Today, many goods are developed using the mental effect by the color. As a typical example, bath salts can be mentioned. In this study, the SD technique was used to quantitatively determine about how the color of solution influence the mental effect by 15 subjects. The results showed that effects by the red shades such as “warmth", and by the blue and purple shades such as “composedness", were high. Also, it clarified about the influence by the white muddiness.

The importance of a visualization tool to improve public participation is becoming increasingly recognized within the urban planning and design community. The effective application of such a visualization tool in this context, however, remains relatively under explored. Based on a case study in which townscape rules were drawn up as a result of consensus through the landscape improvement committee of Nanao city, Japan, this paper discusses the potential and limitations of a visualization tool in improving public involvement for the purpose of reaching consensus on townscape rules at a district level. In addition, this paper reveals the need for a knowledge–based database system linking with VRML objects for powering a visualization tool to provide necessary information to assist in decision–making.

日本には,漢方医学という伝統的な医療がある.漢方薬は 1895 年に一度廃絶されたが,1965 年には復権し,保険医療で認められるに至っている.最近では,カイロプラクティックやアロマセラピーなどの他国から輸入された相補(補完)・代替医療 Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) がわが国でも広がりつつある.漢方医学以外の CAM に関する学会の設立は目白押しで,遅ればせながら CAM に取り組む気運が盛り上がりつつある.教育面では漢方医学が広く普及してきたが,その他の CAM についても少数ではあるが,教育を行う施設も出てきている.しかしながら,CAM の実践となると家庭医くらいで病院は数えるほどしかない.さらに統合医療となると実践施設はほとんど存在しないのが現状である.2003 年 6 月,東京の青山にわが国の大学としては初の統合医療実践施設が誕生した.西洋医学の専門家が CAM を中心に診療を行っている.筆者はその責任者である.本稿では,統合医療を実践するための問題点や現在行っているプログラムなどについて報告する.

The leaf beetle Ophraella communa is an oligophagous insect that infests several asteraceous plants, especially ragweed Ambrosia artemisiifolia, in fields of Japan. The feeding responses of O. communa to methanolic extracts of 11 genera and 17 species of asteraceous plants were examined to determine whether feeding preference depended on chemicals in the plants. The methanolic extracts of 8 asteraceous species stimulated feeding in O. communa, but the other 9 species showed no activity. Two triterpenoids (α-amyrin acetate and β-amyrin acetate) and two caffeic acid derivatives (chlorogenic acid and 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid) are known as feeding stimulants for O. communa. The distribution of these compounds was analyzed in 17 asteraceous species. These compounds were found in many species, including nonhost plants of this beetle, however amounts and compositions differed. Even when the methanolic extracts of A. artemisiifolia were added to extracts of some species which did not elicit feeding of O. communa, the feeding of O. communa was not induced by the inactive plants. Feeding deterrents as well as feeding stimulants in the leaves of asteraceous plants appear to determine the feeding preference of O. communa.

Host-use pattern for overwintering and reproduction of the ragweed beetle, Ophraella communa LeSage, was examined in Tsukuba, Japan. Many adults of both sexes were found overwintering inside the rolled parts of dead leaves of Xanthium canadense in November. These adults had already accumulated triacylglycerol as energy reserves, and were able to survive the winter and to reproduce in the spring. No eggs and larvae were found on X. canadense throughout the observation period, although overwintered adults were temporarily found in May. In contrast, reproduction occurs on Ambrosia artemisiifolia and A. trifida in late April. These results suggest that O. communa adults mainly use dead leaves of X. canadense as an overwintering shelter in Tsukuba, while they reproduce only on A. artemisiifolia and A. trifida in the spring. Such a seasonal migration between host plants may be important for the survival strategy.

The aquatic risk of 2-sulfonato fatty acid methyl ester sodium salt (MES) used in household detergents was assessed. The environmental exposure assessment expressed as predicted environmental concentration (PEC) was determined on the basis of monitoring results from the seven sites of four rivers in the urban area in Tokyo and Osaka. The 95 percentile as well as geometric mean of the MES concentration was found to exhibit a good correlation with the geometric mean of the Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD; the latter’s regression was grater than 0.99). The predicted no effect concentration (PNEC) for the aquatic environment was estimated by performing chronic assays of algae and daphnia. The risk characterization ratio (RCR: PEC/PNEC) was less than 1. Therefore, it is concluded that MES will not adversely affect the aquatic environment in Japan.

1988 年にオオクチバスフロリダ半島産亜種が放流された池原貯水池では,1996, 1997 年の遺伝学的調査においてフロリダ半島産亜種由来のミトコンドリア DNA(mtDNA)をもつ個体の割合は 56.8% であった。今回(2003 年)再調査を行った結果,本亜種由来の mtDNA をもつ個体は全体の 86.7% となり,前回調査より有意な増加がみとめられた。また,近畿地方の池原貯水池とは別水系の湖沼(津風呂湖,宝ヶ池,深泥池)からも本亜種由来の mtDNA をもつ個体が検出された。

Using the weeping branch of Japanese flowering cherry tree and its woody stem of the seedling grown under simulated microgravity condition by three dimensional clinostat, it was elucidated that the morphogenesis of its secondary xylem supporting the plant itself to grow upward is seriously controlled by gravity on earth with a sedimentable amyloplast as its sensor. Space experiment of woody plant is expected to elucidate such problem.
