The yield of rice in Kyrgyz Republic is the least in Central Asia. However the rice produced at Uzugen in Kyrgyzstan, Uzugenn-rice is estimated high among people in Central Asia. If Uzugen-rice is not used to cook prov, a kind of rice dish, for guest, a host will be put to shame. The ploy cooked with Uzugen-rice is essential for festivals and a wedding reception too. In August 1997, I visited Uzugen and Fergana in Uzbekistan and looked at the rice cultivation there. This report gives the following contents. 1. The state of rice cultivation in Central Asia. 2. The estimation of Uzugen-rice in Central Asia. 3. The complaint of rice farmers in Kyrgyzstan. 4. The kinds of main rice dishes in Central Asia.

On October 13, 1894 the ballet "Rund um Wien" by Josef Bayer was performed in the Vienna Court Opera in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the musician life of Johann Strauss junior. After that, this work continued being performed at the Vienna Court Opera over 64 times till 1906. But the ballet may have been revised after the premiere, because of the vulnerability of the story. In fact, the Austrian National Library posesses the three handwriting scores of the ballet. By solving the genealogy of sources, the author got the proofs that the ballet was revised after the premiere. It is concluded that "Rund um Wien" was revised several times. By revisions, the whole work became shorter and the scene where Strauss's motifs were quoted was especially reduced 30 percent.

第二次世界大戦後、日本の敗戦に伴って蔣介石率いる「中華民国」政府(国府)に接収された台湾に、中国大陸から続々と中国兵や民間人がやって来た。彼らは汚職、腐敗に加え、強盗、万引き、強姦といった暴虐の限りを尽くし、社会全体が乱れに乱れた。そして、ついに台湾の人々の憤怒が爆発し、一九四七年二月二八日、民衆蜂起「二・二八事件」が起こった。すると間もなく中国大陸から派された国府の援軍による無差別殺戮が始まり、反体制派と見做された多くの台湾人が投獄、処刑された。犠牲者数は三万人近いと言われている。これを機に日本に亡命、生涯に亘り「中華民国」体制からの「独立」を目指し台湾独立運動に挺身したのが王育徳だった。本稿は、王育徳が中心となって結成された「台湾青年社」の機関紙『台湾青年』第六号(一九六一年二月二〇日)の「二・二八特集号」のうち、事件の顛末を綴った「二・二八事件日誌」と、王育徳のエッセイ「兄王育霖の死」を、解説を附して翻刻したものである。
