Theory and Practice of Language Teaching This paper discusses the tension exerted between the linguistic hybridity movement (LH) and linguistic imperialism (LI). The current literature on LH and LI clearly demonstrates a passionate debate between the two linguistic schools of thought. The succinct difference between the LH movement and LI is distinguished between the LI approach, which adopts a deterministic, monolithic approach to language, while the LH movement adopts a relativistic, apathetic approach.

本論文では,人間の身体から発生している生体信号を測定し,生体信号に含まれているカオス特性をサウンド系列に変換することにより,個人固有のサウンド(マイサウンド)を生成するシステムを提案する.生体信号として指尖容積脈波を採用し,本システムで生成されたマイサウンドを傾聴させ,傾聴者の脳波を測定・解析した.本論文では,癒しとの関連があると考えられるα波の活動を評価することにより,マイサウンドの効果について考察する.In this paper, we propose a sound generation system, which generates an individual sound (called my-sound) peculiar to a personal from his biological signals. In our system, the chaotic characteristics of biological signals are transformed into several sound sequences. My-sound is composed of the several sound sequences. In an experiment, we adopt a finger plethysmogram (pulse-wave) as the biological signal, and have measured the brain-waves of my-sound listeners. In this paper, we also report the investigation of alpha wave, which is considerd to be relative to relaxation, and then discuss the effectiveness of my-sound for healing.

Aragonite-type of light calcium carbonate was synthesized by the successive reaction using calcined-hydrous scallop shells and calcined lime stones in the aqueous system with Mg2+ ions under the CO2 bubbling. In order to obtain the high aspect ratios of aragonite, the reaction temperature and concentrations of Ca2+ ions in the 2nd step were important. The aspect ratio of aragonite increased when the reaction temperature was higher in the 2nd step than in the 1st step of the successive reaction. When the smaller amounts of calcium source were added in the 2nd step than in the 1st step, and the reaction temperature was lower in the 2nd step than in the 1st step, large particles of aragonite were produced with no smooth surfaces. The successive reaction was useful to extend the variety of morphologies in aragonite.

Using 2 types of commercial magnetic water manufacturing equipment, the effect of the magnetic water on the rice cooking was examined. The osmotic pressure of the magnetic water tended to be lower than that of tap water a little, though pH of the magnetic water was a value equal to pH of the tap water. In the measurement of water absorption rate of the rice, the difference between magnetic water and tap water could not be observed. In the physical property measurement of the cooked rice, the breaking energy of the rice cooked in the magnetic water was lower than that of the rice hooked in tap water to some extent, and seemed to be the soft rice. The tissue structure of the cooked rice observed by optical microscope, the cell of the rice cooked in the magnetic water was clearly, and it was guessed with the infiltration of the water to the rice inside. However, further examination will be necessary for clarifying the reason why the rice cooked in the magnetic water was soft.
