Enhancing the physical activity level has become a significant issue for the Japanese to prevent lifestyle-related diseases. For developing a simple and valid method to assess daily energy expenditure, we measured the energy expended by several physical activities in 13 young Japanese adults using the portable expiration gas metabolic monitor. Each subject wore a heart rate monitor on the chest and three-dimensional accelerometers on the wrist, waist and ankle. The energy expenditure was correlated with the heart rate and with the acceleration at the wrist, waist and ankle. Energy expenditure showed higher correlation coefficients with the acceleration at the waist and ankle than at the wrist. A multiple regression analysis showed that the energy expenditure could be estimated from the accelerations at the wrist and waist, the heart rate, gender, height and weight. The results indicate that measuring both the body acceleration and heart rate was important for developing a simple and valid method to assess daily energy expenditure.

On the process of reformation of school educational system these days, one of the problem pointed out is the estrangement between school learning and people's living life or their learning in life. Students start to think learning at school has lost touch with their future then they lost their interest in school learning and work. And also the value judgment of "work" itself has changed current society. So it is urgent needs to work on this transitional stage from school to work. In this paper, we focused on the transitional stage from vocational education to work by starting collaborative developmental work research under the theory of cultural-historical activity theory. We summarize the problem Tsuji School has as concrete research field and define four tasks we need to face. Then it becomes clear we need to see this problematic situation from two point; one is lack of learners' point of view and the other is lack of the vision of future educated people as societal change agent. At last we discuss the practical way to change the vocational education system and support people to transform this difficult stage by collaboration between school and workplace.

本研究は、Professionの生成と継承に関する第一研究として、Erikson(1950)の精神分析的個体発達分化の図式を理論的基礎におき、陶器職人の専門家アイデンティティの生成と継承のプロセスと、それに関わる要因を分析した。沖縄県読谷壷屋焼の代表的な陶芸家である島袋常秀教授に対する個人面接から得られた語りの分析によって、氏の陶器職人としての専門家アイデンティティ形成の特質と熟達のプロセス、専門的職業レベルにおける心理社会的課題の体験のされ方を考察した。専門家アイデンティティは、基本的信頼感、自律性、自主性、勤勉性、アイデンティティ達成という乳幼児期からの心理社会的テーマが、専門的職業の次元で再度重要な意味をもち、それらを再達成することによって発達・深化していくことが示唆された。また、心理臨床家と職人のプロフェッショナル・ワークにおける共通の特質が見出された。

VARBRULプログラムは欧米の変異理論研究では一般的なフリーウェアだが、日本においてはVARBRUL登場後30年たってなお、その紹介が十分に成されているとは言い難い状況にある。本稿ではVARBRULの基本から、実際の使用法、そして現バージョンのVARBRULが持つ諸問題点を指摘するものである。
