We found a clear b-value variation associated with the rupture of asperities based on investigations of spatial and temporal distributions of frequency-magnitude relation for earthquakes in the northeastern (NE) Japan subduction zone. We used the Tohoku-University earthquake catalogue in the period from January 1, 1981 to October 3, 2001 after correcting artificial magnitude shift and removing artificial events. Spatial distribution of b-value is compared with the locations of asperities estimated on the plate boundary east off NE Japan. Estimated b-value decreases with increasing depth. Anomalously high b-values are observed in two areas off-Iwate and off-Fukushima regions, and asperities do not intrude into them. Temporal variation of b-value for presently analysed six asperities shows a remarkable increase in b-value after the rupture of each asperity. Then the b-value decreases gradually. These observations suggest that b-value reflects the stress change occurring in the vicinity of the asperities.

1991年にスイートソルガム14品種を用いて, 出穂期までの播種後日数(DAS-H)と収量及び収量に関与する諸形質との関係を調べた. さらにその中の8品種を1991年から3年間栽培し, 出穂期の年次変動, DAS-Hと収量との関係を解析した. 1991年の実験では, DAS-Hが多いほど, 茎乾物収量が多く, 品種間で直線的な関係が認められた. また, 収量に関与すると考えられる形質, つまり総葉数, 伸長節間数, 茎長, 茎直径についても同様な関係が認められた. 3年間の実験の結果, DAS-Hは, 品種によっては年ごとに大きく変動した. 例えばWrayの出穂期は, 1991年ではDAS-H88(8月31日, 1993年ではDAS-H125(10月5日)で, 播種後日数にして37日の差があった. これを出穂期までの積算温度(CAT-H)でみても同様で, 1991年と1993年とで585度日の差があった. また, 各品種をDAS-H順に並べると, その順位も年により変動し, 一部の品種では早生か晩生かを決定できないものもあった. すなわち, 1992年では中生品種と位置付けられるRio, Keller, Wrayは1991年では早生品種, 1993年では晩生品種に位置づけられる結果となった. 品種によって出穂期の年次変動が大きく, しかも収量及び収量関連形質の年次変動と異なるために, 3年間を通してみると, DAS-H (CAT-H)収量, または収量関連形質との相関は低かった. しかし, 年ごとのDAS-Hと収量または収量に関与する形質との間には, 高い正の相関が認められた.

接触型の指紋認証には,指表面の状態等により認証精度が低下するという問題があるため,非接触型指紋認証の開発が行われている.しかしながら,非接触型指紋認証では,指紋画像の隆線と谷線間のコントラストが小さく特徴量が抽出しにくい問題や,入力された指紋画像に指の位置ずれ,傾き,回転が生じることで認識率が低下する問題がある.本研究では,LOG フィルタを用いて指紋画像のコントラストの問題に対応する,局所特徴量を用いた非接触型指紋認証法を提案する.本手法では,局所特徴量として,Histograms of Oriented Gradients(HOG)特徴量および局所輝度特徴量を用いる.また,指の回転が与える影響について調査を行い,指の回転変化への許容性を明らかにした.

防犯カメラからの犯行現場画像と被疑者画像との撮影角度を吸収するため,姿勢変化に対する耳介認証システムのロバスト性を向上させるアルゴリズムを提案した.カメラ平面外回転方向への姿勢変化に対応するため,姿勢変化後のGabor Jetを推測し判別分析に学習させた.提案手法の有効性が実験的に確認でき,犯行現場画像中の耳介画像から被疑者候補を挙げるシステムの精度向上の可能性が示せた.

There has been many problems in situations surrounding children such as child neglect, deterioration in the quality of play, etc. We believe that robotic playmates would greatly help to solve these problems. In this paper we propose a playmate robot system that can play with a child. Unlike many therapeutic service robots, our proposed playmate system is implemented as a functionality of the domestic service robot with a high degree-of-freedom. This means that the robot can play with children at a high level, i.e., beyond a therapeutic effect, using its physical features. To sustain the player's interest in the system, we also propose an action selection strategy based on a transition model of the child's mental state. The robot can estimate the child's state and select an appropriate action in the course of play. Part of the proposed algorithms was implemented on a real robot platform, and experiments were carried out to design and evaluate the proposed system.

The tumor extension of T4 cases of upper gum carcinoma (UG-Ca) is clinically similar to T2 cases of maxillary sinus carcinoma (NIS-Ca). However, the prognosis of the former is remarkably unfavorable compared with the latter. A comparative study between 16 cases of UG-Ca (T4) and 14 cases of MS-Ca (T2) was undertaken in order to assess the difference in their prognosis.<BR>The 5 year accumulative survival rate of UG-Ca (T4) was 36.5% and MS-Ca (T2) was 92.3%. While the control rate of the primary lesion after initial therapy, the former was 50% and the latter was 78.6%. As for the rat of cervical metastases noted clinically, it was 75% and 35.7% respectively. Bilateral cervical metastases was noted in 6 cases of UG-Ca (T4) and none in MS-Ca (T2). With respect to the 5 year accumulative survival rate of the cases with pathologically confirmed nodal involvement, it was 0% for UG-Ca (T4) but MS-Ca (T2) was 66.7%.<BR>The unfavorable prognosis for UG-Ca (T4) cases was attributed to failure to control primary and cervical metastases. Therefore, it is necessary to reexamine the margin of the primary resection and the timing for carrying out RND.

近年、職場においてストレスからくる心理的な負担を原因として精神障害を発症する労働者数が増えている。本研究では働きやすい職場づくりに向けての基礎資料とするために、A社全社員の職場におけるストレス評価をおこない、生活および仕事上の要因と、ストレスによる心身反応との関連を明らかにすることを目的とした。一方、ストレス対処能力を高める要因についても検討した。その結果、ストレスによる心身反応をおこさないために、生活上の要因として「睡眠の質」に着目することが重要であり、仕事上では「労働時間の適正化」「人的コミュニケーション」「働きがい」が重要であった。またストレス対処能力向上には、「睡眠の質」「仕事の適正度」「仕事のコントロール」「働きがい」「人的コミュニケーション」が関連していた。

顔画像認識技術における重要な研究課題として, 撮像時の環境変動に対する処理精度の安定性の向上が挙げられる.これに対し, 筆者らは任意背景中からの人物領域の抽出法として, HSV表色系と特異値分解を用いた手法を提案している.本手法は, 人物の肌色が彩度値において比較的高いことに着目して, 彩度成分画像に対して特異値分解を施すことにより, 人物位置の特定を行っている.しかし, 従来の彩度の変換式では, 本来, 彩度が低いはずの黒に近い色が高い彩度を示し, 低彩度として表せていなかった.これが, 顔領域の抽出に悪影響を及ぼす場合があり, この影響を避けるためには黒に近い色を低彩度として表す必要がある.本論文では, 彩度を無彩色からの距離として定義した, より人間の視覚に近い彩度の変換式を提案するとともに, 提案方式による顔領域抽出実験の結果について報告する.実験は, 従来手法で人物の位置の特定が正しく行えなかった画像111枚を用いて行われ, そのうち99枚について人物の位置特定が正しく行われ, 提案方式の有効性が確認された.
