監獄費国庫支弁法が成立した1900(明治33)年に感化法が成立した。その内容は不良行為や犯罪を行った児童を監獄から分離し,福祉的・教育的処遇(感化教育)によって(再)犯罪予防を企図した画期的なものであったが,実際には公立感化院の整備は大きく遅れた。そのような状況の中で同法制定を契機として犯罪・不良少年に対する処遇の改善を企図していた監獄官僚たちは,司法省管轄下にある特別幼年監(独立設置した懲治場)を主な舞台として「感化教育」を実践していくことになる。本研究はこのような司法省による懲治場改革(特別幼年監の設置)に焦点をあて,それらの改革がまさに幼少年犯罪者に対する「感化教育」の実践であったことを明らかにすることを目的にしている。そのため,従来研究では用いられてこなかった神戸監獄・洲本分監,福島監獄・中村分監,横浜監獄女子懲治場の資料を分析し,各懲治場の教育方針やその体制,学科教育及び生活指導や入所児童などの状況について検討した。

After an exhaustive study of the languages of the two islands, morphologically, phonetically, and gramatically, Prof, E. ASAI published, in 1936, a paper entitled " A Study of the Yami Language : An Indonesian Language spoken on Tobago Island (Leiden), " in which he strongly put forward the opinion that the languages of the Batanes Island and Kotosho are almost the same rather than being merely akin to each other. The present writer compared 131 names of animals and plants used by the natives of these two islands and was struck with the marked similarities among them, thus confirming Prof. ASAI'S opinion.In the language spoken by the Batanes at present, not a few of the words suggest a Spanish derivation, which is only natural, seeing that the island had long belonged to Spain. In the Yami language, on the contrary, excepting two instances, we can hardly find a word of Spanish origin.Of the exceptions, one is vaka, the Spanish ox, and the other paluk, from Spanish pale. The Yami Word paluk means water sprinkled with some grains of millet. Before, launching a new boat, the Yami perform a ceremony called the mipaluk, in which each prospective member of the crew of the boat surrounds the boat, and smears its gunwale with the paluk from a pot, this paluk being a charm for the future success of the new boat. The Yami, curiously, have no wine of any kind, although the writer has reasons for believing that they drank some sort of wine in former times, just like all the other tribes of Formosa, which habit, however, has since been discarded. As a matter of fact, the Batanes islanders obtain from the sugar-cane a wine called the Bashi, or palek, which is clearly a derivation from the Spanish pale. According to Yami legend, the close intercourse that existed long ago between the Batanes Island and Kotosho, was broken off eleven generations ago, namely 275 years ago (a generation being 25 years), at which time Spanish ships appeared on the seas adjacent to the Philippines.These two words of Spanish origin in the vocabulary of the Yami, show that the Kotosho language was slightly influenced by Spanish via the Batanes Isiand. Yami legends also support this 'chronologically. 本稿の目的は, 1910年代から1940年代はじめにかけて仏領インドシナにおける日本商の活動を明らかにすることにある。特に財閥系商社である三井物産と三菱商事の人員配置および取扱品に注目し, 該当時のアジア支店がどのように営業活動を展開したのかを検討する。結果, 次の2つのことを明らかにした。(1)三井物産はホンゲイ無煙炭の取り扱いに優位性を示した。これは1910年代から三井物産香港支店とトンキン炭礦会社香港支店との取引関係が構築されており, 一手販売権を獲得したことが大きい。これが香港支店から仏領インドシナへの人員配置にも反映していた。(2)三菱商事においては現地在住の三菱退職者を人材活用し, 日本や香港からの出張者で補完していた。公式の人事録には表われていないため, 従来の研究では見過ごされていた部分である。主な商品に, 旭硝子とともに取扱った硅砂があり, 日本向け輸出に力を入れていた。 従来の研究では, 商社のアジア支店の中で仏領インドシナは規模が小さく継続的営業が確認できなかったが, 本稿では取扱品と人員配置からその活動を示すことができた。

昨年秋(平成16年)および一昨年、中小企業でのバランススコアカード(BSC)の導入を支援する機会を得た。大企業とは違った、中小企業でのBSC導入の問題点がいくつか明らかとなったので、それらを集約し、解決策を検討したい。またBSCの導入を通じて、BSCが経営管理上に持つ意義もいくつか明らかとなってきたので、特にそれらの中で、従来の経営管理論で見過ごされてきたものについて取り上げてみたい。これらを総合することにより新しい経営管理論の体系を構築するきっかけになることを期待している。

The aim of this study was to determine the relationships between free testosterone (FT) level and parameters including laboratory data and data from questionnaires and to determine symptoms leading to the detection of late onset hypogonadism (LOH). We retrospectively reviewed medical records of patients in whom serum FT was measured in our hospital. Aging Male Symptoms (AMS) score, self-rating depression scale (SDS) and frequency scale for the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (FSSG) score were used for questionnaires. A total of 205 patients were included in the analysis (55.2 ± 15.6 years of age, mean ± SD). Among them, 119 patients (58.0%) had an FT level of less than 8.5 pg/mL, which fulfills the diagnostic criterion of LOH syndrome according to the clinical practice manual for LOH in Japan. It was revealed that FSSG score was inversely correlated to serum FT levels (r = –0.3395, p < 0.001), although SDS and AMS scales did not show significant correlations to FT levels. Our study revealed a high prevalence of LOH syndrome among patients in whom the majority complained of general symptoms. Although GERD symptoms are generally not considered to be typical symptoms of LOH, our study indicates that those symptoms might be clues for the detection of LOH.
