本稿は,板垣與一ら経済学者たちの1950年代における活動を中心に検証し,アジア経済研究所の設立過程に焦点をあてながら,戦後日本のアジア研究の制度化を議論するものである。それを通じて,戦時期に生まれた「新しいアジア学」や「新しいアジア主義」が戦後に結びついて日本の経済再建とアジア復帰の中で学知を再編したことを明らかにしたい。日本の地域研究が,有望な市場ないし天然資源の供給先,を重点的に研究しようとする経済主義によって整備されたことについても議論する。一九四〇年代前半に植民政策学の担い手であった板垣與一ら経済学者は,一九五〇年代後半にアジア経済研究所の設立にこぎつけ,念願であった東南アジア研究の拠点を獲得することとなった。これには通産省や財界といった日本経済の再建とアジアへの再進出を主導した機関や岸信介ら政治指導者の後援が不可欠であった。板垣らは,通産省や財界の支持を得るまで,試行錯誤を繰り返した。アジア政経学会,アジア問題調査会,アジア協会といった団体への参加を通じて中国研究者や外務省と協働し,その経験から人脈を築いて中国以外の地域を対象とするアジア研究を制度化していったのである。アジア研究が制度化された背景には,一九五〇年代後半に「経済協力」が日本の政策的「ハイライト」となり「発展期」を迎えたことにあった。これは,日本経済が東南アジアとの連携を強めながら発展していく過程で生じたものである。その流れの中で,「満州人脈」ともいうべき岸ら経済主義的アジア主義者と「新しいアジア学」の担い手である板垣らが連結し,アジア経済研究所が設立されることとなった。両者は,戦間期以降に生じる反帝国・反植民主義に対処する方策として,民族自決 (ナショナリズム) と経済発展 (開発) という問題の重要性に帝国日本の中でいち早く気づき,悪化する戦局の中で政策形成に関わろうとした人びとである。アジア経済研究所の設置は,そのような様々な集団が「アジア研究」を境界オブジェクトとして各々の利害を持って結集したことにより実現した。

This paper aims to describe new directions of sociology for the studies of the labor market in Japan. For related studies, I review the following three research areas – (1) long-term employment custom and seniority-based wage system, (2) social security system, (3) transition from school to work. The problems are that theories on which the past researches relied don't adequately explain observed characteristics in the Japanese labor market, and they view individuals as either “oversocialized” or “undersocialized.” Then, I seek several directions to overcome them. The emphasis is placed on to focus on multiple outcomes of labor markets, matching processes between workers and employers, and institutional mechaniams and their changes.

Two cases of traumatic rupture of the testicle are reported. One patient was surgically explored 7 days after trauma to the scrotum, and the other, after 17 days. Orchiectomy was carried out on both patients. Eighty-seven cases collected from the Japanese literature, including our two cases are reviewed and discussed. The majority of authors recommend early surgical exploration when this condition is suspected.

This is a case study of students'growth processes in a senior high school with a credit system and no grade system. The credit-system high school has been founded to take in high school dropouts and truants. In this study, the interviews were used to assess how students'daily school experiences influence the processes and the mechanisms of students'growth. The findings revealed that the flexible system encourages a huge variety of students to grow up in various manners. Not only those who exercise their autonomy but also those who lack self-direction can make good use of the system and grow up in the high school. As a result, many dropouts and truants are able to return to school.
