本研究は, 統合失調症患者のリズム同期能力の関連要因を検討することを目的とし, リズム同期能力, 認知機能,および社会機能の評価を行った. 対象者は25名であった. リズム同期能力は, 打楽器を使用した簡易的なリズムテスト, 認知機能は統合失調症認知機能簡易評価尺度日本語版(BACS-J) の数字順列課題と符号課題, 社会機能については精神科リハビリテーション行動評価尺度(REHAB) で評定した. その結果, リズム同期能力とワーキング・メモリに相関が認められた. また, リズム同期能力と社会機能の関連について, リズム同期能力が低いと社会機能が低かった. 以上の結果より, 統合失調症患者のリズム同期能力は, ワーキング・メモリ, そして社会機能が関連していることが示唆された.

科学は女性と疎遠なものであると捉える認識がある一方で,美容という領域においては,科学は女性をアピールするものとして扱われて続けてきた.本稿は,化粧品広告,および美容雑誌における科学的言説の特徴を考察するものである. 考察の結果,第二次世界大戦以前の科学とは,西洋を模範とする衛生を目指すものであったのに対して,1980年代以降の科学とは,成分を全面に押し出すものであると分かった.また80年代以降,一方で科学そのものが権威として機能し,それへの信仰や依存があること,ところが他方で,科学がわざわざ自然と融合した形で表現されることも見いだした. つまり,近年の科学信仰の中には,科学に対する潜在的な不安も同時に存在する.そこで,不安を和らげるような自然物イメージが,科学に付与されることになる.科学と自然が共犯関係を結ぶことで,より強固な科学信仰を生み出すというパラドックスが,美容の科学における言説に発見できる. People commonly think that women have been alienated from the field of science, however the science of beauty (for example, cosmetics) has appealed to women. In this study, I attempt to explore the features of scientific discourse in advertisements on cosmetics and in beauty magazines.Through this analysis, I find that people believe ads’ science claims and have trusted science blindly since 1980’s, where as before World War II , we focused on hygiene modeled upon the West. I also find that scientific words are tied with natural images.Blind faith in science, ironically, leads to potential distrust of science. To ease this anxiety, natural images are associated with scientific words.In analyzing the beauty science discourse, I examine the paradox that belief in science is strengthened by its unscientific association with natural images.

Background: Genetic variants of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) began to emerge in 2020 and have been spreading globally during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Despite the presence of different COVID-19 vaccines, the discovery of effective antiviral therapeutics for the treatment of patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 are still urgently needed. A natural amino acid, 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA), has exhibited both antiviral and anti-inflammatory activities. In a previous study, we demonstrated an in vitro antiviral effect of 5-ALA against SARS-CoV-2 infection without significant cytotoxicity. In the present study, we sought to investigate whether 5-ALA with or without sodium ferrous citrate (SFC) can inhibit in vitro both the original SARS-CoV-2 Wuhan strain and its variants, including the Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta strains.Methods: The antiviral activity of ALA with or without SFC was determined in Vero-E6 cell. The virus inhibition was quantified by real time RT-PCR.Results: Co-administration of 5-ALA and SFC inhibited the Wuhan, Alpha and Delta variants of SARS-CoV-2 with IC50 values of 235, 173 and 397 µM, respectively, and the Beta and Gamma variants with IC50 values of 1311 and 1516 µM.Conclusion: Our study suggests that 5-ALA with SFC warrants accelerated clinical evaluation as an antiviral drug candidate for treating patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 variants.

Researches on contact current and human body resistance by using precise human model at power frequency were carried out. In this study, the absolute values of internal body resistances were calculated for the two current paths. Its showed good agreement with another numerical data. But, they were twice or three times higher than the experimental ones. This implies that the factors such as the difference between in vivo and in vitro conductivities need to be considered. In addition, it was found that the internal resistances are widely influenced by current path which include extremities or not. And then, the current density of extremely high magnitude exceeding 100mA/m2 appears concentrically at heart and spinal cord in the torso as well as at extremities. These results indicate that concentration of internal current is influenced by cross-section area of current path and tissue's conductivity.

The middle class who has risen by the Industrial Revolution became a new bearer of theater culture in Britain of the second half in the Victorian Age. Although they have little cultural knowledge, new amusement was required for them who want imitation of high society, and the Savoy opera won popularity as a genre which suited their hobby. The most successful work is the “Mikado” which made fi ctitious Japan the stage. As The japonaiserie showed a wide spread those days, and as the Japanese village was opened in relation to it , they are said that it has infl uenced greatly to the idea of the dramatist W. S. Gilbert. But the charm of the “mikado” which was proud of explosive popularity is not simply an absurd thing. The image of the “Japanese” with whom the spectator was restrictively acquainted by a Japanese entertainer’s appearance, and the image and the story of the familiar anecdote which British people know well. We should not reappraise as a form of the new performing arts which the skill as a dramatist of Gilbert who created the reality in “the country which is not anywhere”, “Never-never-land”, and the skill as a new role, “drama director”.
