初期の時間,位置や場所を表示する語の獲得は動作語の獲得との関連が指摘されてきた.そこには,子どもの日常生活における認知や遊びの発達との関連性が考えられるが,その点についての資料は少ない.本研究では,定型発達の子どもの初期の時間,位置や場所を示す語の獲得が進む2〜3歳の時期に注目し,家庭における認知・遊びの発達との関連性を検討した.研究協力者は,保育所に在園する子どもとその保護者で,保護者にマッカーサー乳幼児言語発達質問紙(CDI)と家庭での認知・遊びの発達に関する調査に縦断的に回答してもらった.生後23ヵ月時から36ヵ月時のCDI「語と文法」における動作語,時間,位置や場所を表示する表出語彙得点と家庭での認知・遊びの諸変数との相関分析の結果,時間,位置や場所を表す語の獲得は動作語の獲得や家庭での認知・遊びの発達における「人の行為の表象化」「物での構成遊び」や「空間理解」との関連が示唆された.

ダイナミック・システムズ・アプローチが注目され、20数年が経ち、言語発達支援を考えるうえにおいて示唆に富む報告がなされてきた。しかし、言語の獲得が遅れている事例へのダイナミック・システムズ・アプローチからの研究は少ないのが現状である。本稿では、初期言語学習期にある事例への言語発達支援を考えるうえで、近年の初期言語発達に関するダイナミック・システムズ・アプローチからの諸研究を展望し、言語発達障害の事例への支援におけるその意義や有効性を考察した。縦断資料をもとに、構成要素の軌跡と、それらの相乗作用、そこにみられるアトラクター状態、安定性や不安定性、その移行の検討は重要で、特に言語発達障害がある事例へのアセスメントや言語発達支援において有効であると考えられた。今後は神経構成主義の立場から、行動レベルでの細かな縦断観察をもとに、どのような構成要素に注目していくかを示すことが課題となることを指摘した。

We have been investigating positional problems and symptoms that TOS patients complain of when going to bed, and herein report the results of 1201 cases treated with the TOS-pillow over the past 8 years. Problems related to sleep included patients inability to sleep on their back at night, therefore they slept in the lateral position; they usually did not use their pillows and would often have neck pain, stiffness and numbness when they got up in the morning. The TOS-pillow consists of a head and neck portion designed originally according to the patient’s posture and bilateral shoulder parts. At our outpatient department, patients were instructed according to our pillow guidance, and they purchased the pillow after a 2-week trial. The TOS-pillow fits the shape of patient’s head, neck, and shoulder, enlarges their costoclavicular space, relaxes the surrounding muscles, and allows satisfactory sleep. TOS-pillow treatment has been well received by many patients in the long-term follow-up.

Vascular tests for thoracic outlet syndrome are considered to be one of the important diagnostic aid in order to determine the localization and the severity of neurovascular lesion at the thoracic outlet region. However, the mechanism and significance of vascular tests are still unclear.This is to report our clinical and autopsial study to try to clarify the exact meanings of each vascular test.Materials are 72 cases in 48 patients with thoracic outlet syndrome (46 cases in 39 patients recieved first rib resection) and 21 cases of exploration in autopsy.Positive Adson's test, although the incidence is quite low, may suggest severe lesion at the scalen triangle. Eden's test indicate lesions at the costo-clavicular space. In this positive the clavicle moves most to the posteromedial direction among the various positions. Abduction-external rotation test and Wright's test show neurovascular compression mainly at the costo-clavicular region and partly at the scalen triangle. These positions make the neurovascular bundle tracted foward the lateral. Compression at the subcoracoideal region is not the main cause in Wright's test.

This paper presents a new type of axial gap motor, called the flux-modulating hybrid field motor (FHM). For flux modulation, the FHM has rotor iron pieces sandwiched between two stators, the armature and field poles. The field poles comprise permanent magnets and electromagnets, and the magnetic flux of the electromagnets can be adjusted by changing the field current. To validate the principle of this FHM, a 0.8-kW prototype machine was fabricated, and the basic characteristics of the prototype machine were investigated through experiments and three-dimensional finite element analysis. The results show that the torque can be varied in a wider range by changing the armature current vector and field current.
