A self-report instrument to measure multiple mood states was constructed. Six hundered and fortyeight Japanese affect adjectives were collected and divided into two lists. Japanese undergraduates totaling 1 254 rated each adjective in the list on a 4-point intensity scale to assess their momentary mood states. Factor analyses revealed 131 items with high loading on extracted major factors. The new list of these 131 items was rated three times by undergraduates totaling 1 768 and was factor analysed. Throughout the factor analyses, eight factors emerged with consistent reliability. Finally, 80 items highly loaded on these factors were selected to construct eight 10-item mood scales. These scales were called Depression (Anxiety), Hostility, Boredom, Liveliness, Well Being, Friendliness, Concentration and Startle. The scales were shown to be internally consistent. A comparison of these scales with the English mood scales was presented.

The Godzilla Megamullion is the largest known oceanic core complex, located in the Parece Vela Basin, an extinct backarc basin in the Philippine Sea. The previous studies argued that the basin was active from 26 Ma to 12 Ma at an intermediate-spreading rate of 8.8-7.0 cm/year full-rate, although the basin shows the characteristics typical for slower spreading ridges. For example, many peridotites in the Parece Vela Basin are much less depleted than those exposed at comparable spreading rates on other mid-ocean ridge systems. The tectono-magmatic characteristics of the Parece Vela Basin were thus thought unusual and paradoxical.<br>   However, the recent studies, based on the high-density samplings on the Godzilla Megamullion, show the evidences that the basin became slow to ultraslow environment in its terminal phase. Zircon U-Pb dating of gabbroic rocks from the Godzilla Megamullion reveals that the estimated slip rate of the Godzilla Megamullion detachment fault was ∼ 2.5 cm/y; significantly slower than the previous estimate. The morphology and geology of the termination area are similar to those observed in ultraslow-spreading ridges. Decreasing degree of partial melting of the peridotites as well as increased amount of plagioclase-bearing peridotites (showing melt stagnation in the shallow lithospheric mantle) are observed towards the termination of the Godzilla Megamullion.<br>   Based on the recent observations at the Godzilla Megamullion, it would be argued that the terminal phase of a backarc basin development will go through an ultraslow-spreading environment, erupting alkaline basalts. There will be an overlap period of the terminal alkaline basalt magmatism and the rifting of a succeeding backarc basin.<br>

One of Aizu Yaichi's 會津八一 sobriquets was Konsai 渾齋, which was based on a tablet for which Wu Changshuo 呉昌碩 wrote the calligraphy. In other words, Aizu had a deep interest in Wu Changshuo. In this article, I accordingly examine the relationship between Aizu and Wu Changshuo.<br>  When one examines works by Aizu of which the date of composition is known, one finds works from the Taisho era that were produced on the basis of the layout of paintings with poetic inscriptions by Wu Changshuo. Further, some of his postwar poetic inscriptions for paintings consisting of <i>waka</i> 和歌 poems have been executed with innovative ideas by incorporating, for example, the layout of works by Wu Changshuo. When considered in this light, it could be said that from his forties in the Taisho era until his later years after the war Aizu regarded Wu Changshuo's works as an important object of consideration when producing his own works.<br>  In June 1949 Aizu had a talk at the head office of the publishing house Chuo Koronsha 中央公論社 with Qian Shoutie 錢痩鐵, a pupil of Wu Changshuo who was visiting Japan at the time. During their talk, Aizu put forward the view that true originality cannot be born from only imitating calligraphers of yore. In the past, calligraphers had spent the greater part of their training in copying the works of past masters. But Aizu flatly rejected this mode of practice to be seen in some calligraphers which was overly focused on imitating people of yore.<br>  When one reads this dialogue from 1949 it is evident that Aizu had recognized that originality is not born solely from imitation through the works of Wu Changshuo, who had devoted his life to the copying of the stone-drum inscriptions (<i>shiguwen</i> 石鼓文). In other words, according to Aizu, it was important to assimilate the classics, but at the same time a stance unshackled by them was necessary when composing one's own works. Wu Changshuo was for Aizu an object of consideration not only when producing his own works, but also for establishing his own ideas about the production of works of calligraphy.

大学入試センター試験『国語』の現代文で出題される,いわゆる「傍線部問題」を解く方法を定式化し,実装した.本方法は,問題の本文の一部と 5 つの選択肢を照合し,表層的に最も類似した選択肢を選ぶことにより問題を解く.実装した方法は,「評論」の「傍線部問題」の半数以上に対して正解を出力した.
